De Pi heeft al geleid tot de ontwikkeling van monitoren, camera's, kasten, softwaretools en uitbreidingskaarten om de bruikbaarheid van de computer te verbeteren. APlus Mobile wil de bruikbaarheid van Raspberry Pi vergroten zodat het systemen voor woningen, auto's, en apparaten kan bedienen via een uitbreidingskaart, MotherBone PiOn genaamd. De uitbreidingskaart heeft het vermogensrelais, de pins, poorten, en firmware functies die Raspberry Pi relevant zou kunnen maken voor grotere elektronica.APlus Mobile gebruikt Kickstarter om geld te verzamelen voor de ontwikkeling van de MotherBone PiOne, die naar verwachting tussen de 200 en de 250 dollar zal gaan kosten. Als APlus er niet in slaagt om het project te financieren door middel van crowdfunding, zal het toch in de verkoop gaan, zei Amy Ciesielka, eigenaar van APlus Mobile, in een e-mail. Ouderwets inbellen om te kunnen internetten: het bestaat nog. De Amerikaanse provider AOL verdient er nog flink geld mee ook! Bijna 2,5 miljoen Amerikanen hebben geen andere optie dan inbellen en betalen steeds hogere tarieven. En dat zal nog wel een jaartje of vijf zo zijn, meldt BGR, maar eindelijk is het einde in zicht. Na jarenlang te zijn uitgeknepen tot op het bot mogen 2,42 miljoen Amerikanen nu hopen op licht aan het einde van de tunnel.Analisten en aandeelhouders klagen al enige tijd dat een te groot deel van het inkomen van AOL bestaat uit het geld dat het uit de zakken van dialup-klanten hengelt. De marges erop zijn enorm hoog en AOL kan zijn 2,42 miljoen inbelklanten vragen wat het wil. Telkens wordt het abonnementsgeld verhoogd en dat kan straffeloos omdat de klanten nergens anders heen kunnen: er is geen alternatief voor dialup in de afgelegen gebieden van de Verenigde Staten.

Gemiddeld haalt AOL bijna 20 dollar per maand uit zijn inbelklanten, volgens onderstaande tabel van Quartz. Dat levert een operationele winst op van 138 miljoen dollar. Dat wordt door geen enkele andere dienst van AOL geëvenaard.Wel wordt door onderzoeker Jan Dawson van Jackdaw Research gezegd dat als de daling van het aantal inbelklanten (per jaar 9 procent minder) doorzet, de winst over 5 jaar niet meer voldoende is, schrijft BGR. Dat betekent dat AOL naar een nieuwe melkkoe moet zoeken. Die nog nergens in zicht is, vindt Quartz.De winst die AOL haalt op zijn inbelklanten wordt overigens gebruikt om websites als onder meer TechCrunch en The Huffington Post overeind te houden.De Windows 8.1 Update is onlangs openbaar gemaakt, en biedt allerlei nieuwe functies voor traditionele pc-gebruikers. Maar één ding dat het biedt is het nieuwe Startmenu dat Microsoft onlangs onthuld heeft - die zal over een paar maanden in een latere update verschijnen.

Maar Windows 8.1 heeft al een soort Startmenu dat je tevoorschijn kunt halen door met de rechtermuisknop op de Startknop in de linkeronderhoek te klikken. Dit staat bekend als een menu voor 'power users', maar het is een populaire manier om snel de pc af te sluiten omdat het veel eenvoudiger is dan op de Settings-charm te klikken.Maar je kunt met dit menu veel meer dan alleen je computer afsluiten. Hier zijn drie functies die elke Windows 8.1-gebruiker zou moeten kennen.Bovenaan het power user menu staat een optie met de naam Programs and Features, waarmee je direct toegang krijgt tot het Control Panel om programma's te verwijderen.Vergeet niet dat deze optie alleen werkt voor desktop-apps. Als je een moderne gebruikersinterface app wilt verwijderen, klik dan met de rechtermuisknop op de app en selecteer Uninstall.De traditionele manier om bij de Task Manager te komen is door op Ctrl+Alt+Delete te drukken. Maar door de jaren heen heeft Microsoft deze optie van alleen een sneltoets naar een volledig menu omgetoverd met andere opties zoals het afsluiten of vergrendelen van je pc.

Dus een iets snellere manier om bij de Task Manager te komen is deze via het power user menu te benaderen. Van hieruit kun je snel zien welke app al je processorkracht in beslag neemt of een niet reagerende app afsluiten.Meteen onder de Task Manager staat een optie om het Control Panel te openen. Het lijkt alsof er duizend manieren zijn om in Windows 8.1 het Control Panel te openen, waaronder via de Settings charm, de desktopweergave in File Explorer, en het All Apps scherm.Wat mij betreft is de snelste manier om er te komen met de rechtermuisknop klikken op de Start knop (of druk op de Windows toets + X als je echt chique wilt doen).Het enige wat nog sneller zou zijn is het Control Panel aan de taakbalk vast te pinnen.Nadat je eraan gewend bent geraakt om deze drie opties via het power user menu te benaderen zijn er hopen andere opties die je misschien handig vindt, waaronder energie instellingen, systeeminformatie, netwerkverbindingen, en de Windows PowerShell, om er maar een paar te noemen. DuckDuckGo beschermt je privacy op het web en zorgt ervoor dat bedrijven jouw surfgedrag op het web niet volgen. De zoekmachine stelt de anonimiteit van de gebruiker voorop en kan sinds de lancering van de nieuwe bètaversie ook beelden, producten en video's vinden.

De privacybescherming die DuckDuckGo probeert te bieden schuilt zich in de naam. 'Duck ,duck, Go!', wegduiken en gaan. Dat wordt vormgegeven met een vrolijke snavel die sinds kort dus ook het web afspeurt naar beeld en video. Dat kon voorheen ook al, maar ging via Google en Bing. De privacy was daar dus ver te zoeken. Zoekmachine DuckDuckGo heeft wel moeite om gevonden items te ordenen. Het is daarom maar net wat je belangrijk vindt om te bepalen welke zoekmachine je gebuikt. Je gaat voor privacy of gebruiksgemak.DuckDuckGo speelt in op privacy en dat zie je terug als je de add-on hebt geïnstalleerd op je webbrowser of opent via het web. Op de pagina van de zoekmachine zie je naast de zoekbalk een klein rood blokje met Meer erop staan. Als je deze aanklikt en je gaat naar Instellingen dan valt meteen op dat alle opties op default staan. De machine geeft dus geen informatie over vanaf waar je het internet bezoekt, waar je naar zoeken via welk ip-adres je er bent gekomen. Je kunt die instellingen aanpassen naar eigen wens, dit was met de Epic Privacy Browser wel anders. Je geeft zo wel deels je identiteit prijs.

Nieuw in de zoekmachine van DuckDuckGo is dat je zoektermen ook aan foto's en video's op het web worden gelinkt. Je krijgt een overzicht te zien van gerelateerde beeldbestanden die op willekeur direct onder de zoekmachine te vinden zijn. Je kunt daarbij van links naar rechts gaan om door de bestanden te zoeken. Het nadeel hier is ook dat DuckDuckGo minder gerangschikt kan zoeken dan Google of Bing, omdat ze je gegevens niet opslaan en bijhouden.Dat neemt niet weg dat je nu ook in privacy bepaalde zoektermen kunt gebruiken om afbeeldingen te vinden, iets wat voor sommigen een zeer welkome toevoeging zal zijn. Het is alleen onduidelijk waarom er niet elke keer foto's verschijnen bij een zoekopdracht, soms gebeurt dit gewoon niet.Het voordeel van DuckDuckGo is dat deze zoekmachine je vrij laat in wat jij belangrijk vindt. Add-ons worden ondersteund, maar je kunt ook bij gebrek aan goede zoekresultaten via DuckDuckGo zoeken in Bing of Google. Als je op zoek bent naar producten, dan kan het ook bij bijvoorbeeld Amazon.com. Dit doe je door naar het blauwe icoontje met neerwaartse pijltje te drukken. Deze vind je direct rechts van de zoekbalk.Niet gevonden wat je zocht? Zoek dan eenmalig via andere zoekmachines.

Met DuckDuckGo bepaal je zelf de mate van privacy die je wilt hanteren en je kunt op de privacybeschermende zoekmachine afstellen naar jouw wens. Dit is althans als je geen gebruikmaakt van het oude internet Explorer 8, want daarvoor is de bètaversie nog niet geschikt. De zoekmachine is compatibel als add-on voor Google Chrome, Firefox en Internet Explorer en kan als app gebruikt worden voor Windows Phone, iPhone, Android-smartphone, iPad en Android-tablet.Cybercriminelen kunnen het beste hun pijlen richten op vrouwen. Die updaten niet of nauwelijks hun virusscanner of securitysuite en surfen onbekommerd op het internet. Aan de andere kant hebben vrouwen wel meer zelfkennis: slechts 10 procent denkt voldoende kennis te hebben over online bedreigingen en bescherming hiertegen, zegt Kaspersky Labs, die onderzoeker MediaTest de beide seksen aan een stel vragen onderwierp om duidelijkheid te krijgen over de verschillen tussen man en vrouw.Het onderzoek is gehouden onder 2000 Nederlandse en Belgische mannen en vrouwen die frequent het internet gebruiken. de conclusie is: mannen wapenen zich beter tegen cybercriminaliteit dan vrouwen. Verder bleek dat het grootste deel van de beide seksen beveiligingssoftware gebruikt, maar dat vrouwen nogal nalatig zijn in het updaten ervan.

Opvallend is dat vrouwen het gevaar op de smnartphone hoger inschatten dan mannen, maar dat de risico's op de pc en tablets worden onderschat. Maar, zo zegt Kaspersky, vrouwen "zijn er over het algemeen goed van op de hoogte dat ze niet goed op de hoogte zijn."Zolang als ik me kan herinneren heeft geen enkele versie van Windows ooit standaard bestanden als documenten en spreadsheets op het bureaublad opgeslagen. En sinds XP is het ook niet bepaald een veilige plek om ze op te slaan. Toch kunnen sommige mensen de verleiding niet weerstaan. Er zijn goede redenen om bestanden niet op het bureaublad op te slaan. Om te beginnen is het lastig te ordenen. Hoewel je bestanden op het bureaublad op naam en datum kunt sorteren, kun je ze niet op een tweede criterium groeperen. En het kan overweldigend druk worden, iets wat niet het geval is met een groepeerbare, doorzoekbare map.En er staan bijna altijd applicatievensters voor, waardoor een deel van je bestanden niet te zien zijn. Je kunt natuurlijk altijd die vensters verbergen of minimaliseren, maar daardoor krijg je wel een extra laag met gedoe.Het belangrijkste is, dat bestanden op het bureaublad niet zo goed beschermd zijn als bestanden in libraries zoals My Documents en My Pictures. Als je bijvoorbeeld System Restore gebruikt om Windows te herstellen naar de staat van afgelopen woensdag, dan zal deze functie alle bestanden die na deze datum aan het bureaublad zijn toegevoegd verwijderen. De bestanden in My Documents zullen echter onaangeroerd blijven.

Bovendien back-uppen veel back-up programma's niet standaard het bureaublad. Je kunt dat natuurlijk ergens in de instellingen van je back-up programma veranderen.Als je toch naar het bureaublad wilt back-uppen zul je Windows een beetje aan moeten passen om het veiliger te maken - en handiger.Ten eerste zul je het bureaublad aan de Documents library moeten toevoegen. Dit beschermt het bureaublad tegen veranderingen door System Restore en mogelijk wordt het bureaublad ook aan back-ups toegevoegd. Zo stel je het in:In het Library gedeelte van Windows Explorer (File Explorer in Windows , klik met de rechtermuisknop op Documents en selecteer Properties.Klik in het dialogvenster op de optie Include a folder en selecteer het bureaublad. Je kunt het bijna bovenaan in het Navigation paneel vinden, onder Favorites.Als je wilt dat programma's standaard naar het bureaublad opslaan, selecteer Desktop in de Library locations lijst en klik op Set save location. Op die manier zal het bureaublad de eerste plek zijn waar een programma je document, spreadsheet, of alles wat geen foto, video, of muziekbestand is probeert op te slaan. Symantec wil stoppen met antivirus-oplossingen want het levert geen geld meer op. Volgens de antivirusmaker wordt nog niet de helft van de aanvallen gestopt en schiet het dus niet op. Dat is weer eens een ander geluid. In een artikel bij The Wall Street Journal zegt de chef informatiebeveiliging van Symantec, Brian Dye, dat het leveren van antivirusoplossingen geen geld meer opbrengt, en het wat hem betreft "dood" is.

