Einer dieser kleinen Makel zeigt sich schon beim ersten Aufklappen: Lässig mit einer Hand lässt sich das Surface Book nur mit etwas Mühe und Übung öffnen. Das liegt an der Bauweise, Tastatur-Dock und Displayeinheit sind nahezu gleich dick, unten ist das sogenannte Clipboard sogar etwas dicker. Kein Wunder, schließlich steckt fast die gesamte Hardware darin, und für Lüftungsschlitze muss auch Platz bleiben. Umso schöner ist dafür der Effekt beim Zuklappen: Auf dem letzten Zentimeter sinkt das Clipboard sanft von selbst hinab, während man durch den frei bleibenden Spalt am Scharnier sieht, wie das Licht ausgeht.

Man könnte nun sagen, das seien Kleinigkeiten, ästhetische Details, die nichts über das Produkt selbst aussagen. Aber das ist natürlich falsch: Ein Gerät wie das Surface Book will schön gefunden werden, es will gestreichelt und geliebt werden, es soll, ähnlich wie auch Apples Produkte, Begehrlichkeiten wecken. Gelungen ist Microsoft das ohne Zweifel. Das Magnesium-Gehäuse fühlt sich mit seiner matten Oberfläche toll an, jedes Detail passt hundertprozentig, die Verarbeitung ist perfekt.

Freude bereiten auch Tastatur, Touchpad und Display. Die Tasten klappern nicht, haben einen guten Druckpunkt und sind hintergrundbeleuchtet. Das Touchpad reagiert auf Eingaben und Mehrfingergesten emfpindlich und exakt so wie es soll - volle Punktzahl dafür. Auch das 13,5-Zoll-Display ist hervorragend, schön hell und mit 3000 x 2000 Pixeln ausreichend scharf (267 ppi). Leider spiegelt der Bildschirm recht stark. Kleiner Minuspunkt zudem: Auf der Tastatur gibt es zwar Tasten zur dreistufigen Regelung der Tastenbeleuchtung, aber keine für die viel wichtigere Displayhelligkeit. Die lässt sich nur über die Einstellungskacheln im Windows-10-Info-Center regeln. Immerhin: Die automatische Helligkeitsanpassung funktioniert beim Testgerät gut.

Als Arbeitstier macht das Surface Book eine gute Figur: Die von n-tv.de getestete stärkste Konfiguration mit Intel-Core-i7-Prozessor mit 2,6 GHz Taktrate und 16 Gigabyte Arbeitsspeicher ist blitzschnell und kommt auch bei anspruchsvolleren Aufgaben wie Bildbearbeitung oder Videoschnitt nicht ins Schwitzen, die diskrete Nvidia-Grafikeinheit im Tastaturdock bringt einen Leistungsschub. Bei aufwändigen Computerspielen gerät das Surface Book an seine Grenzen, doch für leidenschaftliche Gamer ist die Notebook-Tablet-Kombination ohnehin nicht gedacht. Unter Last wird die Displayeinheit spürbar warm, aber nicht zu heiß, die Lüftung ist auch im Dauereinsatz kaum zu hören.

Der beiliegende und magnetisch am Displayteil anhaftende Eingabestift ist eine gute Zugabe mit cleveren Zusatzfunktionen: Der "Radiergummi" am oberen Ende lässt sich wie bei einem Kugelschreiber klicken. Einmal Klicken öffnet die Notiz-App OneNote, zweimal Klicken macht einen Screenshot, der direkt in OneNote bearbeitet werden kann. Handschrifteingabe funktioniert flott und ohne spürbare Latenz, die Handschrifterkennung ist gut, auch Zeichnen macht mit dem Stift Spaß, das PixelSense-Display setzt Eingaben sehr exakt um. Nützlich ist er auch in Zusammenarbeit mit den Funktionen von Edge, um zum Beispiel Webseiten zu markieren und mit Anmerkungen zu versehen.

Zum Einsatz kommt er aber wohl vor allem, wenn das Clipboard abgekoppelt ist oder im Tablet-Modus umgekehrt auf dem Tastenblock aufliegt, denn sonst wird's schnell wackelig. Das Scharnier ist gut, perfekt ausbalanciert zwischen stabil und elastisch, gibt aber bei Stifteingaben leicht nach. Leider kann das Display nicht so weit wie bei vielen anderen Notebooks nach hinten geklappt werden. Für einen größeren Winkel muss das Display abgekoppelt und umgedreht wieder angesteckt werden. Dafür gibt's eine eigene Taste und einen Button in der Taskleiste. Koppeln und Entkoppeln liefen im Test zuverlässig und problemlos - freilich nur im eingeschalteten Zustand. Sonst ist das Displaydock bombenfest an seine Basis gefesselt, eine etwas umständliche, aber stabile Lösung.

Für ausreichend Akku-Power sorgen insgesamt 70 Wattstunden (Wh). Basis und Display teilen sich dabei die Leistung, wobei im Display der deutlich schwächere Akku steckt (18 Wh). Das ist schade, denn gerade die mobilen Fähigkeiten im Tablet-Modus werden so künstlich begrenzt. Die Bauweise erlaubte aus Gleichgewichtsgründen aber keinen größeren Akku. So geht dem Clipboard recht schnell die Puste aus, es kann aber separat vom Tastendock geladen werden. Im Notebook-Modus erreicht das Surface Book sehr respektable Laufzeiten, die von Microsoft angepeilten 12 Stunden waren im Test aber nicht ganz drin, die Laufzeit lag im Schnitt bei 10 Stunden. Wissenswert: In ausführlichen Akkutests ermittelte "Anandtech" längere Laufzeiten für die schwächere, dadurch aber auch genügsamere Core-i5-Version.

Beide Modelle eignen sich mit ihren langen Laufzeiten auch gut für Serienmarathons auf der heimischen Couch. Die integrierten, beinah unsichtbaren Lautsprecher sind dabei ausreichend stark und strahlen guten und klaren Klang nach vorne ab. Ein Kopfhörerausgang sitzt oben links im Clipboard, direkt neben Powertaste und Lautstärkewippe. Am Tastaturdock gibt es einen Displayport, zwei USB-3.0-Eingänge sowie einen SD-Kartenleser. Front- und Rückkamera sind nicht weiter erwähnenswert, beide tun ihren Dienst, können aber nicht beeindrucken. Nützlich ist die Authentifizierung mit Windows Hello über eine Infrarot-Kamera. Im Test erkannte die Kamera das Testergesicht fast immer sehr zügig und entsperrte den Computer wie von Zauberhand - ein cooles Feature, das mit PIN-Eingabe umgangen werden kann, wenn es mal streikt.

Mit dem Surface Book hat Microsoft einen waschechten Windows-10-Konkurrenten für Apples MacBook Pro geschaffen und damit eine willkommene Alternative für Nutzer, die zwar Apples "Look & Feel" schätzen, aber nicht auf Windows verzichten können oder wollen. Gemein mit Apples Premium-Notebooks hat das Surface Book aber auch den Preis - bei 1649 Euro geht's los, die getestete Variante mit i7-Prozessor und Nvidia-dGPU kostet ab 2319 Euro aufwärts. Konkurrenz im eigenen Haus ist die Surface-Pro-Reihe: Wer lieber ein Tablet möchte, das sich zwischendurch als Notebook-Ersatz nutzen lässt, greift zu den Pro-Modellen mit Zusatztastatur. Wer aber ein kompaktes und leistungsstarkes Notebook möchte, das zusätzlich einen Touchscreen hat und bei Bedarf auch als Profi-Tablet herhält, kommt nicht am Surface Book vorbei - zumindest, bis die Konkurrenz das Konzept adaptiert.

Kanex hat mit dem GoPower eine Batterie entwickelt, mit der sich aktuelle USB-C-Rechner aufladen lassen.Immer mehr aktuelle Notebooks kommen mit USB-C-Schnittstellen, die interessante neue Anwendungen erlauben. Dazu gehört die Möglichkeit, Geräte über externe Akkus aufzuladen, wie man es bislang nur von Smartphones oder Tablets kennt. Der GoPower von Kanex ist ein solches Gerät: Er enthält eine Batterie mit einer Leistung von 15.000 mAh und kann beispielsweise Apples MacBook immerhin einmal komplett neu aufladen.

Normale USB-Ausgänge sind ebenfalls vorhanden, die es auch erlauben, Smartphones zu betanken – das funktioniert etwa bei einem iPhone 6s bis zu sechs Mal. Sehr kompakt ist der GoPower allerdings nicht, schließlich müssen die vielen Batteriezellen ja irgendwohin.Über den Refresh bei der Schenker XMG Ultimate Gaming-Serie mit den neuen Modellen XMG U506 und XMG U706 haben wir bereits berichtet. Nun hat Schenker auch die Neuauflage der XMG Advanced Gaming-Notebooks mit Intel Skylake Prozessoren und weiteren neuen Features für Anfang Oktober angekündigt.

Laut Schenker sind die XMG Advanced Gaming-Laptops XMG A506 und XMG A706 im Oktober dann unter www.mysn.de sowie bei ausgewählten Händlern erhältlich. Ein XMG A506 Notebook mit Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M (2 GB GDDR5), Intel Core i7-6700HQ, 8 GB DDR3-Arbeitsspeicher (Crucial Ballistix Sport), 250 GB großer M.2 SSD Crucial MX200, 1-TB-Festplatte (WD Blue, 5400 U/min) und Windows 10 Home (64 Bit) ist für 1480 Euro erhältlich.

Bei den aktualisierten Serien lassen sich nun als Neuerung auch PCI-Express angebundene, sehr schnelle NVMe-SSDs verwenden. Um den Akku der Gaming-Notebooks bei dauerhaftem Betrieb am Netzteil zu schonen, führt Schenker das "FlexiCharger"-Feature ein. Der Akku wird erst wieder geladen, wenn ein vom Nutzer festgelegter Ladestand unterschritten wird. Durch den Verzicht auf unnötig häufige Lade- und Entladezyklen wird laut Schenker die Lebensdauer des Akkus verlängert.

DELL XPS L701x Battery

"No way. Impossible. Won’t work.”
Thus goes the chorus of disapproval that accompanies Elon Musk at every step of his unconventional way.

In 2008, Tesla, Musk’s all-electric vehicle company, brings out its $100,000 roadster, a combination of a Lotus Elise chassis derivative and lithium-ion laptop batteries.
"It’s a toy for Silicon Valley lunatics who have too much money.”
That same year, Tesla announces the Model S. The car is shown in prototype form the next year and ships three years later, in June 2012.
"Another $100,000 car, years late. This is innovation?”
The Model X SUV, with its distinctive falcon doors, is introduced in early Feb. 2012 and, after multiple delays, starts shipping on Sept. 29, 2015. Price tag: $120,000–130,000.
"Everybody, all together: It’s buggy, it’s late, and it’s expensive.”
It’s not just the cars that incite the choir; they’re also agitated by Tesla’s irresponsible way with "easy” money. By Jan. 2009, Tesla (founded in 2003) has raised $187 million and delivered 147 vehicles.
"Ha! A million dollars per vehicle. It’s a joke, just see Tesla Deathwatch section on The Truth About Cars website.”

In June 2009, Tesla receives $465 million in interest-bearing loans from the United States Department of Energy (loans they have since fully paid back).
"Highway robbery. Liberals spending taxpayers’ money on gewgaws for green-shamed millionaires.”
Then there’s Musk’s "bad memory” (or poor planning…or maybe he just improvises). In Tesla’s Jan. 2016 shareholders letter, Musk tells shareholders [as always, edits and emphasis mine]: "We plan to fund about $1.5 billion in capital expenditures without accessing any outside capital….”

Three months later, the company announces that it plans to sell $2 billion of Tesla shares in order to invest in the just-announced Model 3 production.
"Right. Three months ago, you had no idea you’d need capital for the new model?”
To finish the articles of indictment, Tesla has made a bid to acquire solar power company SolarCity for $2.8 billion. Musk calls the acquisition a "no-brainer” that fits into Tesla’s long-term strategic goal of end-to-end energy sustainability. The problem? "SolarCity was founded in 2006 by brothers Peter and Lyndon Rive, based on a suggestion…by their cousin, Elon Musk, who is the chairman and helped start the company.” [Wikipedia]
"This one takes the cake. Tesla wants to bail out another Musk company that’s a failing performer in a challenged industry sector. This would increase Tesla’s debt to $6 billion!”
The chorus is loud, but Musk doesn’t seem to be listening—or he doesn’t care.
This is a man whose long entrepreneurial career before Tesla (see his Wikipedia bio here) made him money and followers, a man who builds reusable launcher rockets with his SpaceX company, puts satellites in orbit, and says he’ll launch the world’s most powerful rocket by the end of this year.

Musk’s track record and enthusiasm can’t be denied. If you have the time, watch this Elon Musk interview from the 2016 ReCode Conference. Musk struggles with an explanation of orbital speeds and landing barges in the first ten minutes, but then the gears kick in and he finishes with brilliant musings about space exploration, Tesla, and the Nevada battery factory.
Musk does, of course, make outlandish promises, particularly when it comes to schedules and timelines. Tesla says it’s gearing up to produce 500,000 of its more affordable (~$35,000) Model 3s in 2018, and one million in 2020. Once again, we can hear the choir:

"50,000 cars in 2015… 500,000 in 2018… that’s a tenfold increase in less than three years! And deliveries are supposed to start in ‘late 2017?’ Not going to happen. Musk himself says the design isn’t even finished yet: ‘Pencils down’ some time in July.”
This time, skeptics might have a point. The manufacturing process I saw during a recent visit to Tesla’s Fremont factory can’t possibly grow by a factor of ten, an impossibility the guide acknowledges. "But,” he says, "you won’t recognize the place in a couple of years.” One hopes so, but the Model 3 is supposed to come out in 18 months. (More about the factory visit in the addenda.)

Perhaps Musk’s greatest talent is that he always manages to jump from one melting ice floe to the next bigger one, and to the next one after that. He was in the right place at the right time when he bought the Fremont factory for almost nothing, $42 million. He raised much-needed operating capital by offering a $1,000 preorder for the Model 3… and more than 400,000 aspirants took him up on it.
The same good fortune (or dark arts, depending on your inclination) applies to Tesla’s market capitalization. With the Solar City announcement, the company’s market cap was trimmed back to $32 billion, but at times it has been larger than Ford’s ($51 billion) and GM’s ($45 billion). Are Tesla shareholders simply fools who are hypnotized by a mountebank CEO? Or do they see a giant in the making and are willing to pay more for a share of a company that produces tens of thousands of cars a year than for shares from an incumbent that produces millions?

A look at market numbers reveals an interesting statistic: In the US, Tesla is winning the War of the S’s—Tesla’s Model S versus Mercedes S-Class:

Here, "winning” doesn’t mean that Tesla is profitable—the company lost $889 million in 2015 on $4 billion in revenue. But the company has gained a reputation far larger than its 0.15% share of the US auto market. The 400,000 Model 3 preorders shows a strong appetite for a "no punishment” electric car—by which I mean less limited, more fun car than a Nissan Leaf, for example.
Of course, there’s the infrastructure question: Is the all-electric car market viable without a network of charging stations? The garage under our office building hosts as many as ten Teslas on some days, with a good number of Chevy Volts, BMW i3s, and Nissan Leafs, all serviced by six outlets.
But that’s changing. The movement Tesla cleverly started by deploying its network of free Superchargers has been followed by an impressive number or for-profit charging stations, an indication of faith in the future of electric cars (with some help from taxpayers). A company called Chargepoint shows a map of the outlets in our neighborhood:

The limited but growing impact of the S and X models, the reaction to the Model 3, and the expanding charging infrastructure make me feel that electric cars will slowly but surely climb out of their little niche. It will, of course, take years before they go from their current 0.4% of the US market to 5%. That would be 900,000 cars, about Musk’s goal for Tesla alone in 2020.
Despite the delays, bugs, and overstatements, and in the face of incumbents who are determined to meet Tesla head-on—not to mention possible new players—I wouldn’t discount Elon Musk’s chances to succeed. And I’m curious to see what he’ll do with Solar City.

My better half recently took delivery of a Tesla Model S, thus giving us an opportunity to visit the Fremont factory. Visitors have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), are forbidden to take pictures or record sound, and are barred from divulging details of what they’ve seen or heard. This is perplexing: a YouTube Search for "Tesla factory Fremont” yields more than 3,000 hits with much robot porn. NDA or not, I can’t help compare the Fremont factory to the Honda factory in Marysville, Ohio that I visited eons ago. I found the contrast striking and will just say that Tesla’s production process doesn’t belong to the lean manufacturing category pioneered by Toyota and embraced by Honda. See "The Machine That Changed The World,” which has a sad chapter on the previous owner of the Fremont building.

Finally, I’ll only make a brief mention of the recent Florida accident in which a Tesla customer lost his life while apparently driving in autopilot mode. With all due respect for the victim and condolences to his family, I’d like to see more reliable data on the circumstances before commenting further.
The Gigabyte Aero 14 ultraportable gaming laptop, first announced in late May, is now available to purchase. The laptop boasts the features and power gamers need, all of it packed up in a lightweight shell. Among other things, Gigabyte says users can get up to 10 hours of run time using the larger battery, making it suitable for those days you need to be away from an outlet, as well as features like a QHD 2560 x 1440 IPS display and an Intel quad-core i7 H-series processor.

The Gigabyte Aero 14 laptop comprises the maker’s new slimline performance notebooks, and it is offered in three colors: black, orange, and green. True to its gaming foundation, users get an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M graphics card despite the laptop’s 19.9mm thickness. Joining that is DDR4 memory options, M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD, Type-C USB, and HDMI 2.0.

Im Asus-Notebook sitzt ein Core i3-4005U mit 1,7 GHz. Der Prozessor stammt aus Intels Haswell-Familie, der vierten Core-Generation, die Ende 2013 auf den Markt kam. Sein Nachfolger Core i3-5005U mit 2 GHz, der im genauso günstigen Acer Aspire E15 sitzt, arbeitet im CPU-Test Cinebench R15 rund 20 Prozent schneller. In System-Test schmilzt dieser Tempo-Vorsprung aber auf rund fünf Prozent zusammen.

Besonders bei Alltagsaufgaben wie Surfen oder Office gibt es kaum Unterschiede. Nur bei prozessorintensiven Multimedia-Aufgaben wie dem Umwandeln von Video- oder Musikformaten kann der Core i3 aus der fünften Generation einen Vorsprung von zehn Prozent oder mehr herausholen. Wenn das nicht Ihre Kernbeschäftigung am Notebook ist, können Sie unbesorgt auf den Haswell-Prozessor setzen.Richtig spieletauglich ist das Asus F554L nicht: Sie müssen schon auf Spiele zurückgreifen, die drei Jahre oder älter sind, um wenigstens bei mittlerer Detailstufe flüssige Bildraten zu erzielen.

Für Basisaufgaben ist das Asus F554L ausreichend ausgestattet: Bei der Seagate-Festplatte zählt vor allem ihre Größe mit 1 Terabyte - schnell ist sie nämlich nicht. Einen DVD-Brenner bringt das Notebook ebenfalls mit. Das Schnittstellenangebot dürfte für die meisten Anwendungszwecke ausreichen: Einen externen Monitor können Sie per HDMI- oder VGA-Ausgang anschließen, Peripheriegeräte über drei USB-Ports (1x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0). Beim SD-Kartenleser müssen Sie berücksichtigen, dass er intern nur per USB 2.0 angeschlossen ist, nicht per PCI-Express: Bei schnellen Speicherkarten erreichen Sie deshalb nicht das maximale Übertragungstempo.

Das Gehäuse des F554L ist angenehm schmal: Deshalb musste Asus die Netzwerkbuchse verkleinern. Um ein LAN-Kabel anzuschließen, müssen Sie sie aufklappen. Das WLAN arbeitet nur mit dem älteren 11n-Standard und ausschließlich auf der häufig überfüllten 2,4 GHz-Frequenz.

Üblicherweise erfordert ein günstiges Notebook den größten Kompromiß bei der Displayqualität - das Asus F554L macht da keine Ausnahme: Das 15,6-Zoll-Display zeigt 1366 x 768 Pixel, was eine sehr mäßige Punktdichte von 100 ppi ergibt. Buchstaben wirken deshalb nicht glatt und wie gedruckt, sondern lassen Stufen erkennen. Daher sieht das Bild insgesamt leicht unscharf aus.

Die Helligkeit liegt nur bei 170 cd/qm, der Kontrast immerhin bei ganz ordentlichen 927:1: Beide Werte sind für die Arbeit an Texten und Tabellen annehmbar, Filme und Fotos machen auf dem Asus-Notebook aber weniger Spaß. Sie müssen auch darauf achten, dass Lichtquellen nicht direkt auf den Bildschirm strahlen, da die spiegelnde Oberfläche sie reflektiert. Noch dazu hat der Bildschirm einen sehr eingeschränkten Blickwinkel: Sitzen Sie nicht optimal vor dem Display, sondern schauen etwas von oben darauf, verändern sich Kontrast und Farben.

Das Asus F554L ist etwas schlanker und leichter als viele Notebooks aus derselben Preisklasse: Es ist 25,5 Millimeter hoch und wiegt nur knapp über zwei Kilogramm. Zusammen mit dem schwarzen, an den Ecken abgerundeten Gehäuse und Details wie dem metallisch glänzenden Logo auf dem Deckel macht das Notebook einen guten Eindruck. Die Akkulaufzeit fällt mit knapp vier Stunden aber nur sehr mäßig aus: Das liegt auch daran, dass Asus das geringe Gewicht mit einem Verzicht auf einen großen Akku erreicht. Der Stromspender fasst lediglich 35,8 Wattstunden.

Beim Schreiben biegt sich die Tastatur spürbar durch, beim schnellen Tippen klappert sie daher unangenehm laut. Tastenhub und Druckrückmeldung sind aber ordentlich, sodass Sie deutlich merken, wenn Sie eine Taste gedrückt haben. Allerdings bekommen Sie kein einheitliches Druckgefühl - die Tastatur fühlt sich auf der linken Seite anders an als rechts: Diese Kleinigkeiten können stören, wenn Sie häufig längere Texte tippen. Ebenfalls laut, aber mit klarem Druckpunkt präsentiert sich das große Touchpad.

