The ThinkPad E560 I reviewed costs $988 and includes a 2.5-GHz Intel Core i7-6500U CPU, a 192GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, AMD Radeon R7 M370 graphics with 2GB of VRAM, a 1080p display and a fingerprint reader.Lenovo ThinkPad E560The $521 base model has an Intel Core i3-6100U processor; a 500GB, 7,200-rpm HDD; a 1366 x 768 display, 4GB of RAM and integrated Intel HD 520 graphics. It doesn't include a fingerprint reader. To get the best mix of value and performance, I recommend configuring the E560 with a Core i5-6200U CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 1080p display and either a 192GB SSD (which brings the total to $800) or a 256GB SSD (which makes the final price $881). You can choose whether you want the fingerprint reader, but it's a difference of $20. Most users won't need the discrete graphics card.
The Lenovo ThinkPad E560 is a worthwhile business notebook with a comfortable keyboard, long battery life and fairly good performance. However, it does have some trade-offs: It has a relatively dim screen with dull colors, and it's not MIL-SPEC tested against drops and extreme temperatures.
If you can spend a little more and don't mind a bit more weight, the Dell Latitude E5570 (starts at $769) is a strong alternative with a durable MIL-SPEC-tested chassis. However, you'll have to pay a hefty price to upgrade it to a1080p display and an SSD. But if you want a solid typing experience and a battery that will power through commutes and meetings, the ThinkPad E560 will get the job done.
Battery life is one of the most important features in a laptop. Often enough, we choose to buy a laptop over a desktop computer because of the former’s portability, which is represented by battery life among other features. If no sockets are available, a laptop with an excellent battery life can be a life-saver. Speaking of which, you can check out this article on the best battery life laptops, if this a major purchasing criterion for you.

the number of tabs opened: we all tend to open tens of browsers when we are looking for a particular information. When we find it, we focus on two or three tabs, but we don’t close the others.
Opera took all these elements into account, and released a dedicated power saving browser version to its developer channel. According to the company, this browser named "Opera 39†extends your battery life by up to 50% compared to Google Chrome. Until this browser lands to mainstream usage, you can also use a few tricks to extend your laptop’s battery life, such as setting up a power saving plan among other things.

Opera 39 pops-up a battery icon next to the address field when the laptop’s power cable is unplugged. All you have to do is click on the battery icon to activate the power saving mode. If you forget to do that, the browser will suggest you to enable this feature when your the remaining battery capacity reaches the 20% threshold.Could this battery saving feature help Opera to dethrone Google Chrome and become the most popular browser in the world? According to PC Gamer, Nvidia is planning to release versions of its top-end 1000-series graphics cards that will work in gaming laptops. These aren’t some pansy, watered-down "M†version either: they’ll be the same chips as the desktop-grade 1080 and 1070, running at slightly lower power. In other words, desktop-level graphics performance in a portable, battery-powered device. That would be big.
There’s currently a huge difference between the desktop and laptop (‘M’) version of Nvidia’s chips. Desktop graphics cards normally draw 200-300 watts of power, take up space, and throw off huge amounts of heat. Because of that, there’s never been a laptop-compatible graphics card that can play with the big boys. Last year, Nvidia tried to get around that by cramming a full-size GTX 980 into 17-inch laptops, but the result wasn’t particularly pretty. Or affordable.
But with the 1000-series, fitting the desktop card into a (slightly thick) laptop is much more plausible. The TDP of the GTX 1080 is just 180W, and the 1070 is 150W. That’s way down from the 250W TDP of the GTX 980, and low enough to fit into a laptop. According to PC Gamer‘s sources, Nvidia will be tweaking voltages and core clock speeds somewhat, most likely to have a lower base clock, but a ‘turbo’ mode capable of boosting up to full power when necessary.
It’s going to be interesting to see the details of this play out. Gaming laptops are mostly a running joke among serious gamers, because you can’t upgrade them, the graphics sucks comparatively, and they get hot enough to fry an egg (or your testicles). Bringing the full-fat desktop cards to laptops would hopefully fix all of that, although the heat problems may still need some work. Water-cooled laptop, anyone?Wireless charging company WiTricity may not be a household name, but that could change once Dell laptops start launching with its technology.Dell laptops that started charging wirelessly the moment they were placed on a charging mat made an appearance at WiTricity's show suite at Computex 2016 here in Taipei. WiTricity declined to comment on when these Dell laptops will be available.

Unlike other current wireless charging standards, such as Qi which requires you to accurately place charging coils on top of another, WiTricity's tech generates a very safe magnetic field (using a smartphone is supposedly 100 times more dangerous) that transmits the electricity wirelessly. In the case of the above mentioned Dell laptops, WiTricity says about 30W of power were being transmitted to the laptops, allowing you to quickly charge the battery.WiTricity CEO Alex Gruzen told CNET the company's tech allows it to accurately shape the magnetic field, which is capable of going through materials such as wood or marble, allowing its wireless charging technology to be used in kitchen table tops and letting more than one device to be charged at a time.
Another use of WiTricity can be found in the military. Batteries that used to be on soldier's helmets for night vision goggles have been removed and WiTricity tech in backpacks are used to power the helmets wirelessly. The backpacks' batteries are then charged when soldiers sit in down in a Humvee while being transported. This sounds pretty cool, and similar commercial applications of the tech could be forthcoming too. Unless battery technology improves in the near future, WiTricity's wireless charging could be the new normal to easily top up your devices without having to bother about wires each time.
Riding on the latest "hybrid†trend in tablets, Samsung has forged ahead with its two-in-one offerings by bringing the TabPro line, previously running on the Android OS, into Windows 10 territory.
This tablet is very slim yet feels weighty on the hand. That’s probably because you expect something that is 7.9mm thick will be extremely light.
With a substantial 12-inch display and a battery rated to last 10 hours, its 693 grams weight is excusable. The body – a mix of polycarbonate, metallic frame, and glass – feels sturdy. But being a large but thin device, it also flexes easily, with the weakest point being the middle of the device. It is a genuine cause for concern, as the folio style keyboard case that comes with it isn’t meant to provide any additional protection.
With the Samsung Flow, I can respond to all my messages (including WhatsApp) and see every single notification in the Windows setting.