Tegenwoordig stopt een AV-oplossing slechts 45 procent van alle aanvallen op computersystemen en dat schiet dus niet op. Volgens Dye heeft een AV-product voor een individuele consumentencomputer nog wel zin "omdat het ook spam tegenhoudt" en nog wat andere voordelen met zich meeneemt.Dat Symantec ermee wil stoppen is een schok, vooral aangezien het beveiligen van gebruikers-pc's nog steeds 40 procent van de omzet uitmaakt. Maar het bedrijf wil zich richten op de zakelijke markt met Security as a Service, waarmee vooral wordt gereageerd op aanvallen door ze on the fly te bestrijden, data te beschermen en de aanvaller te lokaliseren.Symantec is een laatkomer in die markt, zegt Dye, maar beter laat dan nooit. "Het is uiteindelijk het beste om toch deel te nemen aan het spel waarin je allang actief had moeten zijn", zegt hij tegen de WSJ.Maar volgens andere leveranciers maakt Symantec nu wel een hoop lawaai maar lopen ze gewoon achter. "AV op zich is niet langer genoeg en AV-leveranciers hebben daar niet goed op ingespeeld", zegt Jerome Segura van Malwarebytes tegen de International Business Times. "Er zijn daarnaast zoveel spelers in de markt dat geld verdienen steeds moeilijker wordt."Maar een van die AV-leveranciers, McAfee, vindt dat AV-producten nog steeds belangrijk zijn. "Het is toch een portier bij de deur", zegt Raj Samani van McAfee. Volgens hem kan een AV-product veel tegenhouden en is daar ook goed in, maar die producten zijn niet bedoeld om alle bedreigingen buiten te houden. "Als Symantec bedoelt te zeggen dat de dagen zijn geteld voor AV-software als zelfstandig product, dan hebben ze daar gelijk in."

Maar er is meer. Start je hier de Mini Windows XP-omgeving op en open je vervolgens HBCD Menu / Programs, dan tref je in de rubrieken System Information en Testing heel wat test- en diagnosetools aan, waaronder de al eerder genoemde HD Tune, PC Wizard en Prime95.Shuttle kennen we vooral van compacte computersystemen, maar de fabrikant heeft ook een NAS in het assortiment. Met de KD21 en KD22 komt Shuttle met twee opvolgers van hun eerste NAS. Deze twee NAS-apparaten verschillen met uitzondering van een wifi-mogelijkheid weinig van elkaar.Dat Shuttle ervaring heeft met computerbehuizingen blijkt uit zowel de KD21 als KD22. Beide NAS-apparaten zijn gemaakt van stevig aluminium en mooi afgewerkt. De goedkopere KD21 is alleen in wit leverbaar, de duurdere KD22 alleen in zwart. In vergelijking tot de voorganger KD20 heeft Shuttle de installatie verder vereenvoudigd. Deze installatie gebeurt vrijwel helemaal via de webinterface van de NAS en is keurig vertaald naar het Nederlands.Zowel de KD21 als de KD22 biedt plek aan maximaal twee harde schijven die behalve als losse schijven ook als JBOD, RAID0 of RAID1 geconfigureerd kunnen worden. De functionaliteit van de beide NAS-apparaten is identiek, behalve dat de KD22 opties heeft voor het gebruik als wifi-accesspoint. De KD22 kan een eigen draadloos netwerk in de lucht brengen en zo smartphones, tablets en pc's draadloos verbinden met het netwerk. Er is ondersteuning voor 802.11b/g/n op 2,4 GHz met een maximale snelheid van 54 Mbit/s. Doordat het accesspoint zich niet laat uitschakelen, is de aanwezigheid ervan al snel eerder een nadeel dan een voordeel.

Beide NAS'en beschikken over een Twonky-mediaserver voor het streamen van beeld en geluid, een bittorrent-downloader, printserver, ftp-server en de mogelijkheid bestanden die op een aangesloten usb-geheugenstick of camera zijn geplaatst automatisch naar de NAS over te zetten. De functionaliteit van KD21 en KD22 is verder beperkt en is ook niet uit te breiden.Voor een groot deel van de NAS-gebruikers zal de functionaliteit echter voldoen. Of dat ook voor u geldt, hangt ook af van de behoefte aan geavanceerde opties per functie, want ook die zijn beperkt gehouden. Zo kunnen gebruikers bijvoorbeeld niet in groepen worden geplaatst en beheerd. Voor toegang via het internet biedt Shuttle apps voor Android en iOS waarmee onder meer bestanden geüpload en mediabestanden gestreamd kunnen worden.Omdat de extra wifi-functionaliteit van de KD22 zeer beperkt is en de NAS ondanks de iets hoger geklokte processor ongeveer even snel is als de KD21, heeft de KD21 gezien de lagere prijs onze voorkeur boven de KD22. De belangrijkste concurrenten zijn de goedkopere modellen van Synology, QNAP en Netgear. Voor een bedrag dat slechts iets hoger is, bieden die meer en uitgebreidere functionaliteit.

Microsoft heeft de deadline voor de installatie van Windows 8.1 Update 1 opgerekt naar 10 juni. De update had eigenlijk nu al moeten draaien op alle pc's, want de patch van deze Patch Tuesday zou die update nodig hebben om te worden geïnstalleerd. Microsoft heeft de eis aan gebruikers laten vallen dat zij voor deze dinsdag de Windows 8.1 Update 1 moeten hebben geïnstalleerd. Die update zou nodig zijn om de laatste patches te kunnen gebruiken. Update 1 zou het nieuwe fundament zijn van Windows 8.1.Maar Microsoft geeft consumenten nu een extra maand de tijd. Eerder deed het bedrijf dat al voor zakelijke gebruikers; die krijgen zelfs nog tot in augustus de tijd.Om Update 1 is al heel wat te doen geweest. Eerst liepen pc's vast tijdens het downloaden ervan of werd de update simpelweg niet gevonden door de Windows Update-tool op de pc. Daarna ontstond er ophef bij de sysadmins nadat zakelijke systemen vastliepen en vervolgens ook nog bij bedrijven die die patch bij lange na niet bedrijfsbreed zouden kunnen employen voor de deadline van 12 mei. Zij kregen alras respijt.

Nu geeft Microsoft ook consumenten langer de tijd. "We zijn er van overtuigd dat in de komende maand de meerderheid van de klanten die nog niet hebben geüpdatet, dat kunnen doen", schrijft het bedrijf.Aan de instellingen van je beeldscherm hoef je bijna nooit iets te doen. Toch kan het na verloop van tijd zo zijn dat de kleuren net iets anders lijken, dat het beeld te fel lijkt of juist te donker. Daar kun je eenvoudig iets aan doen in Windows. Het kalibreren van een beeldscherm kan op verschillende manieren. Ten eerste is er de hardwarematige methode, via het beeldscherm zelf. Via de instellingen van je beeldscherm (via de toetsen op de hardware), kun je vaak kleuren veranderen, helderheid aanpassen enzovoort. Maar dat is lastig, als je niet weet wat de juiste instelling nu precies is.Daarnaast kun je ook een apparaatje kopen, genaamd een colorimeter, die je voor het beeldscherm houdt. Zo'n apparaatje kost echter een flinke duit (meer dan 100 euro) en is wat overdreven voor die enkele keer dat je moet kalibreren. Gelukkig kan Windows het ook.Zorg, voordat je gaat kalibreren, dat je beeldscherm al minstens een half uur is ingeschakeld, en de mogelijkheid heeft gekregen om even 'warm te draaien'. Klik op Start en typ Kalibreren en klik vervolgens op Beeldschermkleur kalibreren wanneer deze optie in beeld verschijnt.

Druk op Volgende en kijk welke afbeelding de juiste Gammawaarde weergeeft. Wanneer je nu weer op Volgende klikt, dien je de schuifregelaar zo te schuiven dat de afbeelding lijkt op de afbeelding die de juiste Gammawaarde weergaf. Druk wederom op Volgende en kijk nu bij welke afbeelding de helderheid goed is ingesteld. Wanneer je weer op Volgende klikt kun je met de schuifregelaar de helderheid instellen. Doe dit wederom zodat het resultaat lijkt op de afbeelding die je net hebt gezien. Zo klik je door de rest van de Wizard heen, waarbij je telkens voorbeelden krijgt van het gewenste resultaat en je moet proberen dat zo goed mogelijk te benaderen. Wanneer je de wizard hebt doorlopen, is je beeldscherm gekalibreerd.ACHTERGROND - Raspberry Pi plant vooralsnog geen hardware upgrade voor haar populaire computertje van 25 dollar. Er verschijnen inmiddels al wel snellere alternatieven op de markt voor mensen die dergelijke bordachtige apparaten aantrekkelijk vinden. Onder de alternatieven bevinden zich Solid Run's HummingBoard en Banana Pi, hoewel deze alleen verkrijgbaar is via Chinese online winkels voor ongeveer 50 dollar. De prijs en beschikbaarheid van de HummingBoard is nog niet bekendgemaakt.

De HummingBoard en Banana Pi zijn computers die de belangrijkste componenten bevatten, maar geen kast hebben, net als de Raspberry Pi. Ze kunnen gebruikt worden voor media streaming, robotica, consumentenelektronica, en in sommige gevallen als alternatief voor traditionele pc's. De nieuwe borden hebben snellere ARM-processoren, meer pin compatibiliteit en meer geheugen dan Raspberry Pi. Maar of de producten net zo populair kunnen worden als de Raspberry Pi, waarvan er miljoenen verkocht zijn, is een open vraag.Veel producten die concurreren met Raspberry Pi, zoals BeagleBoard, zijn de afgelopen jaren geüpgraded met snelle ARM-processoren en hebben ook een lagere prijs. Intel heeft deze maand de MinnowBoard Max aangekondigd (99 dollar), die een snellere processor heeft dan zijn voorganger, de MinnowBoard (199 dollar). Hoewel sommige borden ondersteund worden door topproducenten van chips, is de Raspberry Pi meer een educatieve tool die niet met winstoogmerk verkocht wordt.Raspberry Pi gebruikers hebben in forums hun verlangen naar een nieuw model uitgedrukt - wat in één bepaalde discussie het Model C wordt genoemd. De meest gevraagde functies in deze discussie zijn onder andere een snellere processor, meer geheugen en een open source firmware chip.

In een andere discussie wordt er gevraagd om een grafische processor die extra programmeerplatforms ondersteunt.HummingBoard en Banana Pi zouden in toenemende mate overwogen kunnen worden door gebruikers omdat Raspberry Pi zich richt op het onderwijs in plaats van hardware ontwikkeling. Raspberry Pi heeft onlangs een kleinere, modulaire computer gelanceerd die in aangepaste sleuven op het moederbord past, maar gebaseerd is op huidige Raspberry Pi specificaties."We hebben de komende tijd geen plannen voor een [snellere] versie van de Pi," zei Eben Upton, de oprichter van Raspberry Pi in een e-mail.De huidige Raspberry Pi computers hebben voldoende functies voor hun bedoelde toepassingen, en het upgraden van het bord zou de prijs kunnen doen stijgen, zei Upton. De Pi borden hebben tegen het einde van 2012 een geheugenupgrade gekregen, en software met mediastreaming wordt aangepast zodat het binnen de beperkingen van het bord kan functioneren."Er is momenteel geen duidelijke behoefte aan hogere prestaties, en we hebben geen manier om betere prestaties te bieden zonder de prijs te verhogen," zei Upton.