Steht das Notebook unter voller Last, hören Sie den Lüfter deutlich rauschen. Immerhin arbeitet er auch kräftig und bringt die Abwärme schnell aus dem Gehäuse. Die Lüfteröffnungen sitzen zwischen Tastatur und Displayscharnier - eine sinnvolle Lösung, denn so bilden sich oben auf der Tastatur oder unten am Gehäuseboden keine Hot-Spots :Wo Sie in Kontakt mit dem Notebookgehäuse kommen, wird es nicht übermäßig warm.

Gigabytes Aero 14 gehört zu den Notebooks, die zwar spieletauglich sind, aber zugleich auch noch als Arbeitsgerät genutzt werden können. Das Gerät ist vergleichsweise leicht und auch in einer dezenten Farbvariante zu haben.
Gigabyte hat mit dem Aero 14 bald ein weiteres leistungsstarkes 14-Zoll-Notebook im Angebot, das parallel zum P34 angeboten werden soll. Das Aero 14 ist für Spieler gedacht, die auch gerne mit dem Gerät arbeiten wollen. Mit einem Gewicht von rund 1,9 Kilogramm und einer Dicke von etwa 2 Zentimetern ist das Gerät noch portabel.

Der Akku des Notebooks ist mit rund 94 Wattstunden ziemlich groß. Das ist sogar mehr als beim reinen Spielemodell unter der Aorus-Marke von Gigabyte, dem X3 Plus v5. Dessen Akku hat nur 73 Wattstunden. Mit den 94 Wattstunden des Aero 14 soll der Anwender ungefähr 10 Stunden arbeiten können. Im Spielebetrieb reduziert sich das erwartungsgemäß drastisch. Zwei bis drei Stunden sollen möglich sein, so Gigabyte auf Nachfrage in Taipeh.

Mit dem Akku muss allerdings leistungsfähige Hardware versorgt werden. Als Prozessor verbaut Gigabyte einen Core i7-6700HQ mit vier Kernen, die bei genug thermalem Spielraum von 2,6 auf 3,5 GHz getaktet werden können. Als Arbeitsspeicher werden 8 oder 16 GByte verbaut. Eine dedizierte Grafikkarte gibt es entweder in Form einer Nvidia Geforce GTX 970M oder 965M. Mit der Grafikeinheit wird ein mattes IPS-Panel mit 2.560 x 1.440 Pixeln angesteuert.

Die Flashspeicherbestückung wird mit maximal 2 x 512 GByte angegeben. Diese stecken in zwei M.2-Slots (2280er Bauform) und unterstützen NVM Express als Protokoll sowie die Datenverbindung per PCIe mit vier Lanes. Anschlussseitig bietet das Gerät USB 3.0 (über Typ A), USB 3.1 (über Typ C), HDMI 2.0, Mini-Displayport, einen Headsetanschluss sowie einen SD-Kartenleser. Für drahtlose Verbindungen gibt es 802.11ac-WLAN und Bluetooth 4.1 inklusive Low-Energy.

Einer der Hauptkonkurrenten für das Aero 14 dürfte das Razer Blade mit 70-WH-Akku sein, das für ein Spieler-Notebook noch recht dezent im Design ist. Einen ähnlichen Ansatz verfolgt Gigabyte, zumindest wenn das Modell mit dem schwarzen Displaydeckel gewählt wird.Neben einem schwarzen Displaydeckel gibt es das Notebook auch in grellen Signalfarben, die etwas an Outdoor-Equipment erinnern. In dem auffälligen Orange und Neongrün müsste das Notebook auch unter Wasser gut auffindbar sein. Es ist trotz dieser Farben aber nicht für den Außeneinsatz vorgesehen.

Das Notebook soll im Laufe des Juni 2016 verfügbar sein. Preise stehen noch nicht fest.Microsofts Laptop-Erstling soll ein dickes Ausrufezeichen setzen. Kann Microsoft seine Vorreiterrolle als Innovator behaupten oder scheitert das Surface Book an seinen Ambitionen?Als das Surface Book ganz am Ende des Windows-Events in New York ziemlich überraschend präsentiert wurde, überschlugen sich die Kommentare im Netz. Microsoft schien mit seinem "One More Thing" ein großer Wurf geglückt zu sein, darin waren sich unmittelbar nach der Vorstellung fast alle einig. Ein Notebook, das toll aussieht, erstklassig verarbeitet ist und feinste Technik beherbergt - und das kurzerhand in ein Tablet umgewandelt werden soll. Geht's noch besser?

Inzwischen sind einige Wochen vergangen, die Testgeräte sind in den Redaktionen der Fachpresse eingetrudelt, Vorbestellungen konnten seit Anfang 2016 abgegeben werden, ab sofort wird das Surface Book auch in Deutschland ausgeliefert. Und die Begeisterung? Die ist immer noch da. Die meisten Tester sind sich einig: Microsoft hat sehr viel richtig gemacht. Wer einige Tage mit dem Surface Book verbringt, wird das nur bestätigen können. Klar wird im Test aber auch: Nicht alles an dem teuren Schmuckstück ist perfekt, ganz ohne Macken kommt das Surface Book nicht aus.Wenn das Smartphone ins Waschbecken oder das Glas Wasser über den Laptop gefallen ist, ist der Schock groß. Doch wer schnell und besonnen reagiert, kann das Gerät retten.Was die richtigen Schritte sind, wenn Elektronik nass geworden ist, erklärt Marcus Engert.In der Regel folgt ja erst mal die Schockstarre bei einem selbst. Man steht daneben, fassungslos und weiß überhaupt nicht, was mache ich jetzt und kann sich nicht vorstellen, dass einem das selbst passiert. Und genau das ist schon der erste Fehler. Es heißt nämlich wirklich ganz schnell und ganz rabiat und ganz rücksichtslos handeln. Also: Gerät sofort raus dem Wasser und nehmen und unmittelbar danach Akku raus! Hier zählen wirklich Sekunden. Überhaupt keine Sorgen machen, um fehlerhaftes Herunterfahren oder so was. Es geht einfach nur darum, möglichst schnell den Kurzschluss zu vermeiden.

Was ist, wenn ich den Akku nicht rausnehmen kann?Ist ja tatsächlich ein Problem bei manchen neuen Geräten. Beim neuen iPhone zum Beispiel ist das der Fall. Da kann ich den Akku nicht selbst rausnehmen – und das ist dann eine ganz doofe Situation. Da bleibt nur: das Gerät sofort ausschalten und hoffen, dass das fürs erste jeden Stromfluss unterbindet. In jedem Fall: ab sofort das Gerät mit dem Display nur nach oben halten. Jetzt haben wir also ein nass gewordenes Telefon vor uns liegen und was wäre dein nächster Reflex?

Irgendwie muss das Ding auf jeden Fall trocken werden und ich neige dazu viele Sachen zu föhnen zum Beispiel, oder eine Heizung…

Ja, das wäre auch mein erster Reflex gewesen und das ist genau falsch. Denn mit einem Föhn würde der Luftdruck nur dafür sorgen, dass das Wasser noch in Ecken des Gerätes gedrückt wird, wo es vorher überhaupt noch nicht war. Der nächste Schritt ist erstmal: alle SIM-Karten raus, alle Speicherkarten raus, Akku und Gehäuse abtrocknen, soweit es denn von Außen geht. Dann kann man an den Stellen, wo man jetzt noch Wasser sieht, schon mal mit dem eigenen Mund oder mit dem Staubsauger absaugen. Wichtig ist wirklich immer: Luftzug vom Gerät weg. Also, saugen, nicht pusten. Und jetzt als nächstes heißt es, Geduld mitbringen.

Asus A42-UL30 Battery

You can fold the keyboard over the display to protect the screen when the tablet’s not in use. And when you just want to use the computer as a tablet you can either remove the keyboard and set it aside or flip it back so that it’s hanging out behind the back of the tablet.While the keys are plastic, Acer used a sort of velvety fabric-style material for the rest of the keyboard cover. It feels pretty nice when you rest your palms on it, but the black keyboard also has a habit of collecting specs of dust which can be kind of tough to brush away.You can either position the keyboard to lie flat on a table or desk or tilt it up at a slight angle by magnetically attaching the top edge of the keyboard to the bottom bezel of the tablet. It will actually cover almost all of that bottom bezel, which has an odd side effect: it’s a little awkward (but not impossible) to reach up from the keyboard and icons in the Windows taskbar, since your finger is basically resting on the edge of the keyboard when you do this.

Still, I generally prefer using the keyboard at an angle… but I was a bit surprised at how much the keyboard would bounce when I first started typing on it. Over time I got used to it and don’t find it to be particularly distracting: I can type just as quickly on the Switch Alpha 12 as on any other laptop keyboard when it’s on a flat surface like a desk or table.While you can use the computer on your lap, it feels a bit more precarious than a normal laptop. That’s because the tablet is held up by a kickstand, not a hinge. That means instead of resting the solid bottom of a notebook on your lap, you need to balance three parts: the kickstand, the front of the tablet, and the keyboard. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to type with the Switch Alpha 12 on your lap, but it certainly isn’t easy.

The adjustable hinge works great on flat surfaces though, giving you far more control over the position of the screen than you’d get on a device like the Huawei Matebook which is held in place by the keyboard cover and which can only be propped up in one or two positions.The Switch Alpha 12’s kickstand supports angles up to 165 degrees and offers just enough resistance to hold firmly in place without being too difficult to adjust.Lifting the kickstand away from the tablet can be a two-hand job, but once the kickstand is open, it’s pretty easy to adjust the angle using one hand or two.

While the Acer Active Pen doesn’t come with all models of the tablet, you can tell that the Switch Alpha 12 was designed with the pen in mind. Each version of the tablet has an active digitizer with pen support, and there’s a loop on the left side of the keyboard for storing the pen when you’re not using it.The pen supports 256 levels of pressure sensitivity and palm rejection. It also has two buttons which can be used to change pen functions in some apps. For example, in Fresh Paint, you can hold down one button to use the pen as an eraser, and another to move a selection.

You can also use the Acer Hover Access utility to determine what those buttons do when you’re not using an app with pen support (although your choices are pretty much limited to launching the Hover Access program with one button and a different program with the other).

Artists or folks with better handwriting than mine might appreciate the $50 accessory for the way you can use it to write or draw. Even though my handwriting is awful, Windows usually does a pretty good job of deciphering my chicken scratch. It’s just that I find typing to be a much faster and more pleasant way to enter text.

Even though I don’t write or draw much, there are a few things I really like about using a pen with tablets like the Switch Alpha 12. First up, the pen tip is way more precise than a fingertip: it can be easy to tap the wrong thing when you’re using your fingers to interact with a Windows tablet, especially one with a pixel-dense screen. Using a fine-tipped pen feels more like using a mouse.Maybe the best thing about using a pen and active digitizer is that you can "hover” the pen over the screen without touching it to view an on-screen cursor.

Then you can move that cursor around the same way you would with a mouse, and if you’re running apps designed for keyboard and mouse input, this lets you "hover” the stylus over links, buttons, or other items to view context menus or other content that would usually be inaccessible if you were just using your fingers.Is it worth spending an extra $50 to get the Acer Active Pen? That depends on how you plan to use the Switch Alpha 12. It can certainly come in handy if you want to run desktop Windows software while holding the tablet in your hands, or if you want to make use of the "inking” features of Windows 10 such as handwriting recognition. But if you primarily plan to run tablet-style Universal Windows Platform apps when using the Switch Alpha as a tablet, and primarily expect to use a keyboard and touchpad (or mouse) in laptop mode, then the Active Pen isn’t an absolute necessity.

In terms of raw horsepower, the Acer Switch Alpha 12 really does offer the kind of performance I’d expect from a laptop. In fact, the model Acer sent me to review has similar specs to the Asus Zenbook UX305UA laptop I reviewed recently, and unsurprisingly benchmark scores for the two computers are pretty similar.That’s particularly impressive when you consider the fact that the Switch Alpha 12 is fanless, and the Zenbook UX305UA is not… and that the Switch Alpha 12 has a smaller body. It also has higher-resolution, 2160 x 1440 pixel display (compared with the Zenbook’s 1920 x 1080 pixel screen).

Both the Switch Alpha 12 and the Zenbook UX305UA finished my audio transcoding test in 12 seconds, and my folder zip test in 27. The laptop was a little faster in video transcoding tests, but both machines were pretty fast… especially when compared with computers featuring the kinds of chips you’d normally expect to find in fanless tablets: Core M or Pentium processors.Results will probably vary depending on the exact model of Switch Alpha 12: while the unit featured in this review has a Core i5-6200U processor and 8GB of RAM, other models may have Core i3 or Core i7 chips and as little as 4GB of RAM. All models should feature Intel HD 520 graphics.

Intel’s integrated graphics have come a long way in recent years, and while I wouldn’t recommend this as a computer for hardcore gamers, it notched a respectable score in the Street Fighter IV benchmark and I had no problems playing Batman: Arkham Asylum on the computer.The system has a reasonably fast solid state drive. According to CrystalDiskMark, it had sequential read speeds up to 539 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 333 MB/s.

I did notice that some CPU-heavy tasks such as audio and video transcoding were slower when the tablet was running on battery power than when it was plugged in. But I was using the computer’s default power saving settings. You could probably boost performance while on battery power a bit, but that’ll probably take a toll on battery life.Speaking of battery life, Acer says you should be able to get "up to” 8 hours of battery life, but acknowledges that a more realistic run time is around 5-6 hours when surfing the web over WiFi or up to about 6:30 hours when watching videos (with WiFi disabled).

I’d say real-world performance is probably closer to 4-6 hours, depending on what you’re using the computer for.Just for fun, I decided to see if I could squeeze some extra battery life from the tablet by using the Microsoft Edge web browser instead of Chrome. Microsoft says it puts less strain on system resources, helping you get longer run time.Since I wanted to be able to use the LastPass extension with Edge, though, I had to switch to switch to an Insider Preview build of Windows… and I wound up abandoning the experiment after a few days, because the preview version of Edge was pretty crash-prone. So most of my battery life observations were made while using the Chrome web browser.

While 5 hours of battery life isn’t exactly stellar by 2016 standards, it’s not all that bad for a 2 pound tablet with a Core i5 processor. Since the battery isn’t user-replaceable though, I do worry about what kind of run time you’ll be able to get from this tablet in two or three years when the battery starts to wear down.Acer positions the Switch Alpha 12 as a laptop, but it also function as a tablet. Remove the keyboard (or flip it around so that it’s behind the screen), and you can hold the tablet in your hands.

Windows 10’s Continuum software allows the tablet to automatically switch between desktop and tablet user interfaces depending on whether the keyboard is set up for use or not. In tablet mode the start menu becomes a full-page start screen, a simplified version of the taskbar is displayed, and apps run either in full-screen or split screen views rather than in floating windows.You don’t need to use tablet mode, but it can make some apps a little easier to interact with if you’re using the Switch Alpha 12 as a tablet rather than a laptop. I installed the Amazon Kindle app and did a little reading this way. But ultimately I found a 2 pound tablet to be a bit heavy to hold in my hands for an extended period. Or maybe the problem was the tablet’s 16:10 aspect ratio display, which makes it more awkward to hold than a heavy hardcover book.

The 2160 x 1440 pixel display generally does a great job of displaying graphics and text. Colors look good and the screen brightness can be adjusted from awfully bright to awfully dim. But even though high-resolution displays are becoming increasingly common, some Windows programs can still look funny on screens with high pixel densities.

For example, image editing application GIMP runs quite well on the Switch Alpha 12… but the menus and tool icons look tiny. In fact, they’re so small that if you tried to reach up and touch the "rectangle select tool” with your fingertip, you’d be pretty likely to accidentally hit the adjacent "ellipse select tool” or "fuzzy elect tool” instead.Before uploading images for this website, I usually resize them so that they’re no more than 680 pixels wide. When I do that with either GIMP or Irfanview, the images look really small on this screen with 2160 horizontal pixels. But when I upload the same image to WordPress using a web browser, it looks much larger, since the browser correctly scales up the graphics.

The inconsistent ways that Windows programs deal with high-DPI displays isn’t as big an issue as it used to be. But it’s still something to consider before buying a 12 inch tablet or laptop with a high resolution screen.The front-facing stereo speakers are loud enough and clear enough for basic usage. But like most laptop or tablet speakers, they’re not really meant for dance parties. Fortunately you can use the 3.5mm audio jack or Bluetooth to connect headphones or external speakers.While the Switch 12 Alpha doesn’t have a dedicated HDMI or VGA port, you should be able to hook up an external display using the USB 3.1 Type-C port. But you may need a special adapter cable to do that.

I had no problems typing text on the full-sized keyboard, but I’ve never been a fan of the way Acer crams six tiny arrow/Fn keys into the bottom right corner of its keyboards.While testing this laptop I frequently wound up adjusting the screen brightness when I was trying to adjust the volume, or hit the Page Up or Page Down keys when I had meant to press the left or right arrow keys.Located in the top left corner of the tablet, it’s easy to find the power button with your fingers even if you’re not looking at it. But turning the tablet on can be a little trickier.I’ve found that when the Switch Alpha 12 is sleeping or turned off, you typically have to press and hold the power button for several seconds before anything happens. When you’ve been away from the tablet for a few minutes and the screen goes dark, you can give the power button a quick tap to bring the display back on.

Come rigenerare la batteria del vostro NotebookSe l’autonomia complessiva della batteria è calata drasticamente in poco tempo, un piccolo espediente, per tentare di migliorare la situazione, consiste nell’effettuare alcuni cicli di carica/scarica consecutivi. La procedura è molto semplice: disconnettere il vostro notebook dal suo alimentatore, accenderlo e lasciare che si scarichi completamente. Quando il sistema andrà in stand-by, attendete ancora fino a quando non si sarà completamente spento: non c’è una tempistica standard, in quanto l’autonomia residua in stand-by potrebbe essere di una decina di ore come di un giorno. Un trucco per velocizzare questo passaggio è andare ad impostare lo stand-by automatico solo al raggiungimento di un livello molto basso della batteria.

A questo punto, ricollegate il computer all’alimentatore e attendente 3/4 ore, in modo da ricaricare completamente la batteria. Ripetete questa operazione 5 o 6 volte, lasciando riposare (raffreddare) la batteria dopo ogni ciclo di carica/scarica, sarà sufficiente mantenerlo spento e sconnetterlo dall’alimentatore per un breve periodo.L'elemento chiave della nuova tecnologia

Ad ogni ciclo di ricarica le normali batterie perdono efficienza, in altre parole più le batterie vengono ricaricate e meno diventano efficienti. Dopo poche centinaia di cicli di carica generalmente le batterie riescono ad immagazzinare solo una piccola quantità di carica (chiunque possiede un computer portatile o un telefono cellulare conosce bene questo fenomeno).

200.000 cicli di ricarica con una perdita di capacità trascurabile
Gli esperimenti di laboratorio hanno mostrato che il nuovo sistema potrebbe sopportare 200.000 cicli di carica per un periodo di oltre tre mesi perdendo solo il 5 per cento della sua capacità totale.

Dal primo di aprile entreranno in vigore delle nuove normative della IATA, l’associazione delle compagnie aeree di tutto il mondo, che renderanno più difficile spedire in aereo batterie al litio e agli ioni di litio, quelle usate comunemente in cellulari, tablet e computer portatili. Le nuove regole prevedono che le batterie non contenute in altro equipaggiamento o in un prodotto (se sono parte di un computer, per esempio) potranno essere spedite solo rispettando alcune indicazioni per quanto riguarda il loro confezionamento e solo con voli cargo, quindi non nelle stive dei normali voli civili. nuove normative avranno alcune conseguenze anche se normalmente non vi occupate di spedizioni di batterie. La più evidente è che se vivete sulle isole, dove molte volte le consegne sono fatte per via aerea, sarà più difficile ottenere alcuni prodotti come i powerbank, quelle batterie da viaggio che si usano per ricaricare telefoni e tablet quando non si può usare la rete elettrica. Amazon, per esempio, ha già sospeso le consegne di powerbank e batterie sulle isole italiane. Diversamente da quanto si legge oggi su alcuni siti, Amazon ha spiegato al Post che le consegne a Venezia – che pure è inserita nella lista delle isole – non saranno sospese.
Amazon non effettua più spedizioni di batterie, powerbank e altri prodotti agli ioni di litio verso le isole italiane. Sulla pagina ufficiale del sito si legge di nuove restrizioni per gli articoli che "contengono sostanze infiammabili, pressurizzate, ossidanti, corrosive, pericolose per l'ambiente, irritanti o dannose". Esclusi invece i colli con batterie integrate: si pensi ad esempio a smartphone o notebook che verranno recapitati regolarmente.

Nello specifico nella blacklist italiana ci sono: Sardegna, Sicilia, Venezia, Ponza, Capraia, Isola d'Elba, Isola del Giglio, Monte Argentario, Isole Tremiti, Bacoli, Capri, Ischia e Procida. "Restrizioni analoghe o ulteriori potrebbero essere applicate anche dai venditori Marketplace. Eventuali restrizioni alla spedizione verranno visualizzate al momento dell'ordine", prosegue la nota.

Il motivo di questa restrizione è legato alle nuove normative ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) che entreranno in vigore a partire dal primo aprile 2016. In pratica è stato deciso il bando delle spedizioni di batterie al litio nelle stive degli aerei passeggeri. Tollerate ancora le spedizioni sugli aerei cargo (full freight) ma con forti limitazioni: la carica non deve essere superiore al 30% dell'autonomia complessiva.Amazon fa sapere che la vendita di questi prodotti è sempre possibile, mentre la spedizione può subire forti limitazioni proprio perché per rispettare i tempi di consegna la via aerea è spesso la più impiegata dai corrieri.

Nonostante il mercato dei PC sia in declino ormai da tempo, Apple non sembra preoccuparsene troppo. Anzi, la società con sede a Cupertino può dirsi più che soddisfatta delle performace dei suoi computer, sia desktop che laptop. Come mostrano diverse statistiche, i PC della mela morsicata vendono bene tanto da "mettere in pericolo" le prospettive di crescita di altri prodotti (come gli iPad). Un successo commerciale che interessa non solo Apple: molte società, infatti, provano ad approfittarne realizzando gadget e accessori per Macbook Air e Macbook Pro. Productioneel zit alles perfect in elkaar. Watergolfjes op de achtergrond als Mr Probz Waves inzet; gitaren als de beurt is aan Kensington. Met iedere drumroffel die eindigt in een bass drop spuit er synchroon vuur uit podiumzuilen.Maar wat doet Armin daar zelf nog achter die tafel met laptop? Hij wappert vooral in de lucht, interactie met de muzikanten lijkt beperkt. Na werk van zijn laatste album verpakt hij samples van klassiekers als Dominator en Can You Feel it in een trancejasje – net zo makkelijk als hij dat doet met Brightside en een song van Adele. Het heeft wat van effectbejag.Tegen het eind herinnert hij hoe zijn podcast State of Trance begon met het nummer I’m in a state of trance. Dat klinkt wel authentiek. Fans in de zaal zijn het trance-icoon al die twintig jaar trouw gebleven, getuige hun leeftijd, maar in deze show is Armin van Buuren toch iets te ver afgedwaald.

De Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is een interessant toestel met een nog interessantere prijs. Kan het echter opboksen tegen de gevestigde orde? De concurrentie voor betaalbare smartphones is immers nogal hevig.Het aanbod van goedkope, goede smartphones was nog nooit zo breed. Vooral Huawei, Honor en Motorola bieden toestellen aan die hoog scoren in de prijs/kwaliteitverhouding. Ook Sony en LG bieden echter goede smartphones aan voor een strakke prijs. Er was nog een fabrikant die echt ontbrak, en dat was Samsung. Vorig jaar stopte het bedrijf zelfs helemaal met het aanbieden van telefoons onder de 150 euro.

Toch bleek die aankondiging vooral betrekking te hebben op toestellen zoals de Galaxy Pocket, de Galaxy Young en de Galaxy Prime. Toestelseries die inmiddels niet meer bestaan. In plaats daarvan kwam onderin het modellensegment van Samsung de Galaxy J-serie. Goedkoper dan dit zouden Samsung-toestellen niet worden, en daarmee hanteerde het bedrijf een duidelijke ondergrens van wat ze nog als smartphone wilden uitbrengen.

Het ontwerp van de Galaxy J3 (2016) is niet erg bijzonder te noemen. Het is in alle aspecten een klassiek Samsung-ontwerp. Dat maakt het toestel direct als Samsung herkenbaar, maar het betekent ook dat het een nogal anoniem ontwerp is. Het zoeken naar een foto van de Galaxy J3 (2016) wordt bijvoorbeeld ernstig bemoeilijkt doordat de Galaxy J3 van de vorige generatie zo goed als hetzelfde eruit ziet.

Dat het een dertien-in-een-dozijn model is, doet verder overigens niets af aan de functionaliteit. De J3 ligt fijn in de hand en de knoppen aan de zijkant en voorkant hebben een fijne feedback. De achterkant voelt een beetje gladjes aan maar is niet onprettig. De camera steekt wat uit, want dat was enige tijd geleden hip. De behuizing is overigens van plastic, en dus niet van metaal zoals we tegenwoordig steeds vaker zien. Ook Samsung's A-serie is bijvoorbeeld voor een deel opgetrokken uit metaal. Als budgetserie moeten de Galaxy J-toestellen het echter nog steeds doen met plastic.

Met zijn 5 inch scherm voorop is de J3 niet de grootste telefoon die we ooit in onze handen hebben gehad, maar echt compact is hij nou ook weer niet. De randen rondom het scherm zijn vrij dun. Vooral onder het scherm heeft Samsung de fysieke home-knop en de aanraaktoetsen klein gehouden. Uiteindelijk kom je uit op een telefoon die 142 mm hoog is en 71 mm breed. Ter vergelijking: dat is ongeveer even breed als de 70 mm van de Galaxy S7. Niet slecht.

Met een 5 inch scherm kiest Samsung duidelijk voor de veilige weg. Met dat formaat hou je de mensen tevreden die geen al te groot scherm willen, maar veroordeel je de gebruikers ook niet tot gepriegel op de vierkante milimeter. Al met al een formaat waar je de gemiddelde gebruiker een plezier mee doet. Het is geen toeval dat andere populaire toestellen met een schappelijke prijs ook een 5 inch scherm hebben.

Dan de resolutie, van 800 bij 1280 pixels. Door de niet te hoge resolutie houdt Samsung de prijs van het toestel binnen de perken. Overigens is de gebruikte technologie niet LCD, zoals we in deze prijsklasse vaak zien. Hier heeft Samsung wel zijn eigen stempel gedrukt op de J3, want het toestel is voorzien van een voor de fabrikant karakteristiek AMOLED-scherm.

De gevolgen voor de kwaliteit zijn goed. De J3 (2016) heeft een bovengemiddeld beeldscherm. De kleuren zijn goed en de helderheid is prima, maar niet geweldig. Het contrast is, zoals altijd bij AMOLED-schermen, uitmuntend. Dat komt omdat met deze technologie de zwarte delen van het beeldscherm ook echt uitstaan. Dat levert mooi diepzwart op en als kleine bonus, een verminderd stroomverbruik.

Het is echter niet uitsluitend geweldig. Zoals we al zeiden, is de helderheid niet het sterkste onderdeel van dit scherm. Toch is dat niet zo erg dat het hinderlijk wordt. Waar we ons tijdens de reviewperiode wel over verbaasden, waren de kijkhoeken. Als je het scherm een beetje van onder bekijkt, heeft dat nogal effect op de beeldkwaliteit. Een echt groot bezwaar is dat ook weer niet, want in 98 procent van de gevallen heb je het toestel gewoon vast wanneer je ernaar kijkt.

Hardware en batterij De J3 (2016) was verrassend vlot. Nou is Android an sich ook niet een heel zwaar besturingssysteem, en wordt het vaak vooral langzaam van de uitgebreide skins die fabrikanten eroverheen gooien. We willen echter niet zeggen dat de TouchWiz-skin van Samsung heel erg minimalistisch was. In dagelijks gebruik was de J3 echter fijn snel en nauwelijks te betrappen op stotteren.

We willen wel nog een kanttekening plaatsen bij de aanwezige 8 GB aan opslagruimte. Dat is wat krap voor de gemiddelde gebruiker, maar helaas te vaak standaard in deze prijscategorie. Het bieden van een simkaartslot lost die problemen slechts ten dele op. Je kan immers geen apps op die kaart zetten, alleen foto's, video's en muziek kan je op dat kaartje plempen. Zeker als je bedenkt dat er standaard nog maar zo'n 3 GB aan beschikbare ruimte overblijft voor de gebruiker, omdat Android en Samsung's eigen apps ook hun ruimte innemen.

Ook bij de batterij is de capaciteit het grootste struikelblok. Met een 2600 mAh batterij zit er geen al te kleine accu in de J3, maar we snappen nog steeds niet waarom Samsung niet gewoon kiest voor een exemplaar van 3500 mAh of meer. Dan mag het toestel wat ons betreft best wat dikker worden, maar dan kan je in ieder geval gewoon makkelijk twee dagen op 1 batterijlading doorkomen. Nu kan dat ook, maar dan moet je wel voorzichtig met het toestel omspringen. Daar zouden bovendien veel mensen best wat meer voor willen betalen.

De Galaxy J3 (2016) draait op dit moment nog op Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Daaroverheen zit de gebruikelijke TouchWiz-skin van Samsung, die we inmiddels vrij goed kennen. Het is een skin die prima werkt, en een paar handige extra's biedt. Het blijft altijd een beetje een kwestie van smaak of de designkeuzes die Samsung maakt, je bevallen. Wij zijn er over het algemeen wel tevreden mee.

De hoeveelheid apps die Samsung meelevert zijn ook niet al te talrijk. Zeker, je krijgt een eigen browser, een emailclient en het gebruikelijke agendaprogramma genaamd S Planner. De rest van de apps kan je van Samsung downloaden via de Galaxy Store, maar je kan natuurlijk ook de Google-apps gebruiken die dankzij Google verplicht op het toestel moeten staan. Die nemen overigens vrij veel ruimte in, iets dat vooral steekt omdat er zo weinig opslagruimte beschikbaar is.

Het is verder opvallend dat Samsung het toestel uitrust met Android 5.1 Lollipop. Dat had wat ons betreft best af fabriek Marshmallow mogen zijn. De Galaxy J-toestellen die in Zuid-Korea worden verkocht komen bovendien wél standaard met Android 6.0 aan boord, dus het heeft alles van een haastige Europese release. Overigens heeft Samsung wel aangekondigd dat de update ook naar de Galaxy J-toestellen in andere landen komt. Hij kwam echter niet meer op tijd om door ons te kunnen worden gereviewed.Wat het meest beklijft bij de software van de Galaxy A3 (2016) is dat het allemaal van een leien dakje gaat. Geen enkel moment kregen we het idee dat het toestel echt langzaam was. Als je het toestel aanzet, hoef je niet lang te wachten, en ook ontgrendelen gaat vlot. Zo ben je in onder een seconde waar je wezen moet: het homescreen. Dat zien we graag.

Avec son système unique de photos éphémères, Snapchat a déjà séduit plus de cinquante millions d'utilisateurs. Vous n'avez que dix secondes maximum pour profiter des clichés que l'on vous envoie. À mi-chemin entre la photo et le réseau social, l'application est idéale pour partager vos petites joies passagères avec vos proches.
À mi-chemin entre la tablette et l'ordinateur, le Chromebook est parti à la conquête du marché des PC portables d'entrée de gamme. Fin, léger, démarrant quasi instantanément, conçu pour fonctionner avec des applications stockées sur le cloud, le Chromebook commence à rencontrer son public. Il devrait s'en vendre 5,2 millions dans le monde en 2014, selon Gartner. Le cabinet d'études mise sur une constante accélération des ventes, avec un marché mondial qui devrait s'établir à 14,4 millions en 2017.

«La concurrence s'est intensifiée sur le marché des Chromebook, avec huit modèles sur le marché en 2014», explique Isabelle Durand, analyste principale chez Gartner. Les Chromebook devraient toutefois rester un marché de niche face aux PC pendant les cinq prochaines années. Cette année, quelque 308 millions de PC devraient être écoulés dans le monde. Mais après? Porté par une demande de plus en plus forte des consommateurs ou de secteurs comme l'éducation, le Chromebook semble avoir de beaux jours devant lui.Cette montée en puissance vient fragiliser un peu plus le marché des PC traditionnels. L'an dernier, Samsung représentait près de 70 % des ventes de Chromebook et décidait de se désengager des PC. Lenovo et HP, respectivement numéro un et deux sur le marché des ordinateurs, se sont aussi positionnés sur ce créneau. Acer a dévoilé ce 11 août le dernier-né de sa gamme Chromebook, l'Acer Chromebook 13: 13 comme la taille de son écran (en pouces) et l'autonomie de sa batterie (en heures). Il est commercialisé à 299 euros.

Cette tendance est surtout une mauvaise nouvelle pour Microsoft. Les Chromebook tournent sous Chrome OS, un système d'exploitation développé par Google, qui met en avant ses applications et ses services de stockage en ligne. Déjà fragilisé par les tablettes, Microsoft a de plus en plus de mal à imposer son propre système opérationnel, Windows. Mi-juillet, lors de la Worldwide Partner Conference, le groupe a annoncé qu'il se positionnait finalement en face des Chromebook, en mettant en avant des PC dont le prix de vente est compris entre 200 et 300 dollars. Reste à savoir si les clients potentiels trouveront plus «cool» d'avoir un Chromebook ou un PC.
Ils n’ont que ces deux mots à la bouche: réalité virtuelle. Tous les constructeurs foncent tête baissée sur un marché prometteur. Dont Samsung, bien sûr, avec son Gear VR: ce casque de réalité virtuelle réalisé en partenariat avec le champion de la discipline, Oculus, est totalement dédié au Galaxy Note 4. Une fois vissé sur la tête, place au spectacle et à l’immersion: vidéo, jeux vidéo, animation en 3D… Une grosse claque visuelle. Pour que l’expérience soit intégrale, il faut impérativement y ajouter un casque audio. Un gros bémol toutefois: impossible de mettre un autre smartphone que la phablette star du coréen. D'où une facture (mobile+casque) de 669 +199 euros. La douleur au portefeuille n’est, elle, pas virtuelle!

Léger comme une phablette! Qui l’eût cru? Quand les smartphones aux écrans XXL sont souvent synonymes de poids lourd, le Desire 820 de HTC s'en démarque. Ce 5,5 pouces affiche 155 grammes sur la balance, soit 22 de moins que l’iPhone 6 plus. Et ça se sent dès la prise en main. Dommage que le design ne suive pas. Avec sa coque en plastique lisse et des finitions un peu "cheap" sur les bords, le dernier né de la gamme Desire peine un tantinet face à la concurrence. D’autant que les spécifications techniques sont au rendez-vous: processeur octo-cÅ“ur, 2 Go de mémoire vive, appareil photo de 13 millions de pixels et 8 millions de pixels en frontal pour de bons "selfies". Le tout pour 359 euros. Honnête.

Quoi de plus banal qu’une souris d’ordinateur. Et pourtant la vie peut devenir un cauchemar pour l’utilisateur mal équipé. Une souris trop lourde ou qui glisse mal transforme une navigation en calvaire. C’est pourquoi Logitech a pensé sa MX Master comme une souris de compétition, aussi utile (sa technologie) qu'agréable (son design). Cet appareil bluetooth est dédié à la productivité. Il permet de naviguer sur plusieurs ordinateurs et différents systèmes d’exploitation sans perdre de temps, en appuyant sur un bouton. Avec sa roulette complémentaire au niveau du pouce, la navigation horizontale devient un jeu d’enfant. Du haut de gamme qui a forcément un coût: 99,99 euros.

Le photographe Paul Adshead est souvent confronté a un problème, il aime vérifier ses photos sur son ordinateur portable pendant un shooting en extérieur. Mais la luminosité d’un portable sur batterie étant faible il ne voyait jamais bien son travail à cause du soleil.Au détour d’un voyage dans une grande enseigne suédoise il croise une boite de rangement en tissu, le nom est comme d’habitude en rapport avec le produit : "Dröna”. Mais ce qui attire notre photographe ce sont les dimensions de la boite, 33x38x33cm ! Et son ordinateur est un peu plus petit que ça, il décide donc de prendre une boite pour tester une idée ingénieuse.Et la lumière ne fût plus un problème ! Le portable rentre parfaitement dans la boite qui protège l’écran des rayons du soleil, ainsi la visualisation des photos est beaucoup plus simple et Paul peut travailler dans des conditions optimales.

ES, c’est Edward Snowden, l’homme le plus recherché du monde, ancien cadre de la NSA accusé de vol, d’espionnage et d’utilisation illégale de biens gouvernementaux. Voilà neuf mois que je tente d’obtenir une interview avec lui: de San Francisco, (où se trouve la rédaction du magazine Wired), j’ai pris l’avion pour Berlin, Rio de Janeiro (deux fois) et New York (à de multiples reprises) pour parler avec ses quelques proches susceptibles de m’aider à le rencontrer. Une question m’obsède particulièrement: comment le jeune informaticien a-t-il décidé de "leaker" (faire fuiter en français, ndlr) ces centaines de milliers de documents classés top secret, révélant indirectement l’immense portée de la surveillance du gouvernement américain sur ses citoyens ainsi que sur les populations de pays étrangers, y compris sur certains de leurs dirigeants, dont François Hollande et Angela Merkel ? En mai, j’ai enfin reçu un mail de son avocat, Ben Wizner, me confirmant que Snowden me répondrait à Moscou et qu’au-delà de l’entretien, je pourrais même passer un peu de temps (trois jours entiers, pour être précis) avec lui et ainsi évoquer son quotidien de réfugié politique. Depuis son arrivée sur le sol russe le 23 juin 2013, le fugitif n’est jamais resté aussi longtemps en compagnie d’un journaliste. Par ailleurs, les détails du rendez-vous demeuraient jusqu’ici assez mystérieux et j’ai atterri dans la capitale russe sans savoir où et quand je finirais par le voir. Les choses sont désormais plus claires.
Quand, l’an dernier, Edward Snowden a fui les États-Unis pour Moscou après avoir supposément dérobé une quantité astronomique de secrets d’État, on racontait à Washington qu’il ne pouvait qu’être un agent des Russes. Mais pour avoir depuis côtoyé l’individu en question, cette rumeur me semble improbable. C’est un vrai patriote – un patriote déçu, peut-être, mais un patriote tout de même.

Une fois arrivé dans l’hôtel, je prends place dans un fauteuil du lobby et j’ouvre un livre, comme cela me l’avait été demandé. À 13 heures précises, Snowden apparaît, vêtu d’un jean noir et d’un manteau sport marron, un gros sac à dos noir sur l’épaule. Il scrute l’espace un moment mais ne m’aperçoit que lorsque je me lève: "Où étiez-vous ?", me demande-t-il. Je lui montre simplement ma place et lui réponds: "Et donc vous bossiez pour les services secrets, c’est bien ça ?" Il rit.«Mon pays ne peut laisser ses lois devenir une arme contre ses citoyens. Peu importe la compensation: je refuse de faire partie de ça.»

Parvenus dans la chambre qu’il a réservée pour l’interview, il pose son sac sur le lit et retire sa casquette. Il est mince, voire squelettique, et sur son visage en lame de couteau pousse une jeune barbiche. Il porte les lunettes rectangulaires qu’on lui connaît. Sa chemise bleu clair paraît bien trop grande pour lui, sa large ceinture très serrée. Aux pieds, une paire de mocassins noirs. Il a la dégaine d’un étudiant en master d’informatique. Snowden n’est pas sans ignorer les consignes dites de "sécurité opérationnelle" que l’on applique dans le monde du renseignement et qu’il applique aujourd’hui pour se protéger. Il change constamment d’ordinateur et de compte mail. En ce moment-même, dans la chambre, il retire la batterie de son iPhone car il sait, grâce à son passé dans le métier, que c’est la seule manière d’empêcher la NSA de transformer à distance l’appareil – même éteint – en micro. C’est en partie parce qu’il connaît quantité de tuyaux de ce genre que Snowden a réussi pour le moment à rester libre. C’est aussi parce qu’il évite les lieux moscovites fréquentés par les Américains et par les Occidentaux en général. Mais il peut tout de même arriver que certains locaux l’identifient: alors il les fixe en souriant et pose un doigt sur sa bouche. Le garçon a beau être l’objet d’une traque internationale, il n’en paraît pas moins détendu et enjoué, alors que nous partageons une pizza que nous a montée le room service. Il espère un jour pouvoir revenir aux États- Unis: "J’ai dit au gouvernement américain que je me portais volontaire pour aller en prison, à l’unique condition que ce soit pour servir une peine qui corresponde à la réalité de mes actes. Mon sort me préoccupe moins que celui des États-Unis. Mais mon pays ne peut laisser ses lois devenir une arme politique contre ses citoyens, ni faire en sorte de persuader les gens de ne pas user de leurs droits. Peu importe la compensation: je refuse de faire partie de ça."

Toutefois, avant de jeter la pierre au constructeur devant ces rares nouveautés, il ne faut pas oublier que depuis Sense 6.0, HTC découple ses principales applications développées en propre de l'OS en lui-même. Concrètement, les HTC Zoe, Gallery, Sense TB, Fletch, Dot View, Sense Input, Scribe... vivent depuis leur propre vie sur Google Play et sont mises à jour indépendamment du système d'exploitation. Cela permet de les enrichir indépendamment les unes des autres, et à un rythme beaucoup plus soutenu.
Enfin, celles et ceux qui reprochent à l'interface graphique de ne pas avoir évolué semblent avoir mal fait leurs devoirs. Le constructeur propose en effet désormais la possibilité de personnaliser à outrance l'aspect graphique en question. En passant par une application banalement baptisée "Themes", il est possible de modifier en profondeur toutes les composantes de cette interface. On peut par exemple partir de n'importe quelle photo et décliner tous les éléments graphiques pour qu'ils soient assortis à cette photo, y compris les icônes ! En fait, à notre connaissance, aucun constructeur n'offre d'options de personnalisation aussi poussées.

Sous le capot, HTC a sorti l'artillerie lourde pour animer son One M9, puisque ses entrailles abritent un Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, 3 Go de mémoire vive et une puce graphique Adreno 430. Autant vous dire que cette configuration devrait se chamailler avec celle des Galaxy S6 et S6 Edge pour le titre de "chipset le plus puissant du premier semestre". Nous n'avons pas rencontré de problème particulier de microlags lors de notre manipulation, mais nous n'avons pas été en mesure de le pousser dans ses retranchements en installant des jeux en 3D bien gourmands en ressources. Comme pour la partie photo, il faudra donc attendre le test complet pour être fixé sur ce point.

Un smartphone dont on ne parle pas en disant systématiquement : "il est bien, mais..."Avant de conclure, précisons que l'écran du One M9 semble identique à celui que l'on trouve dans le One M8, avec une diagonale de 5", pour une définition Full HD de 1 920 x 1 080 px. Elle procure une densité tout à fait convenable de 441 pixels par pouce. Les technophiles pourront s'offusquer de voir HTC proposer cette définition sur trois modèles coup sur coup, puisqu'elle a été inaugurée avec le One M7. En pratique, elle s'avère plus que suffisante pour profiter de tous les types de contenus. Et nous n'aurions trouvé à y redire... si le One M9 n'allait pas sortir en avril au prix public conseillé de 749 €. Soit plus encore que les 709 € que demandera Samsung pour son S6 en France. À ce tarif, les utilisateurs seraient en droit d'attendre le nec plus ultra dans tous les domaines. Toutefois, le dernier-né de HTC nous a tout de même fait une très bonne première impression. Il dégage évidemment une forte sensation de déjà vu, mais si la fonction photo est enfin à la hauteur du design et que le reste ne réserve pas de mauvaise surprise, les amateurs de la marque taïwanaise tiendront enfin un smartphone dont on ne parle pas en disant systématiquement : "il est bien, mais...".
Intégrer l'essentiel d'un ordinateur dans l'espace réduit d'une souris, telle est l'ambition de l'équipe de Mouse-Box, une start-up polonaise qui présente son concept homonyme. Le prototype intègre un processeur ARM 4 cÅ“urs cadencé à 1,4 GHz, 128 Go d'espace de stockage, deux ports USB 3.0, une connectique Wi-Fi, un accéléromètre et un gyroscope. L'intégration de RAM est également prévue, et la batterie devrait être proposée en option : en pratique, la Mouse Box devrait être utilisée avec un tapis de souris permettant sa charge par induction.