Upgrades hebben niet per se de hoogste prioriteit voor de meeste Pi gebruikers, maar een subgroep van de gemeenschap zal zoveel mogelijke kracht en prestaties willen als maar mogelijk is, zei Dean McCarron, hoofdanalist bij Mercury Research, die het bord gebruikt heeft."Als mensen tegen dezelfde prijs hogere prestaties kunnen krijgen, dan gaan ze daarvoor," zei McCarron.De headroom van de extra prestaties zou ervoor kunnen zorgen dat het bord een beter desktopsupplement is, en dan video beter draait, aldus McCarron. Het zou ook een beter platform zijn voor Android applicaties.De Banana Pi heeft een Allwinner A20 ARM Cortex-A7 dual-core processor, een Mali 400 grafische kern, 1GB aan DDR3 RAM, een SD-kaartsleuf, twee USB 2.0 poorten en ethernet. Beim Preisvergleich ist aber Sorgfalt angesagt, berichtet die Zeitschrift "Computerbild" (Ausgabe 1/2017).Im Vergleich zu den extrem schlanken hochpreisigen Geräten bieten Mittelklasse-Notebooks gelegentlich sogar einige Vorteile. Etwa die Möglichkeit zum Aufrüsten: Während bei teuren Ultrabooks viele Bauteile wie Speicher oder Arbeitsspeicher fester Bestandteil der Hauptplatine sind, setzen die meist größeren Notebooks noch auf Sockelanschlüsse. So kann später Arbeitsspeicher nachgerüstet oder die Festplatte ersetzt werden. Auch bei der Anzahl der Anschlüsse hat die tendenziell größere Bauform Vorteile. Bei vielen Ultrabooks gibt es nur wenige Anschlüsse, Netzwerkkabel lassen sich teils nur mit Adaptern anschließen.Wer ein interessantes Modell gefunden hat, findet über Preisvergleich-Portale einen günstigen Händler. Sie sollen die Bürger bei der größten Evakuierungsaktion wegen einer Bombenentschärfung in Deutschland aus der Innenstadt bringen.Doch viele Bahnen und Busse bleiben fast leer, auch auf den Straßen sind am Vormittag des ersten Weihnachtsfeiertages nur relativ wenige der betroffenen 54 000 Augsburger unterwegs.Offenbar hatten viele das gemacht, worauf die Behörden schon in den Tagen seit dem Bombenfund am Dienstag gehofft hatten. Die Menschen waren bereits am Heiligen Abend zu ihrer Familie oder zu Freunden gefahren, wenn sie nicht gleich noch weiter verreist waren.Während rund 900 Polizisten zusammen mit Hunderten Feuerwehrkräften am Sonntag gegen 11.00 Uhr durch die Stadt fahren und mit Lautsprecherdurchsagen nochmals auf die Räumungsanordnung hinweisen, heißt es im Internetticker der Verwaltung: "Die Atmosphäre in der Stadt ist gespenstisch. Kein Mensch auf den Straßen, kein Gesicht hinter den Fensterscheiben."

Bis auf eine Ausnahme: Die Ware weist Mängel auf, die in der Produktbeschreibung so nicht auftauchen. Zum Beispiel einen defekten Akku. "Bei einem Kaufvertrag zwischen Privaten muss der Käufer das Vorliegen des Mangels beweisen, um seine Gewährleistungsrechte geltend zu machen", erläutert Mona Semmler von der Verbraucherschutzzentrale Niedersachsen. Er muss also beweisen, dass der Artikel nicht so aussieht oder funktioniert wie im Inserat angegeben. In der Praxis bereite das allerdings häufig Probleme.Da kann es helfen, wenn Kaufinteressenten vor der Übergabe Anzeigentexte oder Produktbeschreibungen speichern oder ausdrucken. Entdeckt man nach dem Kauf kaputte Teile oder funktioniert die Ware nicht richtig, kann sich der Käufer auf diese Dokumente berufen.

Am besten lässt man es aber gar nicht so weit kommen. "Hinfahren, Ware angucken", lautet der Rat von Stephanie Schmidt. So können Interessenten überprüfen, ob der Wunschartikel im passenden Zustand ist - und fallen nicht so schnell auf Betrugsmaschen herein.Denn wie überall, wo Geld im Spiel ist, gibt es Einfallstore für Betrüger. "Die Nutzer haben keinen Einblick, wer genau hinter den jeweiligen Angeboten steckt", gibt Verbraucherschützerin Semmler zu bedenken. "Vorsicht ist vor allem geboten, wenn es sich um extrem günstige Lockangebote handelt." Die tauchen immer wieder neben ernst gemeinten Angeboten auf.Die österreichische Watchlist Internet warnt deshalb davor, per Vorkasse zu bezahlen. Wenn der versprochene Artikel nicht kommt, haben Käufer keine Möglichkeit, wieder an ihr Geld zu kommen. Ähnlich funktionieren Maschen, in denen die vermeintlichen Verkäufer Treuhänder erfinden, an die die Zahlung gehen soll.Umgekehrt können auch Verkäufer auf Betrügertricks hereinfallen: Zum Einsatz kommen ungedeckte Schecks, gefälschte Überweisungsaufträge oder Paypal-Bestätigungen. Der Verkäufer schickt die Ware im Glauben los, das Geld sei bezahlt. Fliegt der Betrug auf, ist es zu spät.

"Die Zahl der Betrugsfälle und Betrugsversuche ist in den letzten Jahren leicht gestiegen", hat Thorsten Behrens beobachtet. Er ist Projektleiter bei Watchlist Internet. Dies liege daran, dass neben teuren Waren nun auch günstige Massenartikel vermeintlich zum Verkauf angeboten würden. Die Zahl der Geschädigten gehe dadurch nach oben. "Die ursprüngliche Betrugsmasche mit den teuren Angeboten existiert aber weiterhin, wenn auch nicht mehr ganz so verbreitet", sagt Behrens.Ganz sicher sind weder Inserenten noch Käufer vor solchen Betrügern. Die kostenlosen Plattformen, sei es Local24.de, Locanto, Markt.de oder DHD24, sind nur Vermittler. Gleiches gilt für Verkaufs-Gruppen auf Facebook oder Online-Kleinanzeigen der Zeitung. Wie im gedruckten Anzeigenblatt dienen sie nur zur Kontaktherstellung. Semmler rät trotzdem, sich im Streitfall an die Seitenbetreiber zu wenden: "Sie haben schließlich ein Eigeninteresse am reibungslosen Ablauf der Verkäufe." Bei Betrug sei die Polizei der richtige Ansprechpartner.

Es ist enorm, was sich da entwickelt hat", sagte Wormuth. "Die jungen Kerle kommen zu uns als U15-Trainer und machen nichts Anderes als Fußball - von morgens bis abends. Diese Trainer können von heute auf morgen eine Mannschaft im Senioren-Bereich übernehmen."

Im Ãœbrigen glaube er nicht, dass ein Nagelsmann heute im Profi-Team von Hoffenheim etwas anderes mache als zuvor bei der U19 - was Trainingsinhalte und Ansprache angehe. El Ayuntamiento de Gibraleón ha abierto un expediente de responsabilidad patrimonial al ex alcalde socialista de la localidad, Juan Serrato, a los efectos de determinar la posible responsabilidad en que pudiera incurrir en relación a los terminales y material informático de que disponían los concejales de su equipo de gobierno bajo su mandato como alcalde.

Según el informe del técnico informático municipal, de fecha 15 de marzo de este año, estos materiales se encuentran pendientes de devolver al Consistorio olontense. Según consta en las facturas, el Ayuntamiento adquirió varios ordenadores portátiles para el uso de los concejales de gobierno para su utilización como cargos electos. A pesar de la reiteradas peticiones que se han realizado desde el consistorio al grupo socialista, quedan por entregar cuatro PC portátil Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2060, siete maletines portátiles, 10 memorias USB 1Gb y un iPhone 4 32 Gb, valorados según la factura de pago de dichos materiales en 4.824 euros, tal y como se desprende de los informes realizados por el técnico informático de fecha 29 de julio de 2011 y 15 de marzo de 2013. El alcalde de Gibraleón, José Ramón Gómez Cueli, ante las declaraciones del secretario general de los socialistas olontenses, José Manuel Álvarez, en las que se acusa de "persecución política al anterior alcalde", ha manifestado que lo único que pretende es que "se devuelva el material proporcionado a los concejales socialistas, ya que no es de recibo que material informático que es propiedad del ayuntamiento este en manos de personas que no ejercen ya responsabilidades de gobierno. Al mismo tiempo, el señor Álvarez debería aclararle a Serrato si él mismo ha entregado ese material o aún hace uso de él".

En cuanto al pago de las asignaciones al grupo municipal socialista, el Ayuntamiento, en lo transcurrido de legislatura, ha abonado 17.272 euros, por lo que Gómez Cueli califica de "cínicos a quienes estando en el gobierno municipal daban una asignación de 9 euros mensuales al Partido Popular, a pesar de haber ganado las elecciones con mayoría absoluta, y ahora exigen pagos y no devuelven los materiales que se llevaron del Ayuntamiento”. El secretario general de los socialistas de Gibraleón, José Manuel Álvarez, ha señalado que su partido estudia emprender acciones legales contra Gómez Cueli por injurias y calumnias y prevaricación.El PSOE de Gibraleón ha considerado que el alcalde del PP, José Ramón Gómez Cueli, gobierna con el "rencor "y está "anclado” en la fecha de la moción de censura del 2005. Este hecho "le lleva a adoptar decisiones basadas en la prepotencia, abuso de poder y a persecución política contra el portavoz y ex alcalde socialista Juan Serrato”, ha señalado el secretario general de los socialistas, José Manuel Álvarez.

Según el dirigente socialista local, "después de acordar personalmente que no se pagara 4 meses de asignación al Grupo Municipal Socialista (más de 4.000 euros), cuando había pagado al resto de grupos políticos, y verse abocado a pagar, casi dos años más tarde, ante la amenaza de denuncia por prevaricación, junto a los informes de los funcionarios municipales, ahora arremete contra el portavoz socialista iniciando una pantomima de expediente municipal de responsabilidad patrimonial”.Con la "invención” del expediente, -incidió Álvarez- "el alcalde del PP pretende reclamar al portavoz socialista distinto material informático que adquirió el Ayuntamiento de Gibraleón hace aproximadamente 5 años, cuando gobernaba el PSOE. "Gómez Cueli acusa falsamente y sin justificación alguna, que está en poder de los exconcejales socialistas”, añadió. La realidad es que los exconcejales socialistas devolvieron los teléfonos móviles, los ordenadores portátiles que tenía en uso como herramienta de trabajo una vez finalizado el anterior mandato y así consta, en los oficios de entrega realizado por todos concejales y concejalas.

Por tanto, el socialista consideró que se trata de un "ataque de prepotencia” y de un manifiesto abuso de poder ante la obligación de pagar lo adeudado al grupo socialista, cuando le consta la entrega del material de trabajo por parte de los concejales socialistas y cuando no tiene prueba alguna de su acusación. The buttons beneath it are particularly big and are very easy to press -- handy if you're doing some furious clicking around web pages. You'll still want to stick in a USB mouse if you're booting up games.Above the keyboard are two angry-looking grilles, behind which lie two speakers provided by audio specialists Harman/Kardon. They pump out a decent racket by laptop speaker standards, with a punchy bass and clear highs, but if you want a really immersive gaming or movie experience, you're going to need to hook up a proper set of speakers or get yourself some awesome headphones to hear those head-shots in beautiful, brain-rending definition.Harman/Kardon provides the speaker tech, elevating the X770's sound above the tinny norm thanks to this subwoofer. We're not keen on the way the battery pokes out, but many of you will appreciate the typing comfort offered by the tilted angle.When it's just sat on your desk, the 8481T seems to have its little heart set on taking the prize as the most boring looking laptop currently on sale. The lid is simply a piece of plain matte black that goes to show just how dull a laptop can be made. We're much less keen on this 'floaty' type as it makes the keys feel very rattly and fragile. Worse still, there's a massive gap beneath each key which is just begging to be filled by cake crumbs, fluff and any other detritus that happens to be in the local vicinity.The keyboard's base also doesn't fill us with confidence due to the fairly large amount of flex it offers while you're typing -- it's somewhat disconcerting when you press down on one key and see all the surrounding keys flex inwards. You'd certainly want to avoid smashing your fists down on it in rage if you just missed those quarterly projections.