L'objectif d'un tel gadget : être facilement transportable, utilisable simplement mais aussi discrètement, comme le montre la vidéo présentée sur le site du projet.Dans l'immédiat, Mouse-Box est juste un projet, mais ses concepteurs assurent qu'il est viable. Ils sont à la recherche de financement pour transformer leur prototype en un produit commercialisable. Il y a fort à parier qu'un tel produit se retrouvera prochainement sur une plateforme de financement de type Kickstarter ou IndieGogo dans les mois à venir.

L'Asus ROG G750 est un ordinateur 17,3 pouces destiné aux gamers. Il a rencontré un certain succès dans sa version 2013 qui avait récolté 5 étoiles lors de notre test. Physiquement très similaire, la version 2014 se différencie par l'intégration de nouvelle carte graphique Nvidia GeForce GTX série 800, le reste des composants demeurant identique. Autre différence, cette fois-ci logicielle, le modèle 2014 est doté du programme GPU Tweak qui permet d'overclocker facilement la carte graphique. Est-ce suffisant pour détrôner son prédécesseur ? Réponse à la fin du test...

Extérieurement, rien ne différencie ce modèle de celui de l'année dernière. On retrouve donc un châssis entièrement noir mis en valeur par les logos colorés sur la face arrière de l'écran. Ce capot est recouvert d'une matière gommée noire qui résiste bien aux traces de doigts. Le repose-poignet s'habille d'aluminium tandis que la base est en plastique dur et légèrement granuleux. La qualité de fabrication est identique à celle du modèle précédent, c'est-à-dire irréprochable.

Le clavier de type chiclet offre tout le confort attendu d'une machine haut de gamme. Les touches sont de bonne taille et correctement situées. Elles offrent un excellent confort de frappe, avec une résistance correcte et une course longue mais précise. Le touchpad est grand, agréable à utiliser et reconnaît les gestes de Windows 8.1. Si on ne peut le conseiller aux joueurs, il est parfaitement adapté à la bureautique et à la navigation.

Le clavier dispose également d'un rétroéclairage blanc réglable sur 4 niveaux d’intensité.
Côté connectique, on a tout ce que l'on peut attendre d'un modèle de ce genre : 4 ports USB 3.0, 1 port Thunderbolt, 1 sortie HDMI, 1 sortie VGA, 1 port RJ45, 1 entrée micro, 1 sortie casque, 1 port mini-DisplayPort et 1 lecteur de cartes SD. Un lecteur Blu-ray trouve sa place sur la tranche gauche.La connectivité sans fil n'a pas été oubliée, avec le Bluetooth et le Wi-Fi. Ce dernier offre un signal assez stable, à -49 dBm entre 5 et 10 mètres et qui tombe à -52 dBm à 20 mètres.

L'extraction de l'air chaud se fait à l'arrière, ce qui permet de garder un clavier proche de la température ambiante. Autre avantage, on peut poser l'ordinateur sur n'importe quelle surface sans gêner la ventilation.La gestion des températures est plutôt bonne étant donné la configuration embarquée. On atteint un maximum de 53,3°C au niveau de la sortie arrière droite de l'ordinateur. Le plus appréciable est le silence de fonctionnement, puisque l'Asus ROG G750JZ n'a jamais dépassé 38,9 dB sous notre instrument de mesure.

L'Asus G750JZ est équipé d'une dalle IPS mate Full HD (1920 x 1080 px) qui limite les reflets sur l'écran. Nous avons relevé une luminosité maximale de 334 cd/m², ce qui est suffisant pour contrer la plupart des reflets, même en extérieur. Le taux de contraste maximal s'établit à 515:1, un score particulièrement décevant, surtout lorsque l'on se souvient que le modèle 2013 atteignait 1060:1.

La colorimétrie reste en revanche proche de ce que l'on avait rencontré en 2014. À commencer par le DeltaE — écart entre les couleurs idéales et les couleurs mesurées — qui est contenu à 3,6 ; un bon résultat pour un écran d'ordinateur portable. La température des couleurs s'établit à 8195 K, pour une norme fixée à 6500 K ; les couleurs tirent donc un peu sur le bleu.

L'Asus G750JZ est équipé d'une entrée jack micro et d'une sortie jack casque. Cette dernière est de très bonne qualité. La puissance maximale est très élevée et sans distorsion. La spatialisation est dans le même registre. Le G750JZ reste une référence dans ce domaine.

Les haut-parleurs sont légèrement en retrait, avec une belle puissance de sortie. Les basses sont cependant inexistantes malgré la présence d'un boomer, tandis que les aigus sont convaincants mais malheureusement accompagnés d'un peu de distorsion à haut volume.
Comme pour l'affichage, la partie audio est en retrait de celle de la génération précédente.

La configuration reçue en test comprend un processeur Intel Core i7-4700HQ, 32 Go de mémoire, une carte graphique Nvidia Geforce GTX 880M, un HDD de 1 To accompagné d'un SSD de 256 Go. Contrairement au reste du test, qui est valable pour tous les G750 2014, seule la déclinaison ici testée est concernée par nos commentaires sur les performances. L'Asus G750JZ se montre tout de même particulièrement véloce. Les tâches les plus gourmandes sont avalées en un minimum de temps tandis que le de SSD permet un allumage et une extinction des plus prompts.

C'est dans ce domaine des jeux qu'intervient le plus gros changement par rapport au modèle 2013, puisqu'Asus dote ce ROG d'une carte graphique de dernière génération, une Nvidia GeForce GTX 880M accompagnée de 4 Go de mémoire graphique. Elle utilise un GPU GK104 à 1536 unités de calcul fonctionnant à 954 MHz de base. Il s'agit donc d'un renommage de la GeForce GTX 780M (823 MHz) de 2013 qui était elle-même un simple renommage de la GeForce GTX 680MX (720 MHz) de 2012. Pour faire le parallèle avec les cartes graphiques d'ordinateurs de bureau, on se trouve face à l'équivalent des GeForce GTX 680 et GeForce GTX 770, mais avec des fréquences GPU et mémoire réduites.
La carte se montre très à l'aise dans les jeux, même avec tous les réglages au maximum, puisqu'elle dépasse les 60 images par seconde dans des titres comme Tomb Raider (65 i/s) et Bioshock Infinite (61 i/s). Même les titres les plus gourmands comme Metro : Last Light et Crysis 3 s'en tirent honorablement, avec 40 i/s pour le premier et 30 i/s pour le second.

Asus permet également d'overclocker sa carte via l'utilitaire GPU Tweak. Très simple d'utilisation, il permet d'augmenter la fréquence du processeur et de la mémoire graphique. Avec notre modèle de test, nous sommes parvenus à faire tourner la carte de manière stable à une fréquence GPU de 1123 MHz et une fréquence mémoire de 1500 MHz contre 1250 MHz d'origine. Les gains de performance en jeu s'améliorent alors de 10 %. Attention cependant, les résultats d'overclocking peuvent varier d'une machine à l'autre.

A spanner in the works here is that there are plenty of laptops around offering a decent Windows 10 experience for less money so the Pro 4 isn't necessarily the right purchase for everyone. Here's a table explaining the different Surface Pro 4 models you can choose from – ours is the Core i5 model priced at £1,079.
Update 30 June 2016: Microsoft has now made available in the UK its 1TB Surface Pro 4, which comes with an Intel Core i7 chip and 16GB of RAM. This model is available from the Microsoft Store for £2,199.

If you're deciding between the Surface Pro 4 and a MacBook Air, the latest models from Apple also start at £749 and, of course, come with everything you need. That price is a smaller 11in size, though.

MICROSOFT SURFACE PRO 4 REVIEW: DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY
Initially, you could easily mistake the Pro 4 for the Pro 3, but on closer inspection there are some significant changes that make a big difference to the overall experience.
It's thinner and has a bigger screen without a bigger overall size thanks to thinner bezels. Microsoft said that it's essentially as thin as it can get without being forced to get rid of the USB port – and we would have been pretty disappointed if the firm had chosen thickness over the USB.

Surface Pro 4 vs Pro 3
Just 8.4mm is seriously impressive for a device with the kind of high-end specs on offer here. All of this also means the device is lighter at 766g for the Core M model. This is because it doesn't require a fan so you can add 20g if you opt for a Core i model which isn't exactly a big jump. This thing is seriously light and portable.
You wouldn't want to use it for long periods of time with one hand but it does make a difference overall with handling and carrying. Let's face it, the Surface is really made for being used on a flat, er, surface predominantly.
Otherwise, things are pretty similar with essentially the same design including the kickstand, camera placement and port placement. The thinner bezel around the screen means the touch sensitive windows button is gone and another small change is that the volume rocker is now on the top next to the power key.

Surface Pro 4 design and build
This is so that the Surface Pen, still included with the tablet, can be attached magnetically to the left side. This is a lot better than the Surface Pro 3 which allowed you to attach the Pen on the right side but the hold was very weak and it covered the power port. As mentioned the screen on the Surface Pro 4 is larger but without increasing the size of the device itself. It's jumped a little from 12- to 12.3in which isn't a big jump but it does make a difference. Also important is the resolution which is now 2736x1824 resulting in a crisp and clear pixel density of 267ppi.

As you might expect, the Surface Pro 4 comes with Windows 10 Pro and it looks great on the PixelSense display. Overall, it's one of the best we've seen on any laptop or tablet offering excellent all-round performance. There are top notch viewing angles, plenty of brightness, great contrast and accurate colours – the list goes on.

Microsoft has listened to demands and provided up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage so those power users out there will be pleased. Of course, those with lower requirements can simply choose a lower-spec model. Things start at 4GB of RAM with a 128GB SSD and improve the more you're willing to spend.
Note: The 1TB model is not available in the UK at the moment so the highest spec model you can buy comes with 512GB. This is a real shame as it's a big feature of the Pro 4 but things may change in the future. We received the following statement on the subject.

"We do not comment on pending market availability. That said, we have taken and will continue to take a measured and phased approach to Surface Pro 4 availability to meet customer demand and partner expectations."
Inside the new slender frame of the Surface Pro 4 is, at the least, a 6th-generation Skylake Intel Core M3 processor but you can also get a Core i5 or Core i7 if you wish. That's a lot of power on offer inside a 12in tablet but as mentioned earlier, you've got to pay a decent chunk of money if you don't want the entry-level model.

Ports are sort of boring but still darned useful and despite being thinner, the Surface Pro 4 still has USB 3.0, a Mini-DisplayPort and a Micro-SD card reader. The front camera remains at 5Mp but the rear camera has been upgrade to 8Mp should you find cameras on a tablet useful – arguably the front camera would be more suited to the enhancement for video calls.
Those are the core specs but it's also worth noting that the Surface Pro 4 comes with 11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 once again.
MICROSOFT SURFACE PRO 4 REVIEW: PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY LIFE
Microsoft says the device is 50 percent faster than a MacBook Air and 30 percent faster than the Surface Pro 3.
As mentioned earlier we've been given a Core i5 review sample with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Handy since we have a Core i5 Surface Pro 3 at PC Advisor towers, too. We can't say we've seen a 30 percent improvement but it is certainly better than its predecessor. On the MacBook front, as you can see from the table, it's not 50 percent faster compared with a Core i5 model from 2013 – at least in a Geekbench 3 benchmark which primarily tests the CPU.
Benchmark figures, see below, are one thing but real-world usage can often be very different. On this front we can vouch, for this particular model at least, that the Pro 4 is a speedy machine indeed.

Microsoft touts a battery life of up to nine hours of video playback – that's the same figure given for the Pro 3 so there no change in this area. In our tests we recorded a battery life of 11 hours and two minutes - looping a local video with the screen set to 120cd/m. MICROSOFT SURFACE PRO 4 REVIEW: PEN AND NEW TYPE COVER
As usual the Surface Pro 3 come with a Surface Pen – the digital stylus now comes in five colours and attaches magnetically which is a real boon. That's not all though, as the new Pen has 1,024 levels of pressure and an eraser on the end which is much more like an actual rubber. Pressing and holding it activates Cortana which is handy while pressing it will open OneNote – it's a shame you can't reassign the functions.

We've found the new model to be a lot better than its predecessor and the good news is that you can use it on the Surface Pro 3 if you like – it just won't attach with the magnets. You can also buy different nibs but this pack is an extra and we don't have a price for it at the moment.
The Type Cover is an essential piece of the Surface Pro puzzle and there's a new model with various upgrades for the Pro 4. It still costs extra so you'll need to add 109 to the overall cost if you want the full laptop-like experience.
It's been improved with more space between the keys (a 19mm pitch) and a 1.3mm travel for a better typing experience that we noticed immediately, and the trackpad is now glass backed and 40 percent bigger, too. It's smooth, responsive and a joy to use – better than a lot you get on a full-size laptop.

We can hardly express how much better the new keyboard is and you really notice the improvement when you go back to the old model and struggle to even type your name.
Surface Pro 4 Type Cover
The new keyboard helps bring the Pro 4 one step closer to becoming a tablet that can replace your laptop, because it really feels comfortable to use whereas the Pro 3's keyboard took a bit of getting used to.
You may have spotted that some models also have a fingerprint sensor next to the trackpad for added security - these are designed for the Pro 3 since the Pro 4 supports facial recognition (Windows Hello). However, like the 1TB model, this is currently for the US only.

The good news for Pro 3 owners as the new Type Cover is fully compatible so you can upgrade without buying the new tablet itself.
MICROSOFT SURFACE PRO 4 REVIEW: CAN IT REPLACE YOUR LAPTOP?
Microsoft's big claim about the Surface Pro 4 is that it's 'the tablet that can replace your laptop' so we wanted to address this question as well as giving you our final verdict.
The short answer is yes but that's not the full story here. The Pro 4 is an amazing device which over the years has been tweaked, honed and tuned into something thin, light and powerful. As good as the Pro 4 is, it isn't the best choice for everyone.
Despite its portability, the design is still more awkward than a normal laptop when you use it in various ways – for example actually on your lap. It's also very expensive even for the cheapest model plus the essential addition of the Type Cover so that's another barrier. When it comes down to it, a traditional clamshell laptop might still be a better choice.

As Microsoft continues driving to make its own hardware with Lumia smarphones and other devices such as the Band 2, the Surface Pro 4 is here with the aim of being 'the tablet that can replace your laptop'. But has Microsoft achieved this by 'reinventing the Surface Pro'? Find out in our Surface Pro 4 review.
MICROSOFT SURFACE PRO 4 REVIEW: UK PRICE AND COMPETITION
Starting at £749, the new Surface Pro 4 is more expensive than the previous generation but Microsoft has pretty much gone to town when it comes to improvements and upgrades. Remember that the price isn't comparable to tablets like the iPad Air 2 which costs £399. See also: Surface Pro 4 release date, price and specs.

Although that's the starting price, you can spend up to a whopping £2,199 on a top-of-the-range model. That's a lot of money especially considering Microsoft makes you pay extra for the keyboard Type Cover. The Surface Pro 4 isn't a winner when it comes to value.The iPad Pro starts at a more affordable £679 but that price only gets you a measly 32GB of storage and doesn't include the keyboard or the Apple Pencil so the Surface Pro 4 doesn't look quite so bad with a minimum of 128GB and the Surface Pen included.

There is a great deal to like and rave about the Surface Pro 4. The design is thinner and lighter for starters. The screen is awesome, there's plenty of power available, the new Surface Pen is better and the Type Cover is a vast improvement on the last one. However, the design is inherently awkward at times, it's more expensive that a lot of laptops and the Type Cover, which you'll pretty much need, isn't included lowering the value.

The Acer Switch Alpha 12 is a Windows tablet with a high-resolution display, support for up to an Intel Core i7 Skylake processor, and a fanless design. But Acer doesn’t position the Switch Alpha 12 as a tablet. It’s listed in the laptop category on Acer’s website, and for good reason.Not only does the tablet come with a keyboard cover, but it offers the kind of performance you’d expect from a good notebook computer. It’s one of the first tablets I’ve tested that really does feel like it could serve as a laptop replacement… for some people.

There’s an adjustable kickstand that makes it easy to adjust the tablet’s position when typing, the keyboard is comfortable to use, and the computer has enough horsepower for everything from web browsing to gaming (as long as you’re happy with older, or less demanding games). But there are a few factors to consider before spending your money on Switch Alpha 12: it’s a bit heavy for a tablet. It has mediocre battery life. And the keyboard isn’t all that easy to use on your lap. But the computer has an excellent display, speedy performance, and features an effective passive cooling system that keeps the Switch Alpha 12 from getting too hot.Best of all, it’s an affordable alternative to other Windows 2-in-1 tablets: prices start at $600 for a model with a Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

Acer loaned me a Switch Alpha 12 for this review. The model I tested will be available exclusively from Costco for $800 and features a Core i5-6200U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It comes with both a keyboard cover and a digital pen.All versions of the Switch Alpha 12 come with the keyboard, but the pen is usually sold separately for $50. Acer also offers models with up to a Core i7 processor and up to 512GB of solid state storage.The Acer Switch Alpha 12 seems to be cut from the same cloth as Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4, which is also a 2-in-1 tablet designed to support a keyboard cover and digital pen. But Microsoft’s tablet is much more expensive: prices start at $899 for a model with an Intel Core M processor. That price includes a pen, but you’ll need to pay $130 extra if you want a keyboard.

Like Acer’s tablet, the entry-level Surface Pro 4 is also fanless… but that model has a 4.5 watt Intel Core M processor. If you opt for a more expensive Surface tablet with a more powerful processor, you’ll get a model that does have a fan, whereas even a top-tier Switch Alpha 12 with a Core i7-6500U processor is fanless.Acer’s tablet uses a liquid cooling system that the company calls "LiquidLoop” to help prevent the tablet from overheating without the need for a fan, and it seems to work pretty well.

During my testing, the back of the laptop would sometimes get a warm, but it never got so hot that the tablet was uncomfortable to hold.The fanless design means there are no vents in the case, which helps protect the internal components from dust. It also means that there are no moving parts under the hood to make noise while the Switch Alpha 12 is in operation.angle_01
The tablet measures 11.6″ x 7.9″ x 0.4 and weighs just over 2 pounds. It’s a bit awkward to hold in one hand, but reasonably comfortable to prop on your lap while surfing the web from your couch.It has a 2160 x 1440 pixel glossy IPS display which looks pretty good from any angle, and there are front-facing stereo speakers above the screen and a 2MP camera (with support for 1080p video recording) in the center of the top bezel.

All the ports are on the right side: a full-sized USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3.1 Type-C port, a microSDXC card reader, and a headset jack, and a power jack (the USB-C port is for data, not charging).The tablet’s case is made of anodized aluminum, and the rear has a brushed aluminum design with the Acer logo in the center, and a 5MP camera in the upper left corner.Add the keyboard cover and the tablet becomes a 2.8 pound laptop that measures 0.6 inches thick. The keyboard connects to the tablet via a series of pogo pins and it’s held firmly in place by strong magnets. Attaching the keyboard is incredibly easy: just bring the tablet near the keyboard and it’ll snap into place without you having to worry about lining up the pins.

The magnets also have a habit of picking up paperclips or other small items left nearby, so you’ll want to keep your work area relatively clean if you don’t want thumbtacks ending up squeezed between the keyboard and tablet.There’s no battery in the keyboard, because it draws power from the tablet’s 4,870 mAh battery.The keyboard has a full-sized QWERTY keyboard with 1.4mm travel and Precision touchpad which works quite well with Windows 10 touch gestures. There are two keyboard options: backlit and normal. The unit I tested has backlit keys, although you can toggle the lights on or off.

Dal momento in cui lo comprate, il vostro Mac inizia a invecchiare, e la componente che maggiormente risente del passare del tempo è la batteria. È un processo fisiologico, di cui occorre essere consapevoli: prima o poi, andrà sostituita ma parliamo comunque di molti anni.

Per esempio, il MacBook Pro su cui è stato scritto questo post risale alla metà del 2010, e solo ora inizia a mostrare segni di cedimento: la batteria, dai 5.770 mAh originali di capienza ora può arrivare al massimo a 3.229 mAh, il che si traduce in 3 ore scarse di autonomia; un abisso rispetto alle 10 ore di 6 anni fa, ed ecco perché verrà presto cambiata.

Per verificare lo stato di salute della batteria del Mac, potreste aprire il Menu Mela per selezionare Informazioni su questo Mac > Resoconto di sistema... > Hardware > Energia; lì c'è tutto quel che vi serve sapere se siete smanettoni. In alternativa, vi consigliamo di scaricare un'app che mostra queste stesse informazioni in modo molto più intuitivo; si chiama Coconut Battery ed è una piccola utility gratuita che trovate su questa pagina Web.

Per ciclo di carica si intende il passaggio della batteria dal 100% della carica allo 0%, anche quando il fenomeno avviene lungo un periodo di diversi giorni. Ecco perché caricate e scaricate il Mac migliaia di volte ma i cicli di carica ammontano sempre a un numero inferiore.
Una volta aperta, l'app vi mostra l'attuale stato di carica del Mac, la carica massima che potete raggiungere e quella originale, oltreché i cicli di carica/scarica e altre informazioni utili. In più, permette anche di registrare lo stato della batteria per studiarne l'evoluzione nel corso del tempo.