Supersticiosa y simbólica a más no poder. Igual que yo a ti desde tus bragas muchos andan ahora vistiendo a cristo y a virgen, con mantos de oro y delirios de plata y bordados extraordinarios. Miro a estas estatuas y veo en ellas los pensamientos de la gente y me suena raro. Es como lo de los muertos, me hace gracia. Me resulta gracioso observar cómo la gente coge su memoria, su esperanza, su imaginación y su sustento emocional, homologa todo ello a una tradición establecida y después lo adorna, le pone oro y brillantes y lo pasea; es decir, se adorna, se pone oro y se pasea, a su imaginación, a su pensamiento simbólico. Me hace gracia y sobre todo si lo miramos desde alguna calle de Lisboa destruida mientras se van precipitando hacia el vacío todas las supersticiones, las tumbas de alabastro, los cristos y los huesos. Todo ello dejará de existir cuando deje de existir el último individuo que se lo crea, y ése lo veremos marcharse mientras nos reímos de los apocalipsis. Pero aún no es tiempo de eso. Es tiempo de marcharnos a la sierra y dejar a cada cual con sus símbolos y sus celebraciones. No obstante pido a algún dios que dé suerte para que allí nos coja una tarde de lluvia, en una habitación sin tendederos. El Ayuntamiento de Gibraleón ha abierto un expediente de responsabilidad patrimonial al ex alcalde socialista de la localidad, Juan Serrato, a los efectos de determinar la posible responsabilidad en que pudiera incurrir en relación a los terminales y material informático de que disponían los concejales de su equipo de gobierno bajo su mandato como alcalde.

Según el informe del técnico informático municipal, de fecha 15 de marzo de este año, estos materiales se encuentran pendientes de devolver al Consistorio olontense. Según consta en las facturas, el Ayuntamiento adquirió varios ordenadores portátiles para el uso de los concejales de gobierno para su utilización como cargos electos. A pesar de la reiteradas peticiones que se han realizado desde el consistorio al grupo socialista, quedan por entregar cuatro PC portátil Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2060, siete maletines portátiles, 10 memorias USB 1Gb y un iPhone 4 32 Gb, valorados según la factura de pago de dichos materiales en 4.824 euros, tal y como se desprende de los informes realizados por el técnico informático de fecha 29 de julio de 2011 y 15 de marzo de 2013. El alcalde de Gibraleón, José Ramón Gómez Cueli, ante las declaraciones del secretario general de los socialistas olontenses, José Manuel Álvarez, en las que se acusa de "persecución política al anterior alcalde", ha manifestado que lo único que pretende es que "se devuelva el material proporcionado a los concejales socialistas, ya que no es de recibo que material informático que es propiedad del ayuntamiento este en manos de personas que no ejercen ya responsabilidades de gobierno. Al mismo tiempo, el señor Álvarez debería aclararle a Serrato si él mismo ha entregado ese material o aún hace uso de él".

En cuanto al pago de las asignaciones al grupo municipal socialista, el Ayuntamiento, en lo transcurrido de legislatura, ha abonado 17.272 euros, por lo que Gómez Cueli califica de "cínicos a quienes estando en el gobierno municipal daban una asignación de 9 euros mensuales al Partido Popular, a pesar de haber ganado las elecciones con mayoría absoluta, y ahora exigen pagos y no devuelven los materiales que se llevaron del Ayuntamiento”. El secretario general de los socialistas de Gibraleón, José Manuel Álvarez, ha señalado que su partido estudia emprender acciones legales contra Gómez Cueli por injurias y calumnias y prevaricación.El PSOE de Gibraleón ha considerado que el alcalde del PP, José Ramón Gómez Cueli, gobierna con el "rencor "y está "anclado” en la fecha de la moción de censura del 2005. Este hecho "le lleva a adoptar decisiones basadas en la prepotencia, abuso de poder y a persecución política contra el portavoz y ex alcalde socialista Juan Serrato”, ha señalado el secretario general de los socialistas, José Manuel Álvarez.

Según el dirigente socialista local, "después de acordar personalmente que no se pagara 4 meses de asignación al Grupo Municipal Socialista (más de 4.000 euros), cuando había pagado al resto de grupos políticos, y verse abocado a pagar, casi dos años más tarde, ante la amenaza de denuncia por prevaricación, junto a los informes de los funcionarios municipales, ahora arremete contra el portavoz socialista iniciando una pantomima de expediente municipal de responsabilidad patrimonial”.Con la "invención” del expediente, -incidió Álvarez- "el alcalde del PP pretende reclamar al portavoz socialista distinto material informático que adquirió el Ayuntamiento de Gibraleón hace aproximadamente 5 años, cuando gobernaba el PSOE. "Gómez Cueli acusa falsamente y sin justificación alguna, que está en poder de los exconcejales socialistas”, añadió. La realidad es que los exconcejales socialistas devolvieron los teléfonos móviles, los ordenadores portátiles que tenía en uso como herramienta de trabajo una vez finalizado el anterior mandato y así consta, en los oficios de entrega realizado por todos concejales y concejalas.

Por tanto, el socialista consideró que se trata de un "ataque de prepotencia” y de un manifiesto abuso de poder ante la obligación de pagar lo adeudado al grupo socialista, cuando le consta la entrega del material de trabajo por parte de los concejales socialistas y cuando no tiene prueba alguna de su acusación. De la inconsistencia de la acusación da muestras el hecho de que la factura se remonta a 5 años atrás; que ha tardado 2 años en ordenar la apertura de expediente de responsabilidad patrimonial y sólo lo hace "por despecho” cando es obligado a pagar la asignación al grupo socialista que por "capricho” había ordenado no pagar.Tampoco se entiende -según José Manuel Álvarez- cómo sin prueba alguna inicia la reclamación patrimonial contra el portavoz y no contra ningún otro concejal, lo que indica que se trata de una venganza política y no de una reclamación seria."El PP roza al esperpento de llegar a requerir 10 pendrive de 1Gb que se entregaron a los concejales del equipo de gobierno socialista, valorándolos en 600 euros, (a razón de 60euros por pen), cinco años más tarde”.

También, el dirigente socialista exigió a Gómez Cueli, que "junto a este expediente patrimonial, abra otro expediente a sí mismo por los 4 meses que, después de ser alcalde en el 2005, el Ayuntamiento le pagó la factura de su móvil personal”. Por último, los socialistas anunciaron que estudian la posibilidad de emprender acciones legales contra Gómez Cueli por injurias y calumnias y prevaricación.La apertura de nuevos negocios en la provincia de Huelva mantiene, pese a la de la complicada coyuntura económica actual, un número de licencias tramitadas que en muchos casos supera las 40 en 2012, y en su mayoría se centran en restaurantes y actividades de ocio. Así se desprende del número de licencias de aperturas tramitadas desde los distintos ayuntamientos a lo largo de este último ejercicio 2012. La localidad costera de Punta Umbría encabeza el ranking de los municipios consultados de Huelva con 102 licencias tramitadas, en su mayoría de restauración y comercio menor. Se trata de una cifra inferior a la del año 2011 cuando eran más 125 pero hay que tener en cuenta que el Área de Actividades llevaba también la reapertura de piscinas y eso puede haber provocado este leve descenso.

Bárbara Carrasco, concejal de Economía, Hacienda y Actividades del Ayuntamiento de Punta Umbría, ha destacado que el hecho de que la localidad sea un municipio costero y turístico "ayuda a que se promueva la creación de nuevas actividades".En este sentido, ha remarcado que por ello la mayoría de las licencias son para negocios relacionados con la hostelería y el comercio menor, a la par que ha subrayado que, aunque el movimiento de población es mayor durante la época estival, los fines de semana también se producen desplazamientos de ciudadanos de Huelva y Sevilla a Punta Umbría, lo que ayuda a "dinamizar" el municipio durante el invierno y explica la mayor presencia de solicitud de licencias para establecimientos de hostelería.Carrasco ha deseado que todos los nuevos negocios "tengan un largo recorrido" debido a que, ante la actual situación económica, es "muy valorable" que los ciudadanos aboguen por poner en marcha nuevas actividades.Otra de las localidades con una fuerte presencia emprendedora es Ayamonte, donde en el pasado año se tramitaron 96 expedientes de autorizaciones y licencias.De ellas, un total de 23 corresponden a bares y restaurantes, 16 a alimentación, nueve a comercios de ropa y seis a establecimientos de peluquería y gabinete de belleza.

A juicio del teniente alcalde de Infraestructuras, Obras Públicas y Medio Ambiente del Consistorio ayamontino, Rafael Luna, estas cifras desprenden que con el alza del paro "se da lugar al autoempleo y a la búsqueda de otras alternativas" ante la imposibilidad de trabajar por cuenta ajena.Tras señalar que el comercio en la localidad "se va manteniendo" ayudado también por el tradicional flujo de población con Portugal, ha remarcado que también contribuye a la actividad económica la presencia de ciudadanos extranjeros en el municipio.Por su parte, también es un municipio costero el que lidera el número de licencias tramitadas y Lepe contabiliza un total de 63 licencias gestionadas por el Consistorio.De este modo, han sido un total de 63 licencias a razón de 30 relativas a empresas de las denominadas 'calificadas', por el tipo de actividad e impacto en el entorno (ruidos), como son por ejemplo bares, restaurantes o talleres. Asimismo, se han registrado un total de 33 licencias gestionadas de empresas denominadas 'inocuas', como son las tiendas en general, de ropa o calzado, entre otras. Pese a este volumen, señalan que el número de licencias gestionadas ha descendido "considerablemente" con respecto a años anteriores.

Even further, people shouldn't see any significant difference in battery usage among the three core processors--the i3, i5, and i7. The battery life itself was tested using the MobileMark 2007 benchmark, according to Taylor, and was done on units with solid state drives and with the power management features turned on.Consumers eyeing the convertible have a choice of two types of displays. A multitouch screen allows input through both fingers and digital pen, while a special outdoor panel is designed for mobile workers who need to use the tablet outside. The outdoor panel doesn't offer the finger touch option but instead is optimized to reflect light so the screen is visible even in bright sunlight. It also uses Corning's Gorilla glass, which is more durable and scratch-resistant than other types of glass panels. Like other convertibles, the X220 transforms from a notebook into a tablet by rotating the display and pushing it onto the keyboard. Lenovo wanted to give both the tablet and the notebook a cleaner look and feel, Taylor said. So the old-style latches that lock the lid onto the base have been jettisoned in favor of a latchless design. Using a new pinching mechanism, the lid automatically closes shut when it comes close to the keyboard. This new design also helped Lenovo bump up the size of the touch pad by 45 percent.The touch pad itself now offers a buttonless design. Intel's been brewing towards such a goal for many years -- decent performance in a low power chip. As more and more moves off the chipset and onto the CPU, thermals can be managed more efficiently, and interconnects suffer less bandwidth issues. With the tag team of USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt coming into view, the need for multiple ports shrinks dramatically, too.Of course, the Airs have had Intel chips in them from the beginning, making us wonder if Apple had a timed, exclusive deal with Intel that prevented Windows competitors getting on board in the same price range. Or maybe they were just too obsessed with netbooks to care.Speculation aside, the Air competitors are now here, with contenders from Asus, Acer and Toshiba in the market. HP's Folio 13 is expected to arrive some time in December, but there's no word yet as to when Lenovo's U330s will hit our shores.