Nella Gallery qui in alto trovate una registrazione fatta nel 2014. Allora la batteria era all'81% di capacità per un totale di 4.713 mAh e appena 981 cicli di carica; e infatti, al tempo, 6-7 ore di autonomia rappresentavano ancora la normalità. E non pensiate che tenerlo sempre collegato alla corrente per ridurre i cicli di carica sia una buona idea: se gli elettroni non si muovono mai, la batteria ha un'aspettativa di vita perfino inferiore. È come i muscoli: vanno tenuti costantemente in esercizio, ed è buona norma effettuare almeno un ciclo di carica e scarica completo una volta al mese (cioè, far arrivare completamente a zero la batteria e poi collegarla alla rete elettrica).

Cambiare o non cambiare la batteria?La risposta a questa domanda dipende da voi. Se l'autonomia del Mac è troppo risicata per le vostre esigenze, cambiatela; se va ancora bene e non dà problemi (tipo spegnimenti improvvisi o altre stranezze), tenetela pure. Ignorate inoltre i messaggi di OS X, quando fate clic sull'icona della carica nella Barra dei Menu (tipo "Stato: da sostituire presto"). Prima che sia sul serio necessario ricorrere all'assistenza, potrebbero passare ancora molti mesi, ma di certo è arrivato il momento di cominciare a pensarci quanto meno.

Sostituzione in Garanzia In alcuni casi, Apple provvede a sostituire la batteria del portatile a titolo gratuito. Perché ciò avvenga, tuttavia, devono verificarsi alcune condizioni.Di solito, la batteria di un Mac è fatta per mantenere almeno l'80% della capienza originale dopo 1000 cicli di carica. Se possedete un vecchio Mac con batteria monolitica, allora potreste risparmiare sicuramente bei soldoni procedendo col fai-da-te. Tornando al nostro caso specifico, la batteria di MacBook Pro metà 2010 è piuttosto facile da rimuovere: si scoperchia il fondo, si eliminano due viti, e si cambia il modulo batteria ad un prezzo che oscilla tra i 60€ e gli 80€ sui siti online.Nel caso in cui possediate un MacBook, MacBook Pro Retina e MacBook Air più recenti con batteria divisa in tante sotto-batterie separate, allora forse sarà meglio lasciar perdere e far fare ai professionisti. Il rischio di far danni è molto superiore.

Come funziona questa nuova tecnologia?

Da dieses Update relativ klein ausfällt, wird man weiterhin gespannt auf Apples große Developer-Konferenz WWDC in San Francisco vom 13. bis zum 17. Juni blicken. In letzter Zeit verdichten sich Gerüchte, wonach Apple dünnere 13- und 15-Zoll-Laptops vorstellen könnte.

Um die im Kalk gespeicherte Energie zu nutzen, wird in einer Reaktionskammer Wasserdampf in Kalk geleitet. Dadurch wird die gespeicherte Wärme frei und kann zum Heizen und Warmwasserbereiten genutzt werden. Im Sommer wird der ausgepowerte Kalk bei einer Temperatur von 450 °C gebrannt. Das geschieht in einem elektrisch beheizten Ofen, der zum Beispiel mit Solarstrom vom Dach betrieben wird.

Apple hat mit dem MacBook 2016 seinem ultraportablen Laptop mit zwölf Zoll ein Update spendiert. Die Maschine ist jetzt nicht nur in neuen Farben erhältlich, sondern auch merklich schneller als der Vorgänger. Was sich neben einer längeren Akkulaufzeit sonst noch geändert hat, erfahrt ihr in unserem Test.
Wie schon das Vorgänger-Modell aus dem vergangenen Jahr ist auch das neue MacBook 2016 der leichteste Rechner im Apple-Portfolio, denn der Konzern hat – bis auf neue Farben – nichts am Design geändert. Das gilt übrigens auch für den verbauten Anschluss. Richtig gelesen: für den Anschluss. Wie schon beim 2015er-Modell findet sich auch beim MacBook 2016 nur ein einziger USB-C-Anschluss. Zu den Verbesserungen zählen unter anderem der verbesserte Core-M-Prozessor von Intel (Skylake), eine deutlich schnellere SSD, verbesserte Grafikleistungen und eine längere Akkulaufzeit.

Das MacBook mit Zwölf-Zoll-Display wird in drei unterschiedlichen Varianten angeboten, bei denen der geneigte Käufer in erster Linie den gewünschten Prozessor und die Größe der SSD auswählen muss. Zur Auswahl stehen ein Intel M3 mit 1,1 Gigahertz und 256 Gigabyte – das Modell, das uns für unseren Test zur Verfügung stand – ein Intel M5 mit 1,2 Gigahertz und 512 Gigabyte sowie ein Intel M7 mit 1,3 Gigahertz und ebenfalls 512 Gigabyte.

Die M3-Version kostet 1.449, das M5-Modell mit der doppelt so großen SSD 1.799 und das nochmals schnellere MacBook mit M7-Prozessor schlägt mit 1.979 Euro zu Buche. Alle Modelle sind in den Farbvarianten Silber, Space Grau, Gold und neuerdings auch Roségold erhältlich.Auch wenn sich alle drei verfügbaren Modelle in Bezug auf Prozessor und Festplatte unterscheiden, verfügen sie ansonsten über die selben Innereien. So beherbergen alle Varianten acht Gigabyte RAM und eine Intel-HD-515-Prozessorgrafikkarte, die das Retina-Display mit einer Auflösung von 2.304 x 1.440 Pixeln bespielt.

Darüber hinaus bietet das MacBook Bluetooth 4.0 und WLAN nach IEEE 802.11 ac.Nach einigen Benchmarks und Tests im Alltag ist das neue MacBook 2016 in der Version mit 1,1 Gigahertz nur etwa 15 Prozent schneller als der Vorgänger aus dem Vorjahr und fühlt sich entsprechend auch nur wenig flotter an. Für 350 Euro mehr bekommt man etwa 20 bis 25 Prozent mehr Geschwindigkeit – darauf weisen Kollegen anderer Medien hin, die das MacBook mit M5-Prozessor getestet haben.

Deutlicher fällt das Mehr an Performance bei der Grafikleistung und der Geschwindigkeit der verbauten SSD ins Gewicht, sodass sich unter dem Strich sagen lässt, dass das MacBook 2016 insgesamt merklich performanter ist als das 2015er-Modell. Das alles hilft aber wenig, wenn man die Leistung nicht in Relation zu anderen Apple-Rechnern setzt. Subjektiv bewegt sich das neue MacBook in Bezug auf GPU und CPU etwa auf Augenhöhe mit einem zwei Jahre alten MacBook Air.

Und: Das MacBook ist streng genommen sogar noch dünner als das MacBook Air. Der hintere Bereich ist nur 13,1 Millimeter hoch, während aktuelle MacBook Air hier auf 17,3 mm kommen. Mit einem Gewicht von 920 Gramm ist das MacBook 2016 darüber hinaus auch der leichteste Laptop von Apple. Einer der Gründe dafür, dass das MacBook so dünn ist, hängt mit der verbauten Tastatur zusammen. Die einzelnen Tasten sind ebenfalls recht flach und ragen kaum aus dem Gehäuse heraus. Daran muss man sich beim Schreiben zwar erst gewöhnen, aber dann geht das Tippen gut von der Hand. Apropos Eingabe-Geräte: Das Touchpad unterstützt Force Touch.

Schon beim MacBook 2015 hat sich in sozialen Medien und Kommentaren gezeigt, dass es sich bei dem ultraportablen Laptop um ein Gerät handelt, an dem sich die Geister scheiden. Während manche Nutzer auf das MacBook schwören, wollen andere kein sinnvolles Einsatz-Szenario erkennen. Das wird beim 2016er-Modell ähnlich sein. Wenn jedes Gramm Gewicht zählt und man trotzdem nicht auf ein schickes Retina-Display und OS X verzichten will, ist man mit dem MacBook 2016 allerdings gut bedient. Bei Büro-Tätigkeiten, beim Surfen, für den Filmgenuss und einfache Bildbearbeitung verrichtet das neue MacBook gute Arbeit. Klar: Wer Power für Tasks wie Video-Schnitt, professionelle Bildbearbeitung, Gaming oder andere rechenintensive Aufgaben braucht, sollte sich nach wie vor für ein MacBook Pro entscheiden.

Apple hat am Zwölf-Zoll-MacBook genug Verbesserungen vorgenommen, damit das Modell nicht mehr nur für Menschen zu empfehlen ist, die Portabilität über Produktivität stellen. Besonders wenn man sich für das Modell mit M5- oder M7-Prozessor entscheidet, ist das MacBook 2016 ein produktiv einsetzbarer und sehr mobiler Laptop. Bei normaler Nutzung hält der Akku rund zehn Stunden – und das dünne Leichtgewicht fällt im Gepäck kaum auf.

Ich habe bezüglich des Akkus auch viel in meiner Kundenbewertung bei Amazon geschrieben. Deswegen war ich mir dann auch nicht mehr sicher inwiefern ich dies nochmal zusätzlich per Mail berichten sollte. Allerdings habe ich nicht erwähnt, welche Apps am meisten Strom verbraucht haben. Die Einzige App die wirklich oft oben auf der Liste war, war facebook. Ganz oben „Mobilfunk bei Standby" und der „ZenUI Launcher". Nicht nur bei der Rezension sondern auch via Twiiter habe ich oft genug mitgeteilt wie sehr ich mit dem Akku zufrieden war bzw bin.
Natürlich variiert die Akkulaufzeit je nach Nutzung des ZenFone Max. Aber wie sich zeigt, sind 2 Tage Akkulaufzeit bei durchaus intensiver Nutzung kein Problem. Teilweise war sogar eine Woche drin.

Zur CES hat das koreanische Unternehmen LG das aktuell "leichteste Windows-10-Notebook im 15-Zoll-Format" vorgestellt - so zumindest stellen es die Koreaner stolz der Öffentlichkeit vor: Das LG Gram 15 wiegt bei einer Bildschirmdiagonale von satten 15,6 Zoll gerade einmal 980 Gramm und damit genau so viel - oder besser gesagt genau so wenig - wie das aktualisierte 14 Zoll-Ultra-Slim Laptop LG Gram 14z960 mit 14,0 Zoll und 980 Gramm. Das LG Gram 15 erweitert damit die Ultra-Slim-Serie von LG, in der schon länger mit dem Gram 13 und Gram 14 ein 13 und ein 14 Zoll-Laptop in Ultraleichtbauweise zur Auswahl stehen.
Dass die Geräte trotz des Größenunterschieds von 1,6 Zoll in der Diagonale das gleiche Endgewicht auf die Waage bringen, ist vor allem ein Geheimnis der Bauart. Es ist von Außen kaum von einem herkömmlichen 14-Zoll Laptop zu unterschieden, schreibt LG selbst. Das 15 Zoll große neue Modell kommt mit einem neuartigen Body mit einer ultraleichten und stabilen Magnesium-Legierung, während die kleineren Rechner noch mit einem Kunststoff-Carbon-Gemisch und einer Lithium-Magnesium-Beschichtung, wie man sie im Flugzeugbau verwendet, gebaut werden. Außerdem wurde beim Akku gespart.

LG gibt zwar bis zu zehn Stunden Laufzeit an, bei einer aktiven Arbeitsweise wird man mit dem 34,8 Wattstunden aber realistisch gesehen nicht weiter als bis zu Stunde Sechs kommen. Auch ein paar andere Kompromisse mussten zugunsten des Gewichts geschlossen werden. Kollege Roland Quandt hat sich das Notebook auf dem CES-Stand von LG einmal genauer ansehen können und erklärt in einer kurzen Übersicht die Vorteile des Leichtgewichts.

Zum Thema Deutschlandstart gibt es auch bei diesem neuen Modell noch keine positive Rückmeldung von LG. Soweit bekannt, ist nur der Verkauf in den USA und in einigen asiatischen Ländern geplant. Der Preis startet bei 1.499 US-Dollar für das Einstiegsmodell. Laut Amazon US lassen sich die Geräte schon vorbestellen, Wartezeit etwa drei bis vier Wochen.
Die BatteryBar bietet eine gute Alternative zum Standardsymbol für die Batterieanzeige in Windows. Nach der Installation nistet sich die Freeware in die Windows 7-Superbar ein und zeigt Ihnen von dort aus detailliert an, wie viel Prozent dem Akku noch verbleiben. Über die Entladerate können Sie auch in etwa abschätzen, welche Prozesse Ihren Akku besonders belasten.Auf Wunsch können Sie die App auch als kostenpflichtige Pro-Version nutzen, die Sie zusätzlich bei niedrigem Akkustand alarmiert. Die Free-Version dürfte für die meisten Anwender allerdings vollkommen ausreichend sein.

Serienmäßig bietet Apple derzeit drei 13,3 Zoll große MacBook-Pro-Modelle der "Early 2015"-Generation an. Allesamt kommen mit Core i5 mit 2,7 oder 2,9 GHz und 8 GByte Arbeitsspeicher. Der Unterschied liegt in der Größe der SSD - 128, 256 oder 512 GByte. Bei der Bestellung über die Apple-Website lässt sich jedes Modell konfigurieren. So sind auch ein Core i7 mit 3,1 GHz, 16 GByte Arbeitsspeicher und eine 1 TByte große SSD möglich. In der Maximal-Konfiguration werden hier etwa 3.000 Euro fällig.

Das Surface Book gehört genau so zur Luxus-Klasse wie das MacBook Pro. In keinem Fall gibt es günstige Einsteiger-Modelle. Selbst die Basis-Versionen liegen deutlich über 1.000 Euro. Da das Surface Book noch vor dem offiziellen Launch steht, gibt es derzeit nur wenige Konfigurationen; Apple lässt hier mehr persönliche Präferenz zu, wenn Sie über den Shop des Herstellers bestellt. Da es das MacBook Pro bereits gibt, führen auch viele Shops die Serienmodelle, was sich positiv auf den Preis auswirkt. Beim Surface Book müssen wir indes abwarten, wann erste Schnäppchen-Angebote kommen.

Microsoft und Apple greifen eine ähnliche Zielgruppe an - produktive Nutzer, die keine Kompromisse bei Qualität und Performance eingehen wollen. Deshalb gleichen sich das Surface Book und das MacBook Pro auch in vielen Belangen - von der verbauten Hardware über die Ausmaße bis hin zu möglichen Konfigurationen. Einzig beim Display und der Bauart gibt es deutliche Unterschiede.Microsoft präsentiert mit dem Surface Book den ersten Laptop der Firmengeschichte. Das Hybrid-Gerät macht Apples MacBook Pro echte Konkurrenz, im Test lief aber nicht alles glatt. Seit dem 18. Februar ist das Gerät im Handel!

Im Inneren soll zweimal mehr Rechenleistung als in Apples leistungsstarkem MacBook Pro schlummern. Dafür sorgen eine Grafikeinheit von Nvidia (nur in den teureren Ausführungen) und die passende sechste Core-i-Prozessor-Generation von Intel. Welche Messverfahren diesem Vergleich zugrunde liegen, hat Microsoft aber nicht verraten. Zudem ist zu bedenken, dass die Leistung je nach gewähltem Modell sehr unterschiedlich ist. Die getestete 1.899-US-Dollar-Variante brachte sogar aktuelle Spiele flüssig auf den Schirm – wenn auch mit reduzierter Auflösung (1366x768 Pixel). Die von Microsoft versprochene Akkulaufzeit (bis zu zwölf Stunden) ließ sich nicht reproduzieren: Nach sechs Stunden und 19 Minuten musste das Surface Book wieder an die Steckdose – getestet wurde der Verbrauch inklusive Tastaturdock. Neben den technischen Stärken ist das 2-in-1-Konzept ein wichtiger Unterschied zu Apples MacBook-Serie: Durch das abnehmbare Display lässt sich das Surface Book binnen kürzester Zeit in ein Tablet verwandeln. Diese Tablet-Einheit lässt sich mit dem mitgelieferten Netzteil ohne gekoppelte Tastaturbasis aufladen. Mit 723 Gramm ist das Display im Tablet-Betrieb ähnlich schwer wie das allererste iPad (3G-Version). Das komplette Surface Book wiegt 1.578 Gramm (die Version ohne Geforce-Grafik 1.515 Gramm), also in etwa so viel wie das MacBook Pro 13 Zoll Retina. An Anschlüssen stehen zwei USB-3.0-Buchsen normaler Größe, ein Mini-DisplayPort, ein SD-Kartenschacht (UHS-II) sowie Kopfhörer-/Mikrofon-Buchse bereit. Ein USB-C-Anschluss fehlt. Zwei Mikrofone sind eingebaut, vorn eine 5-Megapixel-Frontkamera mit Full-HD-Videoaufnahme. Nicht alltäglich: Auf der Rückseite ist ebenfalls eine Kamera eingebaut, sie besitzt eine Auflösung von 8 Megapixel. Hinzu kommen WLAN-ac mit zwei Antennen (MIMO bis 867 Mbps) und Bluetooth 4.2.

Display und BedienungFazit: Mit "Battery Bar" behalten Sie den Akkuzustand Ihres Laptops immer im Auge. Wer auf Benachrichtigungen und Themes verzichten kann, liegt mit der Free-Version genau richtig. Wer mehr will, upgradet auf die Kauf-Variante.
Mit seiner Kombi aus Intels aktuellem Skylake-Prozessor, schneller SSD und einem ordentlich bemessenen Arbeitsspeicher erzielte das Medion Akoya E7420 im Test ein durchweg hohes Arbeitstempo. Mankos: Für grafisch aufwendige Spiele taugt das Aldi-Notebook nicht – dafür ist der im Prozessor untergebrachte Grafikchip zu schwach. Zudem hat das Medion nur eine USB-3.0-Buchse. Das ist etwas mager. Die restliche Ausstattung kann sich aber sehen lassen: Neben der SSD gibt es noch eine Festplatte mit 932 Gigabyte Speicher, ins Internet geht es per schnellem WLAN-ac und Bluetooth in der Version 4.0 ist Serie. 599 Euro sind für das „gute" Medion Akoya E7420 daher ein fairer Preis.

Der Countdown für 2016 läuft und kurz vor dem Jahreswechsel, am 30. Dezember, bietet Aldi Nord ein großes 17,3-Zoll-Notebook mit Windows 10 für 599 Euro an. Das ist nicht unbedingt ein Schnäppchen. Passen Preis und Leistung zusammen? Wie schnell ist das Medion Akoya E7420? Wie ist seine Ausstattung? Und wie hoch sind Geräuschpegel und Akkulaufzeit? COMPUTER BILD hat das Aldi-Notebook getestet.
Das Medion Akoya E7420 steckt in einem modernen Gehäuse ohne auffällige Akzente. Das in Silber und Schwarz gehaltene Aldi-Notebook bringt es auf stattliche 2,74 Kilogramm – das ist aber ein durchaus gängiger Wert für ein 17-Zoll-Notebook. Das große Display und das hohe Gewicht definieren dann aber auch den Einsatzzweck: Es ist weniger für den täglichen Transport von A nach B gedacht, sondern eher für den Ersatz eines klassischen Schreibtisch-PCs.
Der Bildschirm zeigt auf seiner 17,3-Zoll-Diagonalen (43,9 Zentimeter) Internetseiten, Spiele und Videos in Full HD mit 1920x1080 Bildpunkten. Die Wiedergabe erfolgt scharf, die Farbtreue ist mit 84,90 Prozent hoch, aber nicht spitze. Klasse: Der Bildwechsel erfolgt in 12,5 Millisekunden. So zeigt das Medion auch actionreiche Spielfilmszenen ohne hässliche Schlieren. Zudem ist das Display fast vollständig entspiegelt. Störende Reflexionen von Deckenleuchten gibt es so nicht. Die Entspiegelung hat aber einen kleinen Nachteil: Farben erscheinen etwas blass, dem Bildschirm fehlt es an Brillanz.

Batería Acer Aspire One D250

El Asus ZenBook 3 es más delgado y más ligero que el MacBook de Apple. Ese es el directo eslogan o la carta de presentación de uno de los nuevos modelos portátiles de la. De esta manera, el mismísimo director de la compañía, Jonney Shih, presumió de ello durante la presentación oficial del mismo.11,9 milímetros, un nueve por ciento más delgado que el MacBook y un treinta más fino que el modelo Air de Apple. Poco más de un centímetro de grosor para un ordenador que también pretende ser "el portátil más prestigioso del mundo”. A esas dimensiones tan escuetas hay que darle un peso de 910 gramos.

Con este lanzamiento Asus pretende competir directamente con Apple, no solo por la puesta en escena y por las constantes comparativas de su director general. Para los colores disponibles también se han inspirado en la marca de Cupertino: Royal Blue, el único color original; Quartz Grey, típico color de Apple y Rose Gold, en el que ni siquiera han tenido reparos de modificar el nombre.

Otra de las perlas que el director de la compañía taiwanesa soltó durante su presentación en Computex es que su computadora es "mejor que ambos”, en referencia a los dos modelos de la marca de la manzana con los que se comparó durante toda la presentación.El ZenBook 3 es el ordenador portátil de la empresa con una relación tamaño-pantalla más grande, con un porcentaje de un 82. Una pantalla de 12,5 pulgadas (una menos que los modelos de Apple) fabricada con cristal Gorilla, un lector de huella dactilar, teclado a tamaño completo y el touchpad cubierto de cristal, patentado en su día por la empresa americana, son algunas de las características más destacadas por el señor Shih durante el lanzamiento de éste nuevo portátil.

De momento llegará al mercado con un procesador i7 y un tera de memoria por un precio de 2.000 dólares (unos 1.700 euros). 1.500 (1.250 &euro si no te importa tener la mitad de memoria.Según la empresa asiática, el ZenBook 3 esta ensamblado con aluminio 6061, también llamado aluminio aeroespacial, lo que lo haría hasta un 50% más duro y resistente que el portátil medio del mercado.La batería tendría una autonomía de hasta nueve horas a pleno funcionamiento, planteado para ser utilizado como ordenador de uso principal. Lo más interesante llega a la hora de recargar esta batería, ya que cuenta con una tecnología de cargado rápido que puede suministrar hasta un 60% de energía en exactamente 49 minutos.
– "Es un sistema que depura el agua convirtiéndola en vapor, quitándole los elementos tóxicos, condensándola y, finalmente, remineralizándola y reduciendo su acidez, aprovechando el calor y la electricidad producidos a partir de la energía solar”, informa a Efe, Suhan Checuz, de Watly.