While the new laptops are interesting, vendors have decided not to play -- for now. Speculation is that most are waiting for a technology revision, to bring down costs and improve the profit margin.Sony hasn't announced anything, but Intel thinks it will. Fujitsu has no plans to jump in for this generation. Dell is staying oddly silent, but rumours persist. Samsung has thin laptops, but it's not bandying the phrase "ultrabook" anywhere and the price is still at a premium. MSI has thin laptops, but they're too heavy to get the ultrabook label. Should this be a warning sign? Do the current crop of ultrabooks hold a candle to the MacBook Air, or are they still playing catch up? Our competitors this time are the Asus ZenBook UX 21 and UX31, the Toshiba Satellite Z830 and the Acer Aspire S3.A warning going in: this isn't the place for operating system holy wars. If you like Windows, great, stick with it. If OS X is your thing, by all means keep using it. If you've got an open mind though, carry on...Toshiba's entrant shows a scary amount of flex in its screen, and the laptop itself feels a little fragile, too, much like its Portege R series. Despite our concerns, it survived quite a few weeks of punishment being tossed in a bag and carried between home and work.

Despite Acer's Aspire S3 having a magnesium/aluminium frame, the chassis skin feels like it's plastic and flexes like it, too. To add insult to injury, the dull grey that Acer has chosen simply inspires boredom.Many have tried to copy Apple's touch pad on the Windows side, and for reasons that probably involve patents, have failed repeatedly. Its combination of gestures tightly integrated with the operating system make going back to a Windows pad feel clunky. A splaying of fingers shows the desktop, swiping two fingers scrolls, swiping four fingers up shows Mission Control (app and virtual desktop switching), tapping two fingers simultaneously acts as right-click -- there's a whole lot more, and it makes application management so much friendlier. Sickening promo music aside, the video below shows the depth of what one touch pad can do.Only recently has multi-touch become reliable on Windows laptops, with older models getting confused between pinch to zoom and rotate functions. Synaptics and Elantech have mostly sorted the problem now, although what gestures you get will depend on what driver you use, rather than the hardware involved.

Out of all the ultrabooks, Acer's Elantech pad on the Aspire S3 is the best, offering the most configurability and smooth action. Asus' is by far the worst; almost bad enough by itself to recommend you stay away from the laptop. It's made by a manufacturer called Sentelic, whose hallmarks include awful drivers (if your laptop maker provides them -- Sentelic doesn't make them available on its site), skittish response and terribly unreliable multi-touch gestures.On the keyboard side, only Toshiba and Apple offer backlit keyboards. All provide decent typing experiences except the Asus, where the keyboard is bad enough that it drops letters when typing. Toshiba's keyboard flexes slightly while typing but doesn't seem to impact on speed, while Acer's is your everyday, standard keyboard.Most laptops use TN screens, and there's no exception to the contenders here. This means comparatively poor viewing angles to competing technologies like IPS, but it's worth saying that there are varying qualities within the TN field itself.

Asus' UX21 has a bad TN screen. Its vertical viewing angles are so shallow that if you filled the screen with one colour, it would be a different colour at the top than the bottom. We found ourselves constantly adjusting the screen, trying to get the optimum angle, but never getting there.The UX31 is a different kettle of fish. Maybe it's a size thing, but we found the optimal viewing angle easier to hit. It also has a fantastic resolution of 1600x900 -- the MacBook Air 13 trailing at 1440x900, and everything else using the ubiquitous and annoying 1366x768 resolution.We say annoying because even today there are user interfaces that expect a larger vertical resolution than 768 pixels -- Adobe's save-to-web interface in Photoshop, for example, runs off screen, hiding the OK and cancel buttons. One could validly argue this is Adobe's problem, but it's a shame that resolutions have reduced rather than increased over the years.Toshiba's screen has better viewing angles than most, but its colours are overly saturated, leading to a disconcerting colour shift. This will only be obvious to most consumers if they place two laptops side by side, and will unlikely annoy anyone but designers and those who use colour critical applications.

The Aspire S3 has an acceptable screen, while Apple uses a high-quality TN screen in both its 11- and 13-inch models. The Air also features an ambient light sensor that dynamically changes screen brightness depending on your surrounds -- a battery-saving feature missing from its competitors.Apple has an interesting advantage in Handbrake, with the much faster Asus ZenBook UX31 managing to only just nestle between both of Cupertino's contenders. We can only assume OS X-level optimisations. Still, at performing the same task, the MacBook Airs are incredibly efficient.The advantage carries to iTunes, which, as it's Apple software, should be no surprise. iTunes on Windows has always been a comparatively sluggish performer, with the Asus offerings only keeping pace by pure virtue of being faster. From an efficiency view, Apple still takes the cake.Here's where it gets interesting -- it seems Windows machines have the advantage with Photoshop, especially under heavy load. Even the hard-drive-equipped Acer outperforms both MacBooks by a significant margin.

Despite the MacBooks having big advantages in both Handbrake and iTunes, when we start using them to encode simultaneously another picture emerges. Asus' higher specced hardware allows it to create quite the lead here.Running a 720p H.264 video with the screen at full brightness is our heavy battery test, with everything on the list being capable of watching at least one movie before dying (Lord of the Rings Extended Editions excluded).Our light battery test sets the screen at 40 per cent brightness, and browses websites until battery exhaustion. When taking both into account, you can get a good idea of how long a battery may last under a mix of conditions.Acer aside, the 13-inch laptops have a clear advantage over the 11-inch competitors, purely down to being able to hold bigger batteries.

The Toshiba Qosmio X770 is aimed squarely at the gamer in you, with an angry design sure to send hordes of schoolboys dizzy with sugar-fuelled excitement. It's packing a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB of RAM, as well as an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M graphics card to really power through the polygons.It's available now from most retailers for around £1,500, although at the time of writing you can find it on Amazon for £1,400.If you're after a super-light little laptop to slide into a case and take on your travels, the X770 isn't going to be high on your wish-list. Make no mistake about it; this thing is enormous. With a width of 413mm and a depth of 274mm, it's big enough to dominate most of your desk and will undoubtedly need to be carried in a suitcase, rather than a bag.The X770's weight -- 3.4kg -- means that you'll probably need to get a burly friend to help you carry it too, unless you've recently been on a strict regime of back exercises and bull hormones. At 28mm, it's not the thickest laptop we've ever set eyes on, but it hardly qualifies as slim. Even worse, the battery bulges out at the back like a punch-related swelling.

Mit seinem Akku soll das Toughbook CF-29 bis zu acht Stunden durchhalten, zum Vorgänger hat sich in dieser Hinsicht trotz der besseren Ausstattung also nichts geändert. Die Abmessungen von etwa 30 x 6 x x 27 cm (ohne herausragende Elemente) und das Gewicht von 3,6 kg kommen nicht von ungefähr: Das magnesiumlegierte Gehäuse der alten und neuen CF-29-Geräte soll in Bezug auf Vibrations- und Stoßfestigkeit auch militärischen Anforderungen (MIL-STD 810F) gerecht werden - unter anderem auf Grund eines 32 mm dicken, ausgeschäumten Festplattengehäuses. Einen Aufprall aus einer Höhe von 90 cm soll auch das neue CF-29 ohne Probleme überstehen.Durch eine wasserdichte Schicht mit flexiblem Elastomer sollen die Fugenverbindungen und Außenabdeckungen wie beim vorherigen CF-29 versiegelt sein, der Staub- und Wasserschutz soll dem Standard IP54 gerecht werden. Eine Festplattenheizung soll den Betrieb bei extrem niedrigen Temperaturen von bis zu -20 Grad Celsius ermöglichen. Damit sich das Gehäuse in warmer Umgebung nicht zu sehr aufheizt, helfen eine reflektierende silberne Lackierung und das interne thermische Leitungssystem des Geräts.

Das aufgewertete CF-29 ist ab Oktober 2005 für rund 5200,- Euro erhältlich. Als Betriebssystem ist Windows XP Professional installiert.Ebenfalls überarbeitet wurde das 2,1 kg wiegende Convertible-Geräte CF-18 - auch hier ist die wichtigste Neuerung der mit 500 cd/qm deutlich leuchtstärkere Touchscreen. Das 10,4-Zoll-XGA-LCD lässt sich drehen und umklappen, so dass aus dem Notebook auch ein Tablet-PC werden kann. Auch beim neuen CF-18 wurde die Akkulaufzeit trotz schnellerem ULV-Pentium-M (1,2 statt 1,1 GHz), dem Wechsel zum 915GMS-Chipsatz und zu DDR2-SDRAM beibehalten: bis zu 8,5 Stunden ununterbrochene Betriebsdauer sollen möglich sein. Ein SD-Card-Steckplatz kam auch hier neu hinzu, während die Festplatte bei 60 GByte bleibt und WLAN, Bluetooth und Ethernet wie beim Vorgänger von Hause aus dabei sind. Zum Speicherausbau wurde nichts verkündet, er dürfte bei 512 MByte geblieben sein.... auch als Version mit Stiftsteuerung Das CF-18 wird wie bisher außerdem noch in der elektromagnetischen Digitizer-Ausführung inkl. Stiftbedienung erhältlich sein. Während die Touchscreen-Modelle mit Windows XP Professional ausgeliefert werden, liegt der CF-18-Digitizer-Ausführung die mit Handschriftenerkennung ausgestattete Windows XP Tablet PC-Edition bei.

Nur die mittlere Taste weist einen spürbaren Druckpunkt auf, die runde Sensorfläche darum dient zum schnellen Scrollen oder zur Regulierung der Lautstärke. Bei der Vorstellung des Produkts kamen auch Personen nach zwei Minuten damit zurecht, die noch nie einen iPod in der Hand hatten.

Fast ein Schminkspiegel Einzig die verschiedenen Modi des Click Wheel, etwa wenn die Lautstärkeanzeige bei Wiedergabe nicht sichtbar ist, bedurften eines erklärenden Satzes. Für routinierte iPod-Benutzer mit großen Händen wirkt der Steuerkranz mit seinen etwa drei Zentimetern Durchmesser etwas fummelig - es will feinfühlend bedient werden, woran man sich aber schnell gewöhnt, da man den Daumen ohnehin nur mit der Kante aufsetzen kann, wenn man das Gerät in der Hand hält.Anders als beim iPod mini ist beim nano die Kopfhörerbuchse an der Unterseite angebracht. Das ist unpraktisch, wenn man den Player beispielsweise in das urspünglich für Wechselgeld vorgesehene Fach einer Jeans stecken will, wie das nebenstehende Bild es zeigt. Nützlich ist die Positionierung der Buchse aber für die optionalen "Lanyard"-Kopfhörer. Dann baumelt der Player kopfüber am Hals des Benutzers und das Display bleibt lesbar.

Nicht zu dick Für das Lanyard verlangt Apple aber 39,- Euro extra. Es verfügt auf den ersten Blick über dieselben Kopfhörer-Treiber wie beim mitgelieferten Hörer. Bei diesem ist der Stecker so dünn ausgefallen, dass der nano auch flach auf dem Tisch liegen kann - leider ist der Stecker aber nicht gewinkelt, so dass ein Verschleiß des meist abgeknickten Kabels beim Tragen in der Jackentasche programmiert ist. Andere gewinkelte Stecker, etwa der des zum Test ebenfalls eingesetzten "The Plug" von Koss, tragen am iPod nano deutlich auf.Dennoch gefiel der Klang der einfach wirkenden Serienhörer. Sie entwickeln einen beachtlichen Pegel, neigen jedoch auch bei den Werkseinstellungen des Equalizers wie etwa "Rock" oder "Dance" bei hohen Lautstärken zum Verzerren des Bassbereichs. Solche Klangattacken sollte man kleinen Hörern aber ohnehin nicht lange zumuten, sonst sind die Treiber schnell durchgebrannt. Auch bei abgeschaltetem EQ klang der iPod nano recht bassstark.Markenzeichen: Der weiße Kopfhörer Diese vermutlich ab Werk vorgenommene Anhebung der Tiefen zeigte sich auch mit dem "The Plug" von Koss. Mit diesem Hörer zeichnete der nano das Klangbild noch luftiger, typische MP3-Artefakte wie klingelnde Höhen bei ungeeigneten EQ-Einstellungen kitzelte dieser Hörer aber auch deutlich heraus. Durch die laute Umgebung, kurze Testzeit und die von Apple aufgespielten Songs auf den Playern war eine endgültige Beurteilung des Klangs nicht möglich. Doch auch unter diesen Bedingungen war der iPod nano einfachen MP3-Playern, wie sie schon unter 40,- Euro zu haben sind, meilenweit überlegen und überzeugte nicht nur durch hohe Lautstärke, sondern auch einen gleichbleibenden Klang über den gesamten Lautstärkebereich.

Neben den Lanyards ist wohl das Dock für den iPod nano für 39,- Euro das interessanteste Zubehör. Der Schreibtisch-Aufsteller schleift im Wesentlichen nur den iPod-Port des Players durch und bietet einen zusätzlichen Line-Ausgang. Die verbreitete Praxis, MP3-Player über den Kopfhörerausgang an Verstärker anzuschließen, ist klanglich minderwertig. Doch auch dafür scheint der Preis des Dock überzogen. Es macht sich aber schick auf dem Schreibtisch, belegt weniger Raum als eine Visitenkarte und steht stabil.Dock mit Line-Ausgang Da Apple keine Tasche für den nano mitliefert, ist man auch hier auf Zubehör angewiesen - nicht nur zum Schutz vor Kratzern: Auf den hochglanzpolierten Oberflächen des nano wird jeder Fingerabdruck sofort sichtbar. Die fünf in Anspielung auf jüngste Forschung "nano Tubes" genannten Gummihüllen gibt es nur gemeinsam zu kaufen, sie kosten 29,- Euro. Die von einigen Anwesenden auch als iPod-Kondome betitelten Tubes sitzen bombenfest und sollten den Player auch bei einem Sturz auf harten Untergrund schützen. Sie reflektieren grelles Licht recht stark, wie die geblitzte Aufnahme belegt.

Tube-Steckhüllen reflektieren stark Das gilt auch für den Ring um das Click Wheel, den Apple - nomen est omen - auf dem "Armband" angebracht hat. Er soll für ein bisschen mehr Sicherheit beim Joggen dienen. Das in fünf Farben erhältliche Band (Grau, Blau, Grün, Pink, Rot) wirkt belastbar, hat einen Klettverschluss mit groben Krallen, was der Lebensdauer dient - aber auch einen stolzen Preis von 29,- Euro je Stück.Bei der für die kleinen ipods neuen Funktion des Bilderbetrachtens legte der nano eine Geschwindigkeit von unter etwa einer halben Sekunde beim Wechsel der Motive vor. Kein Wunder: iTunes rechnet die Bilder beim Übertragen auf den Player automatisch auf die Größe des Displays von 176 x 132 Punkten herunter. Nicht ins Format passende Bilder werden mit Balken dargestellt, ein Zoomen auf dem 1,5-Zoll-Display ist nicht möglich. So bleibt die Funktion trotz der hohen Farbtiefe von 65.535 Farbtönen nur nettes Beiwerk: So manches Handy-Display ist größer und eignet sich besser als digitales Taschenalbum. Schade eigentlich, das Display des iPod ist scharf und recht leuchtstark.

Mäuse-Album Apples iPod-Produktmanagerin Danika Cleary bestätigte im Rahmen der Veranstaltung, dass auch beim iPod nano der Akku fest eingebaut ist - ein Kritikpunkt, von dem Apple seit dem ersten iPod nicht abrückt. Laut Cleary soll es aber auch wie bei den bisherigen Produkten ein Akku-Austauschprogramm geben. Die Kosten für eine neue Zelle sollen dabei "dem Produkt angepasst werden". Einen konkreten Betrag wollte die Managerin nicht nennen, ließ sich aber zumindest auf "unter 100 Euro" ein. Im Vergleich mit Handys oder Digitalkameras scheinen da aber eher weniger als 50,- Euro vertretbar - 100 Euro für einen neuen nano-Akku würden beim 2-GByte-Modell der Hälfte des Kaufpreises entsprechen.Dabei sollte man aber bedenken, dass bei der von Apple versprochenen Laufzeit von 14 Stunden der Akku des iPod nano weit weniger schnell abgenutzt sein dürfte als etwa der eines Handys. Dennoch altern Lithium-Ionen-Zellen und spätestens nach fünf Jahren hat sich die Kapazität bei den meisten Akkus halbiert. Doch ob des Schnuckelfaktors neuer Apple-Produkte werden sich viele trendbewusste Käufer dann ohnehin nach dem aktuellen Modell umsehen. [von Nico Ernst]

Ricoh stellt mit der Caplio R3 eine neue Digital-Kompaktkamera vor, die sich vor allem durch ein doppelt einziehbares, 7,1faches Zoom-Objektiv mit einem Brennweitenbereich von 28 bis 200 mm (beim Kleinbildformat) und eine Bildstabilisierungsfunktion auszeichnet. Ricoh Caplio R3Im Transportzustand ist die Kamera dabei nur 26 mm dick. Auf der Kamera-Rückseite prangt ein 2,5-Zoll-LCD-Monitor mit 114.000 Pixeln Auflösung. Die Anfangsblendenöffnungen liegen bei F3,3 im Weitwinkel und F4,8 im Telebereich. Der CCD-Bildsensor bietet eine Auflösung von 5,13 Megapixeln. Erspürt die Kamera-Elektronik Verwackelungen, verschiebt die Bildstabilisierungsfunktion den CCD-Bildsensor in entgegengesetzter Richtung, um der Verwacklung entgegenzuwirken.

ASUS G73SJ Battery

The last time we reviewed a ThinkPad T series was the ThinkPad T410 back in December 2010. In terms of design, nothing's really changed. The ThinkPad T420 is heavy, at 5.2 pounds for a 14-inch laptop, and its body is nearly 1.2-inch thick. Even so, the T420 isn't as hard to heft as you'd expect based on how it looks. What you gain here is durability, port selection, and a surprisingly good mix of speed and battery life. With its slightly faster-than-average Core i5-2520M CPU, the T420 rivaled Core i5 competitors in our benchmark tests, and the included Nvidia graphics are good enough to play a game like Street Fighter IV at medium settings. The battery life topped 7 hours in our CNET tests, besting the Apple MacBook Pro.As you'd expect, the ThinkPad T420's keyboard is very comfortable: it's the Lincoln Town Car of keyboards, or a comfy orthotic shoe. It may not be sexy, but damned if it isn't a great keyboard for writing. However, the plethora of additional and strangely laid-out function and teleconferencing buttons can overwhelm. The Esc and Delete keys are large, vertical, and elevated above the rest of the keyboard. That's odd, too, but not if you use ThinkPads. Overall, it feels like a command center, and clearly was meant to be thought of as such.

The touch pad isn't very wide for multitouch, but its stippled surface has great traction and sensitivity. Too many buttons above and below the pad may be good for accuracy in tight quarters like on planes, but they cramp the pad's real estate. Multitouch gestures are tough to pull off. Out of curiosity, I gave that red rubber trackpoint another try. I have to admit, there's something to appreciate in the trackpoint's simple efficiency, even its accuracy, but it's not for everyone, and the rubber point can throw off a hunt-and-peck touch-typer such as myself.Again, this is clearly a laptop made for those who don't want change, who want a laptop that looks the same on the outside as a product from several years ago. If you want change, get a ThinkPad Edge. At least the T420's extra vertical thickness has been well-used to stack ports--a DisplayPort sits above a USB 2.0 port on one side, while USB ports and SD card/ExpressCard slots are stacked on the other.

ThinkPads have always boasted good displays, and the matte-finish 14-inch display on this model was crisp and bright and easy to read. The 1,600x900-pixel resolution is a step up from the standard, offering finer text resolution and more screen real estate, without shrinking icons or menus too much. It also costs $50 as an upgrade over the standard 1,366x768-pixel display. The T420's hinges open the screen up a full 180 degrees from the base for extra flexibility. The stereo speakers are fine for videoconferencing or office functions, but this isn't a wonderful movie-watching laptop. Streaming Netflix movies looked a little washed-out. Then again, you're not supposed to be using a work laptop like this for movies and games, are you? (In case you're curious, Street Fighter IV did play astonishingly well using the T420's Nvidia Optimus NVS 4200M graphics, running at 39.8 frames per second at native 1,600x900 resolution.)

A high-def 1,280x720 Webcam and included audio optimization settings give the ThinkPad T420 a better-than-average set of teleconferencing tools, although most laptops these days are more than capable of some basic Skype, especially if you wear a headset with a mike. That 720p Webcam, however, is a $30 upgrade that came standard in our configuration.The ThinkPad T420 is flush with ports that would make any owner of older legacy equipment gleam: three USB 2.0 ports (one of them powered), one USB 2.0/eSATA combo, VGA, DisplayPort, mini FireWire, and even an ExpressCard slot. However, it lacks USB 3.0 and HDMI, both of which are more useful in modern work environments.The ThinkPad T420 offers a number of upgrade options, including some nickel-and-dime upgrades ($20 extra for Bluetooth, $20 for a fingerprint reader, $30 for an HD Webcam, $55 extra for WiMax, $50 for a 1,600x900-pixel display as opposed to 1,366x768 pixels) that can add up quickly. The base T420 comes with a second-gen Intel Core i3 processor, but can be upgraded to our version's Core i5, and even higher to a 2.8GHz Core i7-2640M, which will cost an extra $190 over our midrange model. RAM can be upgraded to 8GB, and you can choose a 500GB hard drive of 5,400rpm or 7,200rpm, or a solid-state drive (SSD) of 128GB for an extra $170, or 160GB for $200.

For the T420, the inside is what counts, and its specs and performance live up to what you'd expect in a mainstream laptop. Its performance closely matched the Dell XPS 14z with a Core i7 CPU, despite our version of the T420 only having a 2.5GHz Core i5-2520M processor. This is a second-generation Sandy Bridge CPU, not one of the upcoming Ivy Bridge processors. It would be more than enough for anyone looking to do some office multitasking.The included Nvidia Optimus graphics aren't earth-shattering, but provide a nice boost over integrated Intel graphics. They're enough for moderate graphics work and even some gaming.Ultrabook city is booming, with every computer manufacturer arriving in town on the back of an Intel-powered cart, hoping to strike a rich vein of laptop gold.Never one to be left out of a goldrush, Toshiba has thrown together the Z830 -- a slim and very light laptop with a more understated look that would suit the travelling prospector professional. But will it offer enough to take the shine off the glittering gem that is Asus Zenbook UX31?

Our model came with an Intel Core i5 processor and 6GB of RAM. It's available now for £1,000. The Z830 is instantly recognisable as part of the ultrabook gang due to its extremely svelte physique. At a mere 8.3mm at the front, it's certainly a very slim machine and at 17mm at the rear, it's one of the slimmest laptops available.This tiny size means you can do away with carrying a bulky laptop bag around with you, as it will easily slide into the most slender of messenger-style bags, nestling comfortably against your notepads without causing any embarrassing bulges.With a weight of only 1.1kg, it's very light too, undercutting the weight of the Asus UX31 by 200g and making the Z830 a light traveller's dream. The weight reduction has mostly been made in the chassis -- Toshiba has constructed the Z830 from magnesium, rather than the aluminium used on the UX31.Sadly, that has resulted in the build quality of the Z830 seeming somewhat less than perfect. The lid is extremely thin, offering a frightening amount of flex -- something that isn't present at all in the aluminium UX31. There's flex in the keyboard tray too, making the whole machine feel much less sturdy than we'd like.