– La electricidad producida por los paneles solares, sirve para alimentar el funcionamiento de la propia máquina, para recargar teléfonos móviles, ordenadores portátiles y lámparas con batería, y para conectarse a redes de antenas 3G y 4G y a satélites y proporcionar una conexión a Internet a través de wifi, según sus creadores.– Durante sus 15 años de vida útil, el funcionamiento de una unidad 3.0 de este sistema puede evitar que se emitan a la atmósfera 2.500 toneladas de dióxido de carbono, según los impulsores del proyecto, liderado por el emprendedor e ingeniero italiano Marco A. Attisani.

Parece una nave de Star Wars con la forma de una letra "H” pero no levanta el vuelo ni surca el espacio, sino que permanece en tierra ayudando a mejorar la calidad de vida de quienes habitan en las regiones más remotas y menos desarrolladas del planeta, sin infraestructuras ni servicios modernos, o en zonas de países desarrollados donde abunda el sol pero escasea el agua.
Este sistema llamado Watly (https://watly.co) es definido por sus creadores como "la primera computadora alimentada por energía solar, que purifica el agua de cualquier tipo de contaminación, genera corriente eléctrica fuera de la red convencional y permite conectarse a Internet desde cualquier parte”.

Después de construir y ensayar el primer modelo (1.0) en 2013, los desarrolladores de Watly fabricaron un segundo prototipo de esta máquina, el 2.0, que tiene el tamaño de un coche pequeño y ha sido probado con éxito en 2014 en la pequeña aldea de Abenta, en Ghana (Africa) , proporcionado agua potable, electricidad y conexión 3G (voz y datos) a unas 750 personas.
Ahora sus desarrolladores están recaudando financiación para construir y poner en marcha la tercera versión este sistema, la 3.0, de un tamaño similar al de cuatro autobuses urbanos, destinado a dar servicio a 3.000 personas, con capacidad para entregar unos 5.000 litros de agua diarios durante 15 años de vida útil y que se prevé que se instalará en África en 2016.
Durante una década y media de servicio, el funcionamiento de una unidad 3.0 puede evitar que se emitan a la atmósfera 2.500 toneladas de gases de efecto invernadero (dióxido de carbono o CO2), el equivalente a 5.000 barriles de petróleo, según los impulsores del proyecto, liderado por el emprendedor e ingeniero italiano Marco A. Attisani y con sede en Barcelona (España).

El modelo Watly 3.0, cuyas localizaciones previstas son Ghana, Nigeria o Sudán, es solo otro paso dentro del objetivo global del proyecto: transformar las vidas de millones de personas que todavía carecen de electricidad y de acceso a internet, lo que les permitirá acceder a esta fuente de educación y entretenimiento, según los creadores de esta máquina ‘3 en 1’.
Este sistema utiliza la energía térmica (calor de los rayos solares) y la electricidad fotovoltaica (generada a partir de la luz del sol) para producir vapor y poner en marcha un proceso que potabiliza el agua, denominado de ‘destilación por compresión de vapor’, de acuerdo a los autores de este proyecto.

El agua contaminada entra al sistema impulsada por unas bombas, atraviesa un sistema con grafeno que separa los jabones, solventes e hidrocarburos, es precalentada y, después, puesta en ebullición. El vapor es condensado al pasar por un circuito que le extrae el calor y reaprovecha su energía térmica, según explican sus creadores a Efe.
"Finalmente, el líquido así obtenido, pasa por un sistema que le aporta minerales y le quita acidez, dejando el pH (equilibrio ácido-alcalino) en su nivel óptimo y consiguiendo un agua pura y potable, que se almacena en grandes depósitos, conectados a unos dispensadores situados en la parte central de la unidad, desde donde lo recogen sus usuarios finales”, informa a Efe Suhan Checuz, gerente de tecnologías de la información (TI) de Watly.
Este método permitiría desalinizar agua del océano, eliminar los agentes patógenos del agua contaminada, quitar los compuestos tóxicos y, además, desde Watly indican que ” no requiere el reemplazo de filtros ni membranas”.
La megamáquina no necesita conectarse a la red eléctrica convencional para funcionar ya que aprovecha la electricidad generada por sus 40 paneles solares para abastecer, tanto a sus propios sistemas electrónicos, como a los aparatos externos, como ordenadores portátiles, teléfonos móviles y lámparas recargables, que alimentan sus pequeñas baterías con la corriente eléctrica almacenada en la gran batería interna del sistema .

"Los paneles fotovoltaicos generan más de 70 kilovatios hora (kWh) y la electricidad generada y almacenada por una sola unidad de este sistema será suficiente como para recargar a diario 20.000 teléfonos o 5.000 lámparas recargables (luces LED con una batería incorporada), y la batería tiene capacidad como para abastecer este consumo durante 5 a 7 días”, según Checuz.
En lo que respecta a la conectividad, Watly es un potente aparato electrónico que puede recoger y enviar todo tipo de datos (vídeos, imágenes, textos, audios, radio) a través de Internet, con tanta eficacia como la de cualquier otro dispositivo de telecomunicaciones, de acuerdo a sus creadores.

Cada unidad 2.0 o 3.0 puede comunicarse con una plataforma central de gestión de redes, así como otras unidades Watly, a través de un enlace de radio, de las redes de telefonía móvil 3G y 4G, así como mediante las conexiones vía satélite, y dispone de un sistema wifi de 500 metros de alcance, según su ficha técnica.

Visto desde arriba, el sistema Watly 3.0 tiene la forma de una gigantesca letra ‘H’, cuya estructura tiene de 2,4 metros de altura y está formada por un zona central aproximadamente cuadrada de unos 12,5 por 12,5 metros, de la que salen cuatro extremidades semitubulares de 11 metros de largo cada una.
El conjunto completo mide 35 de largo por 12, 5 metros de ancho, y según el diario británico ‘The Telegraph’ pesa unas 15 toneladas.
"La parte central del modelo 3.0 se compone de una serie de paneles fotovoltaicos (que convierten la luz solar en electricidad) situados en la parte superior o tejado solar y de una serie de interfaces (conexiones) que interactúan con un dispensador o grifo de agua y con un cargador de baterías, sencillos de operar para el usuario”, de acuerdo a Checuz.

Las cuatro unidades o ‘alas’ de los extremos recogen la energía calorífica para depurar el agua y su parte superior tiene forma de arco para captar la mayor cantidad posible de radiación solar a lo largo del día y evitar que se produzcan sombras en los tubos paralelos denominados "aspiradores de calor”, que recorren su superficie a lo largo y captan el calor del sol, según esta fuente.
Para Attisani y su grupo, la belleza de este sistema radica en que todos su servicios se generan a partir de la ‘cosecha’ de la energía solar, ya que proporciona agua pura aprovechando el efecto térmico de la irradiación del sol, genera electricidad a través de la tecnología fotovoltaica y, con dicha corriente, alimenta los sistemas internos de telecomunicaciones.
Recalcan que Watly proporciona servicios múltiples porque cada uno de ellos es una consecuencia del otro: es un "hub” (centro de operaciones y de conexión) solar y multipropósito, "que ofrece un nuevo paradigma tecnológico, del que no hay precedentes, y por el que ya han mostrado su interés personas y autoridades de África, India, Oriente, Medio Australia y California (EEUU)”, según indican desde la empresa.
También concluyen asegurando que este sistema no está concebido solo para los países en vías de desarrollo, sino que además "puede ser útil para aquellas zonas de países desarrollados que reciben mucha luz solar, pero tienen problemas para abastecerse de agua limpia”. EFE/REPORTAJES

Una de las peores cosas de irse de viaje (si es que se le puede poner alguna pega) es el hecho de tener que llevar, empujar o incluso arrastrar el pesado equipaje que suele acompañar a los viajeros a recorrer el mundo, a disfrutar de la playa o simplemente a visitar a la familia. Eso debieron pensar desde Cowa Robot o NUA Robotics, que, hartos de cargar con los enseres a cuestas, han inventado sendas maletas que le seguirán allá donde vaya.

La startup china presentó, a comienzos de mayo en la 'Feria CES Asia' algunos productos realmente sorprendentes, entre los que destacó, sin duda alguna, su maleta robotizada. Este pequeño baúl móvil cuenta con sensores de visión y dos ruedas móviles que permiten seguir a su dueño automáticamente (identificado por una pulsera codificada). Además, la maleta le aguantará todo el trote que la quiera dar, ya que cuenta con una autonomía de hasta 20 kilómetros.

Decir adiós a los días de sufrimiento cargando pesadas maletas por los infinitos pasillos de los aeropuertos y hacerse con su 'fiel maleta' le costará unos 650 dólares, aunque si la reserva de antemano en la página web de la compañía le puede salir por unos 399 dólares. Eso sí, si llega tarde a su embarque no corra, porque puede llegar a perder sus pertenencias, ya que la maleta de Cowa Robot alcanza como máximo los 7,2 kilómetros hora.

Por su parte, la maleta de NUA Robotics, presentada también a comienzos de año, se conecta a través de Bluetooth gracias a una aplicación para el móvil, por lo que siempre sabrá dónde está su maleta. El smartphone le indicará en todo momento su localización, recorrido, peso y estado de la batería (recargable).Además de seguirle a todos lados, la maleta de la compañía israelí promete cargar sus dispositivos, como el móvil, el ordenador portátil o el iPad, y cuenta con una alarma antirrobo.

Das Surface Book läuft mit Windows 10 und akzeptiert daher auch Desktop-Programme. Je nach Variante läuft es mit schnellen i5- oder i7-Prozessoren von Intel sowie mit einen Arbeitsspeicher von bis zu 16 Gigabyte. Damit ist die Leistung stark genug für Hardware-hungrige Bild- und Videobearbeitungsprogramme. Ab dem Modell mit der zweitkleinsten Ausstattung gibt es eine dezidierte Grafikkarte von Nvidia für eine zusätzliche Leistung. Der Import von Hunderten von Bildern funktioniert sehr flüssig. Ich kann sie auf die Workflow setzen, die ich bereits auch vom Desktop gewohnt bin. Mit einem Unterschied: Die Schaltflächen sind nicht für die Fingerbedienung auf einem 13,5-Zoll-Display vorgesehen. Um sie präzise zu treffen, brauche ich im Clipboard-Modus dringend den Surface Pen. Somit gibt es für ausgewählte Desktop-Programme einen Touch-Modus auf dem Surface Book. Angesichts der generell exzellenten Abstimmung von Hard- und Software bei iOS-Geräten ist das aber ein eher schwacher Trost.

Und was macht das Surface Book für einen Lärm! Im Gegensatz zum iPad Pro arbeitet im Surface Book ein aktiver Lüfter. Er springt überraschend schnell an und ist in ruhiger Arbeitsumgebung unangenehm laut.Schnittstellen und Speicherplatz: Surface Book und iPad Pro als stationärer RechnerJetzt noch unterwegs, später in der Redaktion, im Agentur-Büro, Coworking-Space oder Home Office – Kreative profitieren von den 2in1-Rechnern, die flexibel einsetzbar sind. Nicht so das iPad Pro – dass Apple seine Mobilgeräte für die drahtlose Vernetzung ausgelegt hat, zeigt sich auch hier. Außer dem Lightning-Anschluss bietet es keine physischen Schnittstellen. Dafür muss dann eben doch ein MacBook Pro her. Ganz anders das Surface Book: es gibt einen Slot für SD-Karten, zwei Steckplätze für schnelles USB 3 und einen Mini-Display-Port für einen großen Bildschirm. Das optionale Surface Dock (229,99 Euro) ergänzt weitere Anschlüsse wie ein LAN-Anschluss. Das funktioniert aber nur, wenn Clipboard und Sockel verbunden sind, das Tablet selbst verfügt über keine Schnittstellen. Als Komplettpaket lässt sich das Surface Book recht gutals alleiniger Hauptrechner in ein Büro-Setup einbinden. Die Leistung passt ohnehin – mit bis zu 512 Gigabyte bietet auch die SSD-Festplatte viel Platz. Beim iPad Pro ist hingegen bei 256 Gigabyte Massenspeicher Schluss – für ein Mobilgerät ist das mehr als okay.

Mobilität: Mit dem 2in1-Rechner unterwegsApropos: In Sachen Mobilität schlägt das iPad Pro das Surface Book. Das beginnt schon beim mobilen Internet. Gegen einen Aufpreis ist das iPad Pro auch mit LTE erhältlich. Das Surface Book funktioniert dagegen nur über WLAN und Bluetooth, daher muss unterwegs im Zweifelsfall das LTE-fähige Smartphone als Hotspot herhalten. Maße und Gewicht nehmen sich beide im reinem Vergleich der Tablets wenig. Das iPad Pro ist mit 6,9 Millimeter in der Tiefe und 723 Gramm Gewicht (LTE-Variante) nur etwas kompakter als das Surface Book (7,7 Millimeter, 726 Gramm). Rechnet man das Smart-Keyboard beim iPad Pro bzw. den Sockel beim Surface Book dazu, werden hier die Nachteile klar – dann wiegt das Surface Book mit 1,5 Kilogramm genauso viel wie andere Ultrabooks, das iPad Pro wiegt dagegen aber nur 938 Gramm.

Acer verbaut ein 15,6-Zoll IPS-Display in der Full HD-Auflösung von 1.920 x 1.080 Pixeln und liefert euch damit einen klasse Bildschirm. Dank scharfer Darstellung, satten Farben und stabilen Blickwinkeln findet sich wenig Anlass zur Kritik. Wir vermerken einen hohen Kontrast und können auch bei vollflächigem, sattem Schwarz keine Lichthöfe ausmachen. Die maximale Helligkeit ist im Zusammenspiel mit der mattierten Beschichtung auch im Freien für eine lesbare Darstellung ausreichend. In der dunkelsten Einstellung nehmen wir kein Flimmern wahr, wie es bei PWM-gedimmter LED-Beleuchtung mitunter der Fall ist.

Genauso knackig wie das Display zeigt sich der Sound aus den insgesamt vier Lautsprechern: So kräftigen, klaren und ausgewogenen Klang erlebt man nur bei wenigen 15-Zoll Notebooks. Speziell angesichts der schlanken Bauweise des Acer VN7 ist die Tonwiedergabe beeindruckend. Oft wird empfohlen, dem Notebook ein separates Soundsystem zur Seite zu stellen – das könnt ihr euch in diesem Fall sparen.

Der DVD-Brenner der Acer VN7-572G Familie „begrenzt" die Leistung des Testmodells insofern, als dass der eingenommene Platzbedarf das Kühlpotenzial mindert und deswegen ein Intel Skylake U-Serie-Prozessor mit maximal 15 Watt Stromverbrauch und eine Nvidia Geforce GTX 950M-Mittelklasse-Grafik das höchste der Gefühle sind. Das bedeutet keineswegs, dass das Acer VN7 Testgerät langsam ist, zeigt nur die Abgrenzung zur teureren Black Edition (VN7-592G), die anstelle des DVD-Laufwerks einen weiteren Lüfter verbaut und mehr Power bietet.

Was kann man vom Intel Core i7-6500U, 8 GB DDR4 Arbeitsspeicher und einer Nvidia Geforce GTX 950M erwarten? Eine Menge! Die anspruchsvollste Aufgabe für die VN7-Notebooks ist in vielen Fällen Gaming und hier schlägt sich unsere Hardware-Ausstattung in Full HD-Auflösung und mittleren bis hohen Details hervorragend durch die meisten Blockbuster-Titel: GTA V beispielsweise läuft sogar mit 2xMSAA Kantenglättung und hohen Details, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare bietet sogar noch etwas höhere Frameraten. Für Assassins Creed: Syndicate und Batman: Arkham Knight wird man die Auflösung auf 1.366×768 Pixel reduzieren und auch auf Kantenglättung verzichten müssen. Im Unigine Valley Extreme HD Benchmark-Szenario werden 504 Punkte erreicht, ohne Netzkabel in der Steckdose kommt das VN7 immer noch auf 444 Punkte. Wer bezüglich der Grafikeinstellungen unsicher ist, lässt sich selbige am besten automatisch von der Geforce Experience-Software ermitteln und einstellen.

Im Alltag darf dank der 128 GB-SSD als Systemlaufwerk eine flotte Performance erwartet werden. Das Betriebssystem startet schnell, Programme werden zügig installiert und Surfen oder Office stellt den Acer VN7-572G vor keine Probleme. Knapp 560 MB/s sequentielle Leserate verdeutlichen hier ordentlich Power. Bei der Schreibleistung ist die SSD von LiteOn mit 182 MB/s gar nicht so weit von der 1TB-HDD von Toshiba entfernt (119/117 MB/s).

Abseits der Steckdose kann man im Leerlauf bei niedrigster Helligkeit bis zu 13 Stunden Akkulaufzeit rausholen. Unter hoher Belastung, also bei Spielen, ist der Akku nach einer Stunde und 25 Minuten leer. Je nachdem, zu welcher Gruppe Anwender ihr zählt, könnt ihr also mit Laufzeiten zwischen 5 und 7 Stunden rechnen.

Dafür, dass man alles Mögliche mit diesem kleinen PC-Ersatz anstellen kann, sorgt auch die Anschlussvielfalt des Acer VN7-572G-72L0: Neben dem optischen Laufwerk sitzt ein USB 2.0-Port, die Front beherbergt einen SD-Kartenslot und das restliche Anschlussportfolio findet ihr auf der rechten Gehäuseseite – dazu zählen eine Headset-Buchse, zwei UBS 3.0-Ports, ein USB 3.1-Type C-Anschluss, ein HDMI-Ausgang und ein Ethernet-Port für Gigabit-LAN.

Wie schon beschrieben, hat Acer besonders auch im Bereich der drahtlosen Kommunikation aufgestockt: Das 2×2 MIMO-Antennensetup gewährleistet guten Empfang für das WLAN-ac-Modul von Qualcomm. Zusätzlich zum WiFi wird auch Bluetooth 4.0 unterstützt.
Der kommerzielle Erfolg der Acer Aspire VN7-Serie ist kein Wunder angesichts des stimmigen Gesamteindrucks. Display und Lautsprecher könnten viel besser gar nicht sein, die Performance deckt beinahe alle Tätigkeitsfeld bis hin zum Gaming ab. Mit rund 6 Stunden Akkulaufzeit sowie einem Gewicht von 2,4 Kilo sorgt das VN7-572G für genug Mobilität im Alltag.

Im Grunde stellt sich für euch nur die Frage, ob ihr das DVD-Laufwerk wirklich braucht oder aber ob die 100 Euro teurere VN7-592G-74H8-Variante mit Skylake-Quadcore-CPU, Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M-Grafik (+30%) und 256 GB SSD nicht eher den Leistungsanforderungen entspricht.16.01.2014 BERLIN. Die Farbwahl Rot-Schwarz orientierte sich am U2-Album "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb", sah aber einfach nur hässlich aus. Da halfen auch die eingravierten Autogramme auf der Rückseite des iPods nicht. Man mag es kaum glauben, aber bevor es Smartphones und Tablets gab, mussten sich die Menschen mit sogenannten Personal Digital Assistants und Organizern behelfen. Wirklich schön waren die PDAs nie, aber ein besonders hässliches Exemplar ist der Newton MessagePad 2100 von Apple. Das Gerät aus dem Jahr 1997 wird von Apple heute vielleicht liebevoll als Urahn des iPads bezeichnet – aber mal ehrlich: das MessagePad 2100 sieht eher wie ein Kreditkarten-Scanner an der Supermarktkasse aus und nicht wie die Zukunft des Tablets.

Bereits das iPhone 5c war mit seinem Plastikgehäuse und den stechend-grellen Farben nicht unbedingt ein schönes Produkt. Was Apple dann allerdings als Zubehör für das bunte Smartphone anbot, grenzte schon fast an Selbstironie: das Dot Case. Der Konzern wird sicherlich gedacht haben, dass die ungewöhnliche Hülle wie die Faust aufs Auge zum ungewöhnlichen Mobiltelefon passt – allerdings ist Apple dabei anscheinend irgendwie entgangen, dass der Schriftzug "iPhone" auf der Rückseite durch das Lochmuster zum "non" verkürzt wird.

Kai-Christian Möller vom Fraunhofer-Institut für Chemische Technologie in München stellt fest, dass handelsübliche Akkupacks um die 30 Euro eine Leistung von 13000 Milliamperestunden (mAh) bringen. "Das reicht, um ein Mobiltelefon etwa sechs- bis neunmal aufzuladen", sagt er. "Für einen Laptop dagegen nur einmal."

　日本HPは6月15日、同社製ノートPCのバッテリーに過熱／発火の危険性があると発表、無償交換プログラムを開始する。Lenovoは3日(米国時間)、米国ラスベガスで開催される2016 International CES(CES 2016)で公開する新製品として、ハイパフォーマンスの12.5型ノートPC「ThinkPad X260」を発表した。ワールドワイドで2月から出荷開始。価格は929ドルから。


Broadwellを搭載していた従来機「ThinkPad X250」の新モデルで、搭載CPUがU型番の第6世代Intel Coreプロセッサに刷新されたことが大きな特徴。また、バッテリ駆動時間も従来の20時間から伸び、きょう体サイズは従来通りだが、最大21.4時間のバッテリ駆動を実現した(3+6セル・72WHr時)。LTEオプションとしてQualcomm製の「Snapdragon X7」やSierra　Wirelessの「EM7455」、Huaweiの「ME906」といったモデムも用意する。

バッテリー内蔵型のモバイルプロジェクター。Wi-Fi機能を搭載し、スマートフォン/タブレットやPCから手軽にワイヤレスで投影できる。ルーターなどのアクセスポイントを経由して接続できるほか、アクセスポイントがない環境でも、プロジェクターとスマートフォン/タブレットなどを直接接続することが可能だ。

また、バッテリー駆動時間は約1.5時間で、輝度は標準モードと節電モードを切り替えられる。節電モードの利用時には、バッテリー駆動時間を最長2時間まで延長できるという。さらに、輝度100ルーメンのLED光源を採用し、約1万時間の長寿命を実現。毎日5時間使用しても、約5年間メンテナンスが不要とのことだ。
このほか主な仕様は、映像素子がDMDデバイス×1、画素数が854ドット×480ドット、ズームが固定、光源がLED光源（寿命目安約10000時間）、明るさが100ルーメン（標準）/約60ルーメン（節電）。インターフェイスは、MHL対応HDMI×1、ステレオミニ×1を装備する。

主な変更点は、画面の輝度を150カンデラ／平方メートル以上にすること、無線LANでネットに接続した状態にすること、フルハイビジョンの再生映像をフルスクリーン表示すること、などだ（写真2）。　これまでのVer.1.0では、画面輝度は20カンデラ／平方メートル、無線LANは考慮されておらず、動画の表示サイズは320×240ドットだった。2.0の詳細な内容や測定時に使用する動画は、JEITAが2月21日以降にWebサイトで公開する（掲載予定のWebサイト）。

　Ver.2.0は1.0と比べて多く電力を消費する条件であるため、バッテリー駆動時間は短くなる。2.0が施行される4月1日以降は、仕様がほとんど同じでも、新製品が旧製品よりもバッテリー駆動時間が短いというケースが出てくる可能性が高く、わかりにくい。このため、1年間程度は新旧測定法による駆動時間を併記してもよい、とされている。

　2月20日時点で、Ver.2.0の採用を予定しているのは、ASUS JAPAN、NECパーソナルコンピュータ、エプソンダイレクト、東芝、日本ヒューレット・パッカード、パナソニック、富士通、マウスコンピューター、ユニットコム。このほかのメーカーも今後採用する可能性がある。

本体サイズは11（幅）×1.7（高さ）×11（奥行）cm、重量は260g。ボディカラーはディープブルー、シルバーの2色を用意した。
筆者は先週の2日間、ノートPCの充電を一度もしなかった。その間、仕事場と自宅を2往復し、このコラムを執筆し、TVドラマ「シャーロック」の2回分の放送をストリーミング再生で視聴し、コーヒーを7杯飲み、携帯電話を4回充電した。

　この冬、1回の充電で最長22時間の駆動時間を実現したノートPCの最新モデルが登場している。これだけあれば2日間の仕事――もしくは最悪の1日に十分だ。　バッテリー駆動時間は最大の難点だ。新品の携帯電話やノートPC、カメラ、時計がどれだけ素晴らしくても、充電しなければ始まらない。　私たちが電子機器に求めるものは、速さ、軽さ、安さ、見た目の良さ、そしていつまでもなくならないバッテリーだ。私たちはいよいよ、少なくともノートPCに関しては全てを手に入れる段階に近づきつつあるようだ。

　これまで長い間、ノートPCがデスクトップになるほど大きなバッテリーを買うことはできたが、米アップルや台湾の宏碁（エイサー）、米デル、中国の聯想（レノボ）が出している最新モデルの13インチ型は片手で持てる大きさで、本気の仕事ができるだけの十分な駆動時間がある。筆者はこれらのメーカーから新モデルを貸してもらい、実際に試してみた。 そのなかで断トツのスタミナがあったのはレノボの「ThinkPad （シンクパッド）X250」だった。出荷開始は来月で、価格は1150ドル（約13万6000円）から。筆者が試したモデルには大きな予備バッテリーが用意されており、これを使用すると21時間半余り駆動時間が続いた。

　ただ、筆者が最も推奨するのはデルの新モデル「XPS 13」だ。駆動時間は約12時間で価格は800ドルから。別売りのバッテリー（108ドル）を使うと18時間半余りもつ。このモデルが素晴らしいのは、デルはこれを安くて小さな、しかもアップルの薄型ノートPC「MacBook Air（マックブック・エア）」よりもやや軽い2.6ポンド（約1.2キロ）で仕上げたことだ（搭載バッテリーの駆動時間はマックブック・エアよりもほんのわずかだが長かった）。

ノートPCのバッテリー駆動時間が長くなった背景には搭載プロセッサの性能向上がある。エイサーやデル、レノボの最新モデルには米インテルの第5世代「Core」プロセッサが搭載されている。昨年の旧モデルと比較するとバッテリー駆動時間が約90分長くなる。　また、ディスプレイや無線通信もバッテリーを消費するうえ、基本ソフト（OS）やメモリの種類、そしてもちろんバッテリーの大きさや密度といった要因も駆動時間に影響する。

　PCの使い方は人それぞれ違うため、完璧なテストというものはない。筆者は3種類のテストを試みた。まず、ハードドライブに保存した大自然のビデオを連続再生しながら、世界で最も飛行時間の長い航空機に乗っているつもりで映画を流し続けた。次に組み込み機器向けのベンチマーク方式を標準化した業界団体EEMBCのプログラムを実行し、ウェブブラウザーで最も人気のあるサイトのロードとスクロール閲覧を何度も繰り返した。最後にいつも通りの使い方をしてみた。

　プロセッサはかなり性能が上がった。ノートPCユーザーなら誰もがインテルの第4世代Coreが搭載された2013å¹´6月以降の製品を欲しがるだろう。可能であれば、最新の第5世代が搭載された製品を買おう。　「Core M」と呼ばれるプロセッサもある。バッテリー消費量は少ないが、性能も劣る。メーカーは軽量かつ駆動時間の短い超小型ノートPCに搭載している。これを搭載した東芝の2-in-1型「Portégé Z20t」の駆動時間は17.4時間とされている（東芝からはこのコラムに間に合うように最新モデルを借りることができなかった）。

　画面がより大きく、明るく、鮮明になればなるだけバッテリーは消費される。できるだけ駆動時間を長くしたければ、明るさを落とすと良い。筆者は同じ条件でテストするため露出計を使った。その結果、ほとんどが約70％の設定になった。　解像度も影響する。筆者のテストでは比較的スタンダードな1920X1080ピクセルのデルのXPS 13がクアッドHD　3200X1800ピクセルの画面を搭載した製品より駆動時間は4時間長かった。

Dan kom je natuurlijk al snel uit bij gaming laptops. De kracht van een pc in de vorm van een laptop. MSI maakt al sinds jaar en dag dit soort krachtige laptops en de recent verschenen GE72 6QF is daar geen uitzondering op. Maar hoeveel gaming krijg je in een laptop van 1600 euro?

Gamers houden niet van subtiele dingen. Vraag een gemiddelde pc-gamer om een foto van zijn kast en je krijgt plaatjes met neonverlichting en waterkoeling te zien. Dat is iets wat bij de Taiwanese hardwarefabrikant ook is opgevallen, want vanaf het moment dat je de doos open doet, schreeuwt de laptop ‘GAMING!’. De behuizing van het systeem bestaat uit een donker opgeborsteld aluminium met rode accenten aan de randen. Daarbovenop pronkt een groot logo van MSI en de G-Series waar de laptop onder valt. Zoals ik al zei: subtiel zijn ze niet.

Die ‘subtiliteit’ loopt door als je de laptop zelf openklapt. De laptop huist een 17,3 inch aan de randen verlicht IPS-paneel. Hierdoor heb je voldoende ruimte om te werken en te gamen natuurlijk. Dankzij de matte coating is het daarnaast ook geen probleem om buiten te werken. Het valt echter wel op dat het beeldscherm niet extreem fel is. Daardoor kan direct licht op je laptop het beeld snel verdrukken. Ook heeft de laptop last van bleeding aan de randen van het scherm: licht dat van achter het paneel naar binnen lijkt te lekken. Hoewel dit snel went wanneer er kleur op het beeldscherm is, valt het in donkere situaties wel op.

Onder het scherm vind je een SteelSeries-toetsenbord dat van alle gemakken is voorzien. Zowel alle standaardtoetsen als een volledige set numerieke toetsen is aanwezig. Daarbij is het complete toetsenbord voorzien van verlichting die ook nog in alle kleuren van de regenboog is in te stellen. Het feit dat de Windows-toets naar de rechterkant van de spatiebalk is verschoven is wel erg wennen, waardoor je regelmatig de control-knop zult missen. Toch is het niets dat gewenning niet kan voorkomen. Over de toetsen zelf is weinig aan te merken: ze liggen lekker onder de vingers en kennen voldoende travel, waardoor je wel het gevoel hebt dat je een knop indrukt. De enige opmerking is dat de persoon die het ‘hippe’ lettertype op de toetsen heeft uitgekozen zich diep mag schamen.

Waar we minder over te spreken zijn, is de trackpad onder het toetsenbord. Hoewel deze erg ruim is, heeft MSI ervoor gekozen om een geborstelde finish te gebruiken net zoals je op de buitenkant terugziet. Hoewel dit een leuk effect geeft, werkt het helemaal niet lekker. De trackpad is stroef en lijkt soms zelfs te vergeten dat je met dingen bezig bent door spontaan even te stoppen. De linker- en rechtermuisknop zijn daarentegen wel prima in hun respons.

Verder vind je aan de buitenkant van de laptop nog een USB 2.0 poort, twee USB 3.0 poorten, een USB 3.1 type C-poort en een SD-kaartlezer. Ook zijn er een mini-Display poort en een volledige HDMI-poort aanwezig om externe beeldschermen aan te sluiten. Om het geheel af te maken is er natuurlijk ook een audio in- en uitgang en een gigabit ethernet-poort. Wat betreft de aansluitmogelijkheden is er dan ook niets op de GE72 6QF aan te merken.

Maar het gaat uiteindelijk om wat er binnen in de behuizing zit. Daar is vrij weinig over te klagen en daar heeft MSI de zaakjes dan ook goed op orde. Op het moederbord vinden we een Intel I7-6700HQ processor uit de Skylake-serie terug. Deze is goed voor een standaard processorsnelheid van 2,6 GHz, maar kan oplopen tot 3,5 GHz wanneer dit nodig is. Daarbij zit er standaard 8 GB DDR4 werkgeheugen in de laptop, maar als je wilt kun je dit uitbreiden naar een totaal van 32 GB.

Om alles ook daadwerkelijk op te kunnen slaan, heb je beschikking over twee harde schijven. Voor de belangrijkste zaken zoals Windows 10, dat standaard op de laptop staat, heb je de beschikking over een 128 GB Toshiba SSD. Daarnaast is er ook een HGST harde schijf beschikbaar met 1 terabyte aan opslag voor al je andere zaken.

Maar uiteindelijk wil je natuurlijk gamen op de laptop. Om dat mogelijk te maken heeft MSI gekozen voor de Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M-chip op het moederbord, die goed is voor 3 GB videogeheugen. Als je daarmee hoopt om iedere game op ultra-settings te kunnen spelen, zul je van een koude kermis thuiskomen. Daarvoor is de chip niet gemaakt en kun je beter op zoek gaan naar een vaste gaming-pc. Wanneer je echter kunt leven met instellingen op de één na hoogste stand, zul je prima uit de voeten kunnen met de laptop.

"Steeds meer bedrijven worden zich bewust van verantwoorde grondstoffen en gaan hier ook pro-actiever naar handelen door zich af te vragen: waar komen de grondstoffen in onze producten eigenlijk vandaan? De overgang naar het werkelijk uitsluiten van onverantwoorde grondstoffen gaat vaak langzaam. De oplossing ligt in het zoeken naar samenwerkingsverbanden met enerzijds peers in dezelfde industrie maar anderzijds moeten ook regeringen en NGO’s betrokken worden om echt resultaat te behalen”, aldus Neefs.

Wie is verantwoordelijk?
Er zijn veel spelers betrokken bij het gehele productieproces van elektronische apparatuur waarin kobalt gebruikt wordt. Volgens Koch van het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken hebben die spelers allemaal hun verantwoordelijkheid. "In feite zou iedere stakeholder in de productieketen een pin in het rad kunnen steken om het proces te stoppen en daarmee alle stakeholders dwingen vragen te stellen bij de kobaltwinning in Congo” zegt Koch terwijl hij met zijn pen in de lucht prikt. Volgens Scheele hoeven we alleen van de mijncorporaties weinig medewerking te verwachten.

Iedere stakeholder in de productieketen zou een pin in het rad kunnen steken om het proces te stoppen.
Twee jaar geleden zijn er binnen de Europese Unie afspraken gemaakt over de 3TG’s conflict mineralen. Vrijwillige uitsluiting van conflict mineralen zou de norm worden. Hierover is veel discussie geweest want waarom is er gekozen voor vrijwillige en niet verplichte uitsluiting? Kobalt staat nog niet op de lijst van conflict mineralen. Volgens Koch zou dit niet moeten betekenen dat bedrijven zich nog niet hoeven te verdiepen in waar de kobalt in hun producten vandaan komt. "De Nederlandse overheid probeert bedrijven juist te stimuleren nu al te investeren in dit soort problematiek.”

In onze testen komt de laptop dan ook prima uit de bus. Gedurende het spelen van games als Project CARS, Metal Gear Solid V en Elite Dangerous kun je rekenen op stabiele frame rates van tussen de 40 en 50 frames per seconde. Pak je iets oudere titels, zoals een Battlefield 4, dan kom je op hoge instellingen aan de 90 frames per seconde en zak je bij Ultra terug naar 60 frames per seconden. Prima resultaten dus waar je bij een laptop zeker niet over kan klagen. Opvallend is wel dat tijdens onze 3DMark testen de laptop grafisch prima uit de bus komt, maar bij physics de plank compleet lijkt mis te slaan. Of dit aan ons testexemplaar lag, of dat we te maken hebben met een structureel probleem, kunnen we echter niet zeggen.

Frame rates kunnen echter inzakken, helemaal wanneer de laptop niet koel blijft. Wat ons pas na enkele uren testen duidelijk werd, is dat de GE72 6QF een losse knop heeft om de ventilatoren aan te zetten. Wanneer je deze aan zet, zul je merken dat de temperatuur van onder andere de processor naar beneden zal schieten en prestaties zullen verbeteren. Bijkomend nadeel is echter dat ook de geluidsproductie van de laptop omhoog zal schieten en voor flink wat kabaal kan zorgen, waardoor het bijna nodig is om een hoofdtelefoon op te zetten of het geluid op maximaal volume te zetten om lekker te kunnen gamen. Let er dus mee op als je in de trein zit, anders denken medepassagiers dat de trein zal opstijgen richting een zonnig vakantieoord.

Die games draai je op Windows 10 en hoewel hier, tegen de globale opinie in, weinig mis mee is wat ons betreft, is het jammer dat de laptop wordt geleverd met een bak extra bloatware waar je bijna akelig van wordt. Waar je op een pc of laptop met een kale installatie van Windows maximaal vijf a zes icoontjes in de taakbalk ziet staan, loopt dat op de GE72 6QF vaak uit naar vijftien tot twintig iconen van software die allemaal op de achtergrond actief is. Software voor de laptop zelf, software voor het toetsenbord, software voor de ethernetpoort en ga zo maar door. We zouden bijna zeggen dat je beter rekening kunt houden met de aanschaf van een extra exemplaar van Windows 10.

Waar je echter niet op hoeft te rekenen zijn uitgebreide gamingsessies weg van een stopcontact. De zware grafische kaart en het grote beeldscherm zorgen er namelijk voor dat je batterij snel zal leeglopen. Voor normaal gebruik, zoals wat artikelen lezen op GameCensor of het kijken van onze videorecensies, zul je zo’n drie uur vooruit kunnen, mogelijk wat meer als je optimaal gebruikmaakt van de eco-modus. Wil je echter titels als Metal Gear Solid V of Elite Dangerous spelen, dan zul je niet veel verder komen dan een klein uurtje. Dus hoewel je vrij bent om te gaan en te staan waar je wilt, blijf je aan een snoertje vastzitten.

Voor net geen 1600 euro krijg je veel laptop. Een krachtige processor en grafische chip, voldoende opslagruimte en een flink scherm, verpakt in een stijlvolle behuizing. Er zitten echter ook een paar nadelen aan dit pakket: mobiel gamen zal altijd in de buurt van een stopcontact moeten gebeuren en om het zaakje koel te houden wordt er best wel veel geluid geproduceerd. Dat gezegd hebbende: het is en blijft een laptop en dat is dan ook wat je in je achterhoofd moet houden. Ultieme prestaties zijn dan heel schaars, zelfs bij zo’n bedrag. Is een desktop-pc echter echt geen optie voor je, dan is de MSI GE72 6QF een zeer degelijke keuze.
Facebook staat nooit stil. Er wordt constant gesleuteld aan algoritmes, berichtfuncties, advertentiemogelijkheden, de newsfeed krijgt om de zoveel tijd een nieuwe uitstraling, elke dag is er wel weer iets anders waar je op kunt klikken. Waar je ooit een ‘cadeautjes’ op elkaars profiel kon achterlaten en glibberig kon flirten door te porren, lees je nu over verdwenen vliegtuigen en Sylvana Simons in Instant Articles en reageer je met hartjes en lachende smileys op filmpjes van tongende katten.

Akku Asus K52JB

Nicht top, aber okay ist der Antrieb: Der Einstiegsprozessor Core i3-6100U stammt aus Intels aktueller Skylake-Serie. Der hat nur zwei Kerne, die bei Bedarf aber immerhin mit einer maximalen Taktfrequenz von 2,3 Gigahertz arbeiten. Dem Prozessor steht ein mit 6 Gigabyte ausreichend groß bemessener Arbeitsspeicher zur Seite. Das muss auch so sein. Denn der in der CPU untergebrachte Grafikchip HD Graphics 520 hat wiederum keinen eigenen Grafikspeicher – den knappst er sich bei Bedarf vom Arbeitsspeicher ab. Klasse: Eine schnelle SSD im Steckkartenformat m.2 und 119 Gigabyte Speicher hat das Aldi-Notebook ebenfalls (Phison PS3109-S9), eine klassische 932-Gigabyte-Festplatte auch (Toshiba MQ01ABD100).

Das das Akoya E7420 ein echtes Arbeitstier ist, zeigte sich im Test: Er war zwar kein Überflieger, erledigte aber alle Prüfungen mit einem hohen Tempo. Das galt aber nicht für die Geschwindigkeitsprüfungen beim Spielen: Bei grafisch aufwendigen Titeln des Kalibers „GTA 5" ruckelte die Wiedergabe stark. Die Ursache hierfür ist der schwache Grafikchip in der CPU – einen separaten, starken Grafikprozessor hat das Medion nicht. Auf einem akzeptablen Niveau bewegte sich die Akkulaufzeit: Beim Arbeiten mit Office kam das Medion drei Stunden und 18 Minuten ohne Steckdose aus, bei der Videowiedergabe waren es drei Stunden und 21 Minuten. Das sind keine berauschende Werte, aber akzeptable. Bestens hingegen: Das Medion war im Test leise – selbst unter Volllast waren seine Lüfter mit 0,7 Sone kaum zu hören. Und die Wärmeentwicklung an der Unterseite ist sehr gering: Nach zwei Stunden Arbeit lag die Temperatur bei 14,7 Grad (zuzüglich Umgebungstemperatur).

Weniger erfreulich: Das Medion hat für externe Festplatten nur einen schnellen USB-3.0-Anschluss. Hier hat Medion gespart. Denn zusätzlich gibt es zwei USB-Anschlüsse, nach altem, viel langsameren, 2.0-Standard. Für Monitore hat das Akoya eine VGA-Buchse und einen HDMI-Anschluss, die Verbindung zum Router erfolgt wahlweise kabelgebunden per Netzwerkanschluss oder drahtlos per schnellem WLAN-ac. Zudem gehören für drahtlose Lautsprecher Bluetooth in der Version 4.0 und ein Speicherkartenleser fürs schnelle Überspielen von Fotos der Digitalkamera zur Serienausstattung.
Akku wechseln statt aufladen – so könnte eine Flugdrohne fast durchgehend in der Luft bleiben. Dafür entwickelt Asylon eine automatische Akkuwechselstation.

Einschätzung: Wenn es G-Sync sein soll, dann ist der Acer Predator Z35 eine gute Wahl. Klar, für mehr als 1.000 Euro können Sie sich problemlos einen mächtigen Gaming-PC zusammenschrauben – sogar ein Einsteiger-TFT passt da noch in das Budget rein. Wer aber einmal auf 35 Zoll vollkommen ruckelfrei gespielt und den nötigen Platz in der Wohnung hat, will diesen G-Sync-Monitor sicher nicht mehr hergeben.
Das 17,3-Zoll-Notebook G751JY für rund 1.800 Euro richtet sich ganz klar an Spieler. Die Rechenarbeit verrichtet der Core i7-4720HQ, ein Highend-Prozessor aus Intels Haswell-Serie. Die Quad-Core-CPU taktet mit 2,6 GHz. Zur Seite stehen ihr 24 GByte DDR3-Arbeitsspeicher, wobei einer der vier Speicherbänke nicht belegt ist. Die Grafikausgabe übernimmt die sehr schnelle Nvidia Geforce GTX 980M. Das integrierte IPS-Display mit Full-HD-Auflösung ist mit einem G-Sync-Modul ausgestattet und so intern mit der GPU synchronisiert. Der Massenspeicher besteht aus einer 256 GByte großen SSD und einer 1-TByte-Festplatte.

Im Test überzeugt das Notebook[Anzeige] Sparen auch Sie 153,50€ beim Kauf eines neuen Apple Mac mini mit exzellenten Benchmark-Ergebnissen – besonders die Grafikkarte und die SSD beschleunigen das System massiv. Im Firestrike-Benchmark des 3DMark erreicht es 8.503 Punkte. Im Desktop-Vergleich liegt der Laptop zwischen einer Geforce GTX 960 und GTX 970 – ein beachtliches Ergebnis. Weitere synthetische Benchmarks wie die Unigine-Suiten erreichen bei bestmöglicher Optik durchwegs mehr als 45 Bilder pro Sekunde. Wenig überraschend sind dagegen die schwachen Akku-Laufzeiten. Beim Zocken hält das Asus-Notebook gerade mal 77 Minuten durch, im Office-Betrieb steigt der Wert auf 136 Minuten. Weitere Benchmark-Ergebnisse entnehmen Sie der nachfolgenden Tabelle.

G-Sync ist uns beim Testen allerdings kaum aufgefallen - selbst im direkten Vergleich mit einem Nicht-G-Sync-Modell. Auffällig ist, dass wir beim G751JY kein Ruckeln wahrnehmen konnten. Das mag teilweise an G-Sync liegen, den Großteil besorgt hier aber die leistungsstarke Hardware.