Toshiba has obviously settled on a trade-off between weight and build materials, and it's done an admirable job in reducing the weight, but we'd definitely like it to be firmed up in places. The keyboard is made up of square, isolated keys that are spaced well across the chassis resulting in a comfortable typing experience. We were able to type for long periods without feeling the tell-tale aches we'd experience on less comfortable keyboards. If you're planning on bashing out some long documents for work, rest assured it won't be the keyboard that slows you down.The trackpad is very responsive, which makes for a swift web-browsing experience, but it's pretty small -- considerably smaller than the clickable trackpads found on the UX31 or the 13-inch Apple MacBook Air. The two buttons are easy to click and if you really need more freedom in your scrolling, you can just hook up a USB mouse.

On the looks front, the Z830 doesn't have the same sleek, stylish appeal of the UX31 or the Air, but it's still pretty smart. It's perhaps more appropriate in a professional, business environment than its flashier ultrabook brethren.Unlike the Zenbooks and the Air, the Z830 is only available with a 13.3-inch screen, so if you're after an 11-inch model to whisk away on your travels, you're out of luck. 11-inch machines are less of a necessity in the professional realm, as long documents and spreadsheets are easier to edit with a larger screen, so it's understandable Toshiba hasn't opted for a smaller size.What's less forgivable though is the relatively poor resolution on offer. The Z830's 13.3-inch display has a resolution of 1,366x768 pixels -- fairly standard for a laptop of this size, but both the UX31 and 13-inch MacBook Air offer 1,600x900-pixel screens. It's a shame Toshiba hasn't tried to keep in step with the competition.Tosh has given it a matte coating though, which significantly reduces reflections, making it great for use under bright lights or direct sunlight. It does mean, however, that the screen lacks the punchy colours and depth of glossy displays, resulting in pictures that often look quite washed out. If you want to catch up on some Hannah Montana while you're away, the Z830 isn't going to do them much justice. Shame.

Announced today, the Thinkpad X220 convertible tablet/notebook will join Lenovo's upcoming X220 notebook. Both products are the latest additions to the company's X series of ultraportable notebooks and tablet/notebooks with 12.5-inch screens, and both are slated to reach store shelves next month.The X220 convertible starts at $1,199, while the notebook's starting price is $899. Though Lenovo is targeting both computers to individuals as well as companies, they are designed primarily for business users.Outfitted with Sandy Bridge, the X220 convertible offers a choice of an i3, i5, or i7 processor. Buyers can opt for either a solid state drive with up to 160GB of storage or a conventional hard drive with up to 320GB. Memory can go as high as 8GB. It weighs in at 3.88 pounds.Like the notebook, the X220 convertible includes three USB ports, with one designed as an always-on port so people can charge a phone or other device without powering up the computer. A 720p HD Webcam, digital microphone, and an Intel Wi-Fi/WiMax adapter are included as well.

Notable to both the convertible and the notebook are sharp boosts in battery life. The X220 notebook offers 15 hours of battery life with a 9-cell battery--and up to 23 hours when a 6-cell external battery pack is added. The battery life on the convertible is lower, but it still offers 9 hours of life with a 6-cell battery--and 16 hours by adding on the 6-cell external pack.The convertible's predecessor, the X201, offers 3.5 hours of battery life with a four-cell battery and 7.9 hours with an eight-cell battery.Preston Taylor, worldwide product marketing manager for Lenovo's ThinkPad brand, said in an interview that Lenovo relied on both Intel and its own team to coax the boost in battery life over previous models. The enhanced power management found in Intel's Sandy Bridge architecture accounted for about 50 percent of the increase in battery life. But the other 50 percent came directly from Lenovo.Lenovo designed both the convertible and the notebook to dial down or completely turn off unused components to focus on the energy required by the components in use. One example cited by Taylor: if people are streaming videos or music over the Web, they're not using the computer for much else, so there's no need for the hard drive to keep spinning or for some of the ports to keep drawing juice.

El Centro Cultural de Punta Umbría acogió ayer la presentación de la primera novela de José Luis Morgollón, 'Tras la huella del buscón'. El autor, conocido por su experiencia en el teatro, cambia ahora de registro utilizando su experiencia profesional y mezclando esos recursos con el cine y "un lenguaje que bebe de los clásicos de la literatura española”, según argumenta Morgollón, quien confiesa que "hace algo más de un año me determiné por escribir una novela. Estaba leyendo 'El Buscón' de Francisco de Quevedo y quise trasladar la historia de los pícaros de esa época, esas travesuras tan divertidas, a mitad del siglo XX haciendo un parangón”. 'Tras la huella del buscón' cuenta la historia de una gran productora americana que viene a España para hacer una película del citado clásico de Quevedo. Como el director quería hacer el largometraje con personajes de la calle, no con actores, busca a un pícaro real como protagonista y lo pone con una americana a viajar por ahí. De este modo, el lector conoce el castizo Madrid, las ferias de provincias, el mundo de los teatros portátiles, los entresijos de las grandes coproducciones de cine... a bordo de un espectacular Cadillac.

En palabras de José Luis Morgollón, "es un libro muy divertido con anécdotas graciosas, con una historia de amor y alguna pincelada dramática”.El escritor fue presentado por Francisco Rodríguez Cermeño, que repasó su biografía. Recordó que Morgollón, hijo de un maestro de Punta Umbría en los años 50, hizo estudios de Magisterio pero, "como eran tiempos duros para la profesión, se fue a Madrid a la aventura”. Allí se hizo un hueco en el teatro hasta convertirse en uno de los regidores más importantes de España.Cuando surgen las autonomías y se dispersa el talento teatral por el país, antes centrado en la capital, él marchó a Sevilla coincidiendo con la Expo. Después recaló en Punta Umbría, donde tenía la casa de su padre, y se centró en la promoción cultural del Ayuntamiento puntaumbrieño "organizando actividades, charlas y obras de teatro, consiguiendo dinamizar la vida del pueblo”. Pasando este periodo, empezó a trabajar en una empresa de promoción de eventos. Abandonó entonces Punta Umbría y se instaló a la Sierra de Huelva, siguiendo su actividad de promoción cultural y estando cerca de Extremadura, con la que tiene muchos vínculos. Por último, regresa a tierras puntaumbrieñas y se embarca en la escritura de este libro.

Para dar a conocer la novela, Morgollón va a presentarla por distintas ciudades y pueblos, con una charla divertida: 'Aquellos cómicos... una forma de vivir', a modo de introducción al mundo la obra.La actividad `Café con ciencia´ ha abierto este lunes la programación, que incluye además la visita al planetario portátil, talleres científicos, proyecciones, conferencias y visita a museos.La vicerrectora de Investigación, Postgrado y Relaciones Internacionales, Regla Fernández, junto al director de la Oficina de Transferencia de Resultados de la Investigación (OTRI), Miguel Ángel Delgado, han inaugurado este lunes la XIII edición de la Semana de la Ciencia y la Tecnología, que se desarrollará durante toda la semana y que está organizada por la Universidad de Huelva, a través de la Unidad de Cultura Científica. El citado evento tiene como objetivo dar a conocer a toda la sociedad el patrimonio científico del que dispone la Onubense y cómo su producción científica se pone al servicio de la sociedad en la que se integra. Este año, las actividades organizadas dentro de la programación girarán en torno a un eje central: el agua, por ser 2013 el Año Internacional de la Cooperación en la Esfera del Agua, por lo que buena parte de las iniciativas que se van a desarrollar estarán centradas en este elemento.

‘Café con Ciencia’, talleres científicos, visitas a los distintos museos y laboratorios de la Universidad, concursos, conferencias o un ciclo de cine son algunas de las propuestas que se realizarán durante la semana. La semana ha comenzado con la actividad ‘Café con Ciencia’, en la que en la que 130 alumnos de 1º y 2º de Bachillerato, distribuidos en nueve mesas, han compartido un desayuno con investigadores de diferentes áreas de conocimiento para conversar de forma distendida sobre su trabajo y su carrera científica. Asimismo, durante toda la semana pueden realizarse visitas a los museos ubicados en el Campus de El Carmen: el Museo Pedagógico, en la Facultad Ciencias de la Educación; el Museo Mineralógico, en el Edificio de Investigación Marie Curie o el Centro de Interpretación Arqueológica 'Huelva, Ciudad Milenaria', ubicado en el Cabezo de La Almagra. De igual forma, durante estos días se repetirán actividades ya clásicas como la visita al planetario portátil, instalado en el edificio Galileo, que estará abierto desde mañana martes y hasta el jueves día 7, a través del cual los alumnos pueden realizar un viaje por las estrellas. También mañana martes comenzarán los talleres científicos, en los que los investigadores presentarán de forma dinámica una pequeña muestra de la labor que se desarrolla en los laboratorios universitarios.

Habrá un total de nueve, en los que estarán representadas todas las áreas de investigación. En esta edición, continua el ciclo de cine ‘Cineciencia’, que se desarrollará entre los días 5 y 8, en la Facultad de Ciencias Experimentales, donde se proyectarán los siguientes documentales de divulgación científica realizados por la Universidad de Zaragoza: ‘Montañas de agua’, ‘¿Es tan difícil abrir una puerta?’, ‘Santiago Ramón y Cajal. Viajes, fotografía y memorias’, ‘El Ave Fénix de la terapia, medicina regenerativa’ y ‘El oro saludable’. El día 6 tendrá lugar el seminario técnico ‘La aplicación de la Directiva Marco de Aguas ante el horizonte del 2015’, en el que se realizará una valoración del estado en el que se encuentra esta normativa. Por otro lado, el día 7 se celebrará la conferencia ‘Impactos y meteoritos: claves para el estudio del origen y la evolución del Sistema Solar’, que impartirá el Profesor José María Madiedo. Por último, el día 8, con la colaboración del Aula de Sostenibilidad de la Universidad de Huelva, el investigador Adolfo Muñoz ofrecerá una ruta guiada por el Campus de El Carmen con el fin de dar a conocer las características botánicas de su paisaje. La Semana de la Ciencia incluye también concursos de divulgación científica como el concurso de twitter ‘La ciencia en un Tweet: El agua’, dirigido al público en general; el concurso de fotografía ’20 años de investigación’, para investigadores de la Universidad de Huelva; el concurso de dibujo infantil ‘Ciencia en un Trazo’, destinado a estudiantes de 6 a 12 años de Centros de Enseñanza de la provincia de Huelva o el concurso de microcortos ‘Rodando Ciencia’, también para el público en general. Del mismo modo, habrá exposiciones sobre posters científicos y sobre la Historia de la Ciencia. La Junta Local de Seguridad ha ultimado los detalles de un dispositivo que integran más de un centenar de efectivos, entre seguridad, protección civil, servicio médico, bomberos, Cruz Roja y personal municipal de limpieza y mantenimiento. Se instalará un centro de coordinación de emergencias y servicios, en las aulas de formación de la Ulopa, y se ampliará la presencia sanitaria en el recinto.

La Junta Local de Seguridad ha cerrado el dispositivo de seguridad y servicios que el Ayuntamiento de Cartaya pondrá en marcha de cara a la próxima celebración de la 50 Feria de Octubre de la localidad, que se desarrollará entre el 2 y el 6 del citado mes. Este dispositivo contará con una media diaria de más de un centenar de efectivos entre Policía Local, Guardia Civil, Protección Civil, Servicio Médico, bomberos, personal municipal de Obras y Servicios y, por primera vez, Cruz Roja. Todos ellos tendrán presencia permanente en el recinto, donde se habilitará un Centro de Coordinación de Servicios, ubicado en las aulas de formación de la Ulopa, y desde el que se dirigirá el dispositivo de Seguridad y el operativo de Obras y Servicios municipal. Precisamente la principal novedad de este año estará en la presencia de Cruz Roja, con una ambulancia y un equipo sanitario que integran un médico y un ATS, y que viene a reforzar el que habitualmente habilita el Consistorio y que integran otros dos sanitarios. Asimismo, y siguiendo la línea marcada en la última edición del certamen, se adoptarán medidas de carácter preventivo que, según ha destacado el concejal de Seguridad Ciudadana, Domingo Crespo, "redundarán en beneficio de la seguridad de todos”, como promover la instalación de extintores en las casetas.