Einschätzung: Trotz vergleichsweise alter CPU rockt das Notebook[Anzeige] Laptop, Tablets und Co. direkt bei Microsoft kaufen und erfüllt bis Full-HD-Auflösung alle aktuellen Zocker-Bedürfnisse. G-Sync ist ein tolles Add-On, aber unserer Meinung nach kein Muss. Da vergleichbare Gaming-Notebooks aber ein ähnliches Preis-Niveau besitzen, kann man G-Sync durchaus mitnehmen.
Lohnt sich G-Sync oder nicht? Wen Tearing und Geruckel nervt und nicht gerade AMD-Fanboy ist, bekommt mit G-Sync eine ansprechende Anti-Ruckel-Technik, die - passende Komponenten vorausgesetzt - ohne großes Konfigurieren einfach funktioniert. Kurzum: G-Sync ist lohnenswert, sofern der Preis stimmt.

Genau hier fangen die Probleme an. Denn aktuell kosten Monitore mit G-Sync-Technik noch unverhältnismäßig mehr als baugleiche Modelle ohne das Modul. Einen Aufpreis zwischen 10 und 20 Prozent können wir ja noch akzeptieren – aber doppelte oder gar dreifache Kosten sind definitiv zu viel. Über die Preisgestaltung sollte Nvidia mit den Monitor-Herstellern also nochmal sprechen, denn so wird G-Sync ewig in der Nische bleiben.

Beim Notebook sieht die Sache etwas anders aus. Da die Preise hier ohnehin sehr schwanken, erscheint uns der Preis für das getestete Asus-Notebook als durchaus fair – trotz G-Sync-Upgrade. Wer auch per Gaming-Laptop auf einem externen Monitor zockt, hat aber natürlich keine besonderen Vorteile. Insofern glauben wir nicht, dass G-Sync in diesem Segment groß zur Kaufentscheidung beiträgt.
Die Ladezeiten des Akkus sind das leidige Thema bei vielen Smartphones. Es liegt nahe, das Gerät einfach über Nacht an die Steckdose anzuschließen. Dieses Verhalten aber ist grundfalsch. Darum sollten Sie Ihren Akku niemals auf 100 Prozent aufladen.
ist entscheidend. Aus der Klemmenspannung den Ladezustand zu ermittel, ist nicht genau genug. Gute BMS messen daher zusätzlich den hinein- und hinausfließenden Strom und berechnen daraus die theoretische(!) Kapazität, die der Akku jeweils noch hat. Das Ergebnis kann man sich als Grafik unter "Einstellungen" anschauen. Diese Bilanz kommt aber im Laufe der Zeit und nach vielen Zyklen aus dem Takt und liefert falsche Werte. Deshalb muss der Realzustand mit dem theoretischen Modell synchronisiert werden. Das geht nur! über den Entladladepunkt des Akkus, der mit einem deutlichen Absacken der Klemmenspannung einher geht, gut messbar ist und vom Sicherheitssystem als Kriterium zur Notabschaltung abgefangen wird. Ein Gegenstück für die Vollladung gibt es nicht, weswegen Überladung droht.
Man gibt den Telefoncode ein und der Sitznachbar schaut einem neugierig auf die Finger — eine Situation, die jeder kennt und jeden nervt. Ein Code soll den Zugriff aufs Gerät verwehren. Dabei ist es oftmals nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis der Erste die Kombination erfährt. Genau das soll „DroidLock" verhindern: Die App ändert das Passwort dynamisch und macht so das zufällige Aufschnappen der richtigen PIN unmöglich.

Nach der ersten Installation von DroidLock bedarf es der Erstellung eines Master-Passworts, das Zugang zu den entsprechenden Einstellungen gewährt sowie die Einrichtung als Geräteadministrator. Die App verwendet dabei die vom Betriebssystem vorgegebene Bildschirmsperre (ist also kein Lockscreen-Ersatz), ändert aber automatisch den PIN-Code nach einem vom Nutzer festgelegten System.

Dynamische PIN: Uhrzeit, Datum oder Akkustand

Ist DroidLock einmal aktiviert, richtet sich das Passwort unter anderem nach der Uhrzeit, dem Datum oder Akkustand. Das wäre natürlich nicht komplex genug, sodass noch weitere Unteroptionen zur Auswahl stehen. Wählt man beispielsweise die Uhrzeit als Code, kann zwischen 12-Stunden- und 24-Stunden-Format unterschieden werden. Bei Ersterem wäre das Passwort um 13:45 Uhr „0145", bei Letzterem „1345".

Hinsichtlich des Datums steht die internationale und US-amerikanische Variante zur Verfügung, optional kann auch die Jahreszahl angehängt werden. Der Code für den 4. Mai würde damit entweder „0405", „0504", „040516" oder „050416" lauten. Für noch mehr Dynamik kann auch der prozentuale Akkustand als Passwort dienen — 54 Prozent entsprechen dann zum Beispiel der PIN „5454". Noch komplexer wird es mit dem „Geek Mode": Hier kann eine Kombination aus Uhrzeit, Datum und Akkustand verwendet werden.

Denn wiederaufladbare Batterien wollen immer wieder aufgeladen werden. Deshalb ist es notwendig, diese Batterien regelmäßig gezielt schonend zu entladen und wieder zu beladen. Diesen Prozess nennt man Zyklisieren. Das bedeutet für die Lagerung von Ersatzbatterien einen hohen Betriebsaufwand. Ohne Zyklisierung droht mit der Zeit eine sogenannte Tiefenentladung. Im schlimmsten Fall kann diese Tiefenentladung einen Totalschaden der neuen Batterien zur Folge haben.

Mit dem Vibe K5 Plus präsentierte uns Lenovo auf dem Mobile World Congress ein äußerst günstiges Budget-Smartphone, das trotz seines vergleichsweise niedrigen Preises über das ein oder andere interessante Feature verfügt.Das FHD-Display des Vibe K5 Plus besitzt eine Bildschirmdiagonale von 5 Zoll, auf dem sich 1920 x 1080 Pixel darstellen lassen. Auch beim internen Speicher muss man sich mit dem heutzutage üblichen Minimum zufriedengeben, 16GB hat das Lenovo K5 verbaut. Diese sind teilweise vom vorinstallierten Betriebssystem Google Android 5.1 und diversen Apps belegt, lassen sich aber über einen Speicherkarten-Steckplatz erweitern. Die Schnittstelle kann microSD mit maximal 32 Gigabyte verwalten.

Dabei geht es nicht nur um Spielerei: Viele Exponate sollen den Nutzen der Technologie zeigen. Wenn ein virtueller Tyrannosaurus Tristan durch Halle 8 läuft, erschließt sich gleich der Nutzen von Augmented Reality, also der Ergänzung der Realität mit virtuellen Informationen. Und wenn Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) zeigt, wie man einen Menschen einscannt und dem Avatar virtuell Kleidung anprobiert, demonstriert der Konzern eine Technologie, die sich für den Online-Handel genauso eignet wie für Videokonferenzen.

So langsam beginnt sich der Begriff „Internet der Dinge", mit Inhalt zu füllen, auch wenn die Entwicklung noch am Anfang ist. The company says that the simplest way to avoid any issues with the battery is to use the laptop with its AC charger plugged in all the time. The issue only appears only when the laptop is functioning on pure battery power alone.Users that are affected by this recall will receive a new battery for free. A normal replacement battery of this type costs between $70 and $130.If you’re a Toshiba laptop user, beware as your laptop battery may melt and cause you some serious injury. We aren’t kidding as the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has made a public recall announcement, which warns around 91,000 users in the USA and about 10,000 in Canada.

According to this recall, there is an issue with the lithium-ion batteries which have been installed in the Satellite, Tecra and Portege models of the Toshiba laptops. Panasonic is the manufacturer of these batteries and this issue affects the laptops which have been sold in the US and Canada between June 2011 to January 2016. These laptops have been manufactured in Japan and China and have been sold through Toshibadirect.com, various online websites as well as electronic stores.

Reports suggest that these laptop batteries can overheat to the extent of melting and thus have a potential to cause injury to the users. Four such cases have already been reported.Toshiba has said that 39 laptop models may be affected by this issue. The company has provided a web page where users can check whether their laptop suffers from this issue or not. An automated tool has also been provided which obtains the serial and part number of the laptop along with its battery and will tell the user, whether their laptop is included in the recall or not. Manual verification steps have also been provided but users will need to open up their laptops for that.

According to Toshiba, all the battery part numbers that begin with G71C (G71C*******) suffer from this issue and thus have been recalled. Toshiba has advised users to use the laptop with its AC charger plugged in all the time to prevent any mishap till the battery gets replaced. This issue only appears when the laptop is working solely on battery’s power.This issue may even appear in Laptops which had their batteries replaced during this period with the affected models, so please be cautious and check carefully. The affected users will get their batteries replaced with a new one for free. Normally a new battery replacement costs between $70 and $130.

The risk is, however, higher for old or used batteries with reduced capacities.According to the paper, the potential privacy issues of the Battery Status API have been discussed as early as 2012, but the API was not revised to alleviate them.The issue is extremely easy to fix, researchers argue: Just make the battery readings less precise. By rounding the values down, none of the functionality would be lost, but it would be nearly impossible to track a user down.

Um neugierigen Blicken das Entdecken des Codes völlig unmöglich zu machen, gibt es per In-App-Kauf sogar noch mehr Optionen: So kann der PIN gedoppelt, gespiegelt, summiert oder auch umgekehrt werden. Für Hobby-Mathematiker gibt es gar die Möglichkeit, die Differenz oder einen vorher festgelegten Zahlenabstand zwischen Variablen als dynamischen PIN festzulegen. Die Preise reichen hier bis zu 3,64 Euro für die Aktivierung aller Zusatzoptionen und Themes für DroidLock – ein Preis, der sich angesichts des Funktionsumfangs und dem Nutzen der App durchaus lohnt.

Bisher befindet sich DroidLock in der Beta-Phase, Bugs sind daher nicht ausgeschlossen. Wir haben die App auf zwei Geräten getestet, dabei funktionierte die dynamische Passwortvergabe in beiden Fällen hervorragend und ohne Verzögerungen. Beim OPPO R7 Plus mit CyanogenMod 13 ließ sich der Fingerabdrucksensor im Anschluss allerdings nicht mehr verwenden, sodass stets der Code eingegeben werden musste.

Das OnePlus 2 dagegen konnte weiterhin alternativ per Sensor entsperrt werden. Die Entwickler konnten DroidLock bereits auf Nexus-, OnePlus-, Motorola-, Samsung-, Sony- und Xiaomi-Smartphones testen — hier sollte die Anwendung also problemlos funktionieren. Sollte die dynamische PIN nicht funktionieren, kann das Smartphone nach einem Neustart auch mit dem Master-PIN entsperrt werden. Sollte man diesen vergessen haben, so wird er nach Beantwortung einer Sicherheitsfrage an die bei der Einrichtung festgelegte E-Mail geschickt.

Im Play Store ist die App noch nicht verfügbar, daher muss die APK-Datei manuell heruntergeladen und installiert werden. Dazu kann es erforderlich sein, in den Einstellungen die Installation von Apps aus „unbekannter Herkunft" beziehungsweise „unsicheren Quellen" zu aktivieren.Sollte man DroidLock doch wieder deinstallieren wollen, muss ein kleiner Umweg gegangen werden: In einem ersten Schritt muss die App in den Einstellungen unter „Sicherheit" und „Geräteadministratoren" deaktiviert werden. Anschließend kann DroidLock unter „Apps" normal deinstalliert werden.

Archos erweitert sein Sortiment bei den günstigen LTE-Smartphones bis 150 Euro um das Modell Archos 50 Power. Der Name ist Programm. Zumindest was den Akku angeht. In vielen Elektronikgeräten, wie Notebooks, Smartphones und Tablets, sowie den Antriebsbatterien für Autos stecken Lithium-Ionen-Akkus zur Energieversorgung. Das hierfür notwendige Kobalt wird laut einem Bericht von Amnesty International in Minen im Kongo schon von Kindern ab sieben Jahren unter lebensgefährlichen Bedingungen abgebaut.

Laut dem heute veröffentlichten Bericht von Amnesty International und Afrewatch steckt demnach in vielen Produkten bedeutender globaler Hersteller Kinderarbeit aus den Kobaltminen im Kongo. "Die Elektronikkonzerne nutzen Kobalt für die Akkus ihrer Smartphones, Tablets und Laptops, also in Geräten, die aus unserem Verbraucheralltag nicht mehr wegzudenken sind", sagt Verena Haan, Expertin für Wirtschaft und Menschenrechte bei Amnesty International in Deutschland.

Laut Amnesty International wird in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo mehr als die Hälfte des weltweiten Kobalts gewonnen. Dort riskieren auch Kinder im Kleinstbergbau ohne Schutzkleidung täglich Gesundheit und Leben. Allein im Südkongo starben gemäß dem Bericht zwischen September 2014 und Dezember 2015 mindestens 80 Bergleute. Offenbar sind die großen Weltkonzerne nicht bereit nachzuvollziehen, woher wichtige Materialien in ihren Produktionsketten stammen, so Amnesty International.

Gemäß dem Bericht kauft auch die Tochterfirma CDM (Congo Dongfang Mining) des chinesischen Konzerns Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt die wichtigen Mineralien aus diesen Kobaltminen im Süden des Landes. Beliefert werden dann die drei Akkuhersteller Ningbo Shanshan als Tochterunternehmen der Toda Hunan Shanshan New Material und Tianjin Bamo Technology, beide aus China und die L&F Material Co.Ltd. (Südkorea).

Insgesamt listet Amnesty International 16 multinationale Unternehmen, die Lithium-Ionen-Akkus verwenden, in denen Kinderarbeit aus dem Kongo steckt: Ahong, Apple, BYD, Daimler, Dell, HP, Huawei, Inventec, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, Vodafone, Volkswagen und ZTE.

Das Matebook war wohl eines der am schlechtesten gehüteten Geheimnisse des Mobile World Congress. Lange vor der offiziellen Präsentation wurde im Netz über das Gerät spekuliert. Immerhin ist es das erste Mal, dass Huawei sich von seinem Kerngeschäft, den Smartphones, in den Notebookbereich wagt.

Der Grund für dieses Wagnis ist schnell gefunden. Zum einen kennt sich das chinesische Unternehmen mit Smartphones und Tablets aus. Ein neues Modell zu entwickeln, auf dem Windows 10 läuft und das sich mit einem Stift bedienen lässt, dürfte für die Entwickler keine allzu große Herausforderung gewesen sein.

Dazu kommt, dass Microsofts Windows 10 von vielen Anwendern positiv bewertet wird. Wer mit dem Umstieg auf das ungewohnte Windows 8 gehadert hat, lässt sich leicht zum Wechsel auf das aktuelle Windows bewegen. Microsoft hat es in Windows 10 geschafft, Extras, die in Windows 8 für Tablets eingebaut wurden, mit vielen Eigenschaften und Funktionen zu verbinden, die man von Windows 7 gewöhnt war.

Vor allem aber haben 2-in-1-Geräte gerade Rückenwind. Während der Tablet-Markt stagniert und der PC-Markt schrumpft, interessieren sich immer mehr Käufer für die neuartigen Geräte, die man sowohl als Tablet als auch als Notebook verwenden kann. Zweistellige Zuwachsraten versprechen gute Gewinnaussichten.Das haben längst auch die Großen gemerkt und sich ihre Nischen im Markt gesucht. Microsoft vermarktet so seit Jahren seine Surface-Tablets und nun auch das Surface Book.

Apple hat dafür sein iPad Pro entwickelt. Eigentlich ist es ein Tablet, aber mit anklickbaren Tastaturen wird es schnell zum 2-in1.
Im Gegensatz zu Notebooks: Schön leichtGenau das will Huawei mit seinem Matebook jetzt auch und setzt - wie Apple und Microsoft - auf zahlungskräftige Business-Kunden. Denen könnte durchaus gefallen, was Huawei da zusammengestellt hat: Mit seinem 12-Zoll-Bildschirm und 2160 x 1440 Pixeln Auflösung hat es ein 4:3-Format, das auch bei Notebooks im beruflichen Bereich populär ist.

Im Gegensatz zu Notebooks ist es allerdings sehr leicht. 640 Gramm bringt das Tablet allein auf die Waage, zusammen mit der 149 Euro teuren Tastaturhülle ist es etwas schwerer. Beim Ausprobieren auf dem Mobile World Congress machte aber auch diese Kombination noch einen sehr gut tragbaren und stabilen Eindruck. Ohnehin scheint sich die Tastatur auch für Vielschreiber gut zu eignen, hat einen relativ weichen, klar definierten Anschlag. Und sie ist wasserabweisend. Sie geht also nicht gleich kaputt, wenn man seinen Kaffee darüber verschüttet.

Das 13,3 Zoll große MacBook Pro bietet indes ebenfalls zwei USB-3.0-Ports, zweimal Thunderbolt, einen HDMI-Anschluss, Klinke und einen SD-Kartenleser. Der MagSafe-Anschluss dient zum Laden des MacBook Pro. Das Magnesium-Gehäuse ist, im Vergleich zum Surface Book, jedoch nicht keilförmig angelegt. An der dicksten Stelle misst es daher auch nur 1,8 cm. Die Breite beträgt 31,4 cm, die Tiefe 21,9 cm. Mit 1,58 Kilogramm ist das MacBook Pro zudem einen Tick schwerer.

Fazit Abmessungen & Anschlüsse
Wie schon beim Display entscheidet hier die persönliche Präferenz. Uns gefällt das gleichmäßig flache Design des MacBook Pro sehr gut; aber auch die Keilform hat Vorteile. Die Anschlussvielfalt ist beim MacBook Pro einen Tick besser - die Thunderbolt-Port sind vielfältig nutzbar, zudem ist HDMI stärker verbreitet als DisplayPort. Per Adapter, der zusätzlich kostet, lässt sich der kleine Malus des Surface Book aber leicht ausmerzen.

Das Surface Book können Sie, wie auch das MacBook Pro, umfangreich konfigurieren. Vom Prozessor über den Arbeitsspeicher bis hin zur Größe der SSD - preislich gibt es kaum Obergrenzen. Zwei Book-Konfigurationen kommen ohne Nvidia-GPU und unterscheiden sich bei der SSD. Hier haben Sie die Wahl zwischen 128 oder 256 GByte Speicherplatz. Ab 1.900 US-Dollar kommt die Nvidia Geforce 520, eine Einsteiger-GPU, hinzu. Legen Sie Wert auf einen Core i7 legen sind mindestens 2.100 US-Dollar fällig, wobei eine 256-GByte-SSD zum Standard gehört. In der 2.700 US-Dollar teuren Luxus-Variante gibt es einen Core i7, 16 GByte Arbeitsspeicher und eine 512 GByte große SSD. Microsoft spricht zudem von einer Konfiguration mit einer 1-TByte-SSD - vermutlich wird diese aber nur auf Bestellung gefertigt oder zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt angeboten.

Ebenso macht der Bildschirm einen guten Eindruck, ist sehr hell und kontrastreich. Die hohe Auflösung sorgt dafür, dass auch feine Details gut dargestellt werden. Einen Stift, wie ihn Microsoft mit seinen Geräten liefert, gibt es nur als Zubehör. Dasselbe gilt für die Dockingstation, die neben HDMI und VGA auch mehrere USB-Anschlüsse und eine Netzwerkbuchse bereitstellt.Im Bundle mit dem Stift kostet sie 149 Euro. Das Tastaturcover schlägt mit weiteren 149 Euro zu Buche. Für das Komplettpaket mit Tastatur, Dockingstation und Stift muss man also immer knapp 300 Euro Aufschlag kalkulieren. Das Matebook selbst kostet in der günstigsten Version mit 128 GB Speicher und Intel M3-Prozessor 799 Euro. Die Luxusversion mit M7-Prozessor und 512 GB Speicher wird 1799 Euro kosten, soll aber erst später auf den deutschen Markt kommen.

Ein richtiges Sonderangebot ist das Matebook von Huawei damit nicht. Für Windows-Anwender könnte es aber eine Alternative zum sehr teuren Surface Book sein.Wie hält man Batterien für Elektroautos im Ersatzteillager frisch? Indem man sie bis zum Verkauf benutzt. Mit dieser Idee will Daimler nun Geld verdienen. Gemeinsam mit den Stadtwerken Hannover baut der Autohersteller einen Energiespeicher, der Netzschwankungen ausgleichen soll. Später sollen die Batterien dann E-Smarts mit Energie versorgen.

3000 nagelneue Ersatzakkus für den E-Smart werden in Hannover zu einem Energiespeicher zusammengeschaltet. Der Sinn: Liegen die neuen Akkus im Ersatzteillager, würden sie unter Leistungseinbußen leiden. Durch die Nutzung als Speicher zum Ausgleich von Netzschwankungen bleiben sie dagegen leistungsfähig.
Das nennt man eine klassische Win-Win-Situation, die sich die Daimler-Tochter Accumotive und Enercity, Tochter der Stadtwerke Hannover, ausgedacht haben: In diesem Jahr beginnt der Bau eines Energiespeichers, der aus 3000 Akkus für den E-Smart besteht. Er wird eine Speicherkapazität von 15 MWh. „Diese 3000 Module verdienen Geld als Ersatzteillager", freut sich Daimler-Manager Harald Kröger. Es ist eine ziemlich gute Idee und auch zugleich eine Weltpremiere. Bis heute kommen allenfalls gebrauchte Batterien aus Elektroautos für Stationärspeicher zum Einsatz.

In Hannover werden dagegen völlig neue Batterien eingesetzt. Daimler muss die Batterien vorhalten für den Fall, dass Akkus in den Elektro-Smarts ausgetauscht werden müssen. Liegen die Akkus aber ungenutzt im Ersatzteillager, büßen sie massiv an Leistung ein. Nicht so, wenn sie genutzt werden. „Das hat keine Auswirkungen auf den Alterungsprozess, sondern wirkt im Gegenteil wie ein Jungbrunnen", betont Kröger.