Son algunos de los acuerdos adoptados en una reunión extraordinaria con motivo de la celebración de la feria y fiestas patronales a la que han asistido, además del responsable municipal de seguridad, los concejales de Obras y Servicios, Ramón Barbosa; Ferias, Pedro J. Benítez y Fiestas, Manuel Barroso; y los máximos responsables de las fuerzas y cuerpos de Seguridad. Este dispositivo se reforzará en los considerados como momentos de mayor riesgo con una mayor presencia de efectivos en el recinto y también con el refuerzo de la seguridad en el resto del casco urbano. Otro de los puntos de especial vigilancia, será un año más, el entorno de la travesía de la Nacional 431 a su paso por la localidad, especialmente en el Cruce de Consolación, donde se habilitará un único punto para el tránsito de los ciudadanos que se dirijan al Salón de la Automoción y la Naútica y donde habrá presencia policial en los momentos de máxima afluencia al recinto. Por su parte, el concejal de Obras y Servicios, Ramón Barbosa, aseguró que "se pondrá en marcha también un dispositivo municipal para garantizar los servicios en el Recinto Ferial”. Así, se habilitarán servicios portátiles en el entorno del mismo, se reforzará la limpieza, especialmente en los aseos y también con la presencia de una unidad móvil permanente; y se habilitarán nuevas zonas de contenedores para el depósito de los residuos.

Asimismo, se acondicionarán zonas de aparcamiento en el entorno del recinto y puntos de acceso para personas con problemas de movilidad, con el objetivo de garantizar el acceso de todos los ciudadanos a la feria. También se pondrá en marcha un dispositivo de identificación mediante pases y acreditaciones para los residentes, expositores y feriantes; y se habilitará una única entrada al recinto para la carga y descarga, la situada junto a las atracciones.El objetivo de este dispositivo, no es otro, según Crespo, que "intentar garantizar en la medida de lo posible la seguridad y el que la fiesta transcurra sin incidentes de importancia”. Para ello, desde el Consistorio se ha pedido, un año más, la colaboración ciudadana.Estos robos cometidos tenían como objetivos preferenciales joyas de oro y material informático y de electrónica, debido a la fácil salida que estos productos tienen en el mercado negro. El total de objetos que fueron sustraídos y denunciados alcanzaron la cifra de 45.530 euros.Agentes del Puesto de Cartaya, pertenecientes a la Comandancia de la Guardia Civil de Huelva, han procedido a la detención de C.M.P., de F.E.A.; de J.H.V.; de P.S.B.; de I.V.G.; y de C.G.G., vecinos de las localidades de Huelva y Cartaya, como presuntos autores de un delito continuado de robo con fuerza en las cosas.

Las detenciones se han realizado de forma escalonada durante los últimos días, a medida que se iban concretando los últimos detalles de la investigación que se inició a principios del presente año, cuando se produjo el primero de los robos cometidos por este grupo.Concretamente se produjeron dos robos en el mes de enero, tres robos en el mes de febrero, un robo en abril, y cuatro robos en el mes de mayo. Estos robos eran cometidos en el interior de viviendas, y cuyo objetivo era preferentemente el de llevarse joyas de oro y material informático y de electrónica, debido a la fácil salida que estos productos tienen en el mercado negro. El total de objetos que fueron sustraídos y denunciados alcanzaron la cifra de 45.530 euros.De estos objetos sustraídos, los agentes que han desarrollado la investigación han conseguido recuperar joyas, ordenadores portátiles, cámaras fotográficas y otros efectos que, una vez reseñados serán devueltos a sus propietarios, aunque de una parte significativa de los mismos ya se habían desprendido.

Battery information and statistics can be found in the "Power" section in the System Profiler utility. These levels along with other statistics such as charge status, number of cycles, and other information are stored in the battery and are just reported to the computer. This information can be found in the System Profiler utility (available in the Utilities folder, or by selecting "About this Mac" in the Apple menu and then clicking "More Info..."). In System Profiler there is a Hardware section, and if you click the Power subsection, then you will see battery statistics (number of full charges, charge status, capacities, remaining capacity, etc.)While it is most common to use the computer to calibrate the battery, this technically can be done by any system that will charge it up fully, and then drain it fully. It plans to expand its laptop battery manufacturing and move into different product categories, including mobile gadget chargers and transportation.When I reviewed the last Vaio SA configuration, the Vaio SA21GX/BL back in the summer of 2011, I certainly appreciated the size and weight of this trim 13-incher. In a chassis slightly lighter than a MacBook Pro, the Vaio SA included a DVD drive and dedicated AMD graphics in a package with plenty of customizable upgrades (Blu-ray, SSD). Unfortunately, the price of the higher-end Vaio SA started at over $1,000 and got progressively higher from there. Also, while the Vaio SA has an optional slice-style sheet battery that doubles up on run time away from an outlet, the thick $150 add-on isn't as ideal a solution as a better integrated battery.

The early 2012 version of the Vaio SA--the Vaio SA41FX/BL--is pretty similar to last year's model: same AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics, same screen and chassis build. Slightly upgraded processors are the only real change. Sadly, the price hasn't seen a big drop: the entry-level Vaio SA is $1,029. Now, a note to Vaio S shoppers: there is a more affordable model Vaio S, known as the Vaio SB, without the bells and whistles of our SA version, starting at $799 with a Core i3 processor. In our Vaio S, the price bump reflects a better Core i5 processor, faster graphics, a higher-res 1,600x900-pixel screen, a fingerprint reader, HD Webcam, and optional SSD storage and mobile broadband. Basically, the Vaio SA is the pro version of the Vaio SB. Why Sony needed to make the decision so confusing is anyone's guess.

In early 2012, the real disconnect I have with the Vaio S is simple: its battery life runs a bit too short for my tastes, and the price seems high. Otherwise, the Vaio SA might be a laptop worth looking into if you don't care for an ultrabook, or crave an optical drive (better yet, check out the Vaio SB and compare specs). At first glance, the Vaio S owes a lot to the design aesthetic of the more expensive Vaio Z. Some people sitting in coffee shops might even assume this is a Z. Angled edges and a slim profile look nearly identical to the Vaio Z we reviewed recently. The all-metal aluminum case over a magnesium alloy frame is sturdy, but it's so lightweight that it can fool you into thinking it feels slightly flimsy.One thing the Vaio S isn't is an ultrabook. It is a pound lighter than the MacBook Pro, but a bit heavier than the HP Folio 13 or Toshiba Portege--certainly easily portable, but nowhere near the wafer-thin sexiness of ultrabook 13-inchers. It's a tweener, but soon enough regular laptops will all start off as thin as this Vaio S.

The Vaio S actually comes in two model variations: Sony decided to bifurcate the line a little with the confusingly named SA and SB, positioned at lower- and higher-end starting prices. The Vaio SB comes in five colors--blue, pink, red, white and black--and starts with more scaled-back specs (Core i3/i5), whereas the Vaio SA comes in jet black, carbon fiber black, or platinum silver and has higher-end CPU options (Core i5/i7) and better AMD Radeon graphics. If you're shopping on Sony's Web site, it's best to do the comparing and contrasting yourself.The similarities to the Vaio Z continue in the interior of the Vaio S; the raised keyboard and a dedicated row of launch buttons feel extremely similar. The hinge, however, is different. On the Vaio S, a chromed center-connected hinge floats near the middle of the laptop's back end, adding a more retro-angled feel to the design. The upper lid demonstrates a flexy feel when opening and closing, just like it did with last year's Vaio S. The hinge feels better than before, tighter, with opening and closing action smooth but stiff at any angle. The Vaio SA's lid opens up to a wider-than-average angle, past the standard 45 degrees, offering some better visibility when lap-typing or working at a low desk.

A large palm-rest area frames an otherwise normal-size touch pad. Its smooth surface responded better than the average to multitouch gestures and motions; tucked beneath is a pair of discrete buttons that run right to the front edge. Between them is a small fingerprint sensor, which can be programmed to store passwords for extra security. The wide keyboard features island-style keys with plenty of space between. The keys are set in a slightly recessed tray, leaving the tops of the keys about flush with the palm rest below. Like Apple's keyboards (and unlike many other Windows laptops), the Enter/Shift keys are unencumbered by any added column of awkward keys on the right side, which makes typing a lot less cramped. The Vaio S's keyboard is backlit, a welcome addition for low lighting. On our black-colored unit, the key backlighting worked perfectly (I remember that on the Platinum version it created some key visibility issues from all the reflective silver).

The hard lines and extra buttons lend the whole laptop a bit of a throwback feel, but--especially in the black model--it comes off as somewhat timeless and attractive. One thing I didn't like? "Stamina/Speed." Sony seems to love to add specific Assist, Web, and Vaio keys above the keyboards of many Vaios like this one, but the dedicated keys are largely unnecessary. A physical Stamina/Speed performance switch on the upper left feels like a joke (after all, don't we want stamina and speed at the same time?), but is essentially a graphics on/off switch with processor turbo boost. The included AMD Radeon graphics don't switch off and on automatically, and this is the Vaio S' method of balancing power consumption. The physical switch is clunky: programs have to be quit and the laptop briefly flickers as its mode is switched. We're so used to automatic graphics just as those on Apple's laptops or Nvidia Optimus-equipped notebooks that we found this option off-putting.

The 13.3-inch matte screen is better than most, with strong viewing angles and crisp, bright color. The Vaio SA comes standard with a 1,600x900-pixel resolution screen (the less expensive Vaio SB has a 1,366x768-pixel display). It might seem excessive on a 13-inch laptop, but it's not; the added screen real estate is a workflow optimizer, fitting more programs onscreen at once. Text still remains largely readable, if on the condensed side.The built-in stereo speakers sounded solid, and louder than we expected to hear. I wouldn't say the Vaio S is an ideal media laptop, but it's a pretty sharp way to consume videos on the go--and if you've decided to upgrade to Blu-ray and a higher-res screen, this adds up to one of the most compact media-friendly 13-inchers I've seen.

¿Quiénes son sus escritores de referencia? R.- Pues tengo varios autores tanto en literatura como en cine. El expresionismo alemán, el cine negro, ese de sombrero y gabardina, la típica película policiaca del género como El Halcón Maltés, cosas así. Mis referencias en cuanto a literatura ‘noir’, son Raymond Chandler y Dashiell Hammet. Me gusta mucho Pérez Reverte, Zafón, también Edgar Allan Poe, que es lo que siempre he leído relacionado género fantástico y de terror. El Parque Moret tose y esputa aquejado del virulento ataque bacteriológico del olvido institucional y el incivismo, dos cepas mortíferas y contagiosas con consecuencias devastadoras. El pulmón verde de Huelva padece fibrosis quística desde hace tiempo. El gen defectuoso causante de esta tozuda y resistente enfermedad, inherente en nuestro sistema, reside en el cromosoma político y burocrático, el eslabón débil y atrofiado de la cadena de ADN onubense.

Esta patología genera en el cuerpo humano la acumulación abundante y peligrosa de un líquido espeso en las paredes de las vías respiratorias, de nefasto efecto para el organismo. Las calles del casco urbano pronto van a alumbrar nuevos vestigios de los Tartessos tras quedar profundamente erosionado el pavimento. Dar cera, pulir cera y vuelta a empezar, en las dependencias de la ‘casa de los onubenses’ tendrán que cambiar el cuadro del destronado rey Juan Carlos para poner uno del señor Miyagi, como maestro y mentor en los menesteres del trapo y la bayeta; Felipe aún tendrá que hacer méritos para ganarse su lugar en el despacho del alcalde.

El PP profetiza un contrato de adjudicación de la limpieza y mantenimiento de repercusiones bíblicas para fechas venideras, lo cual no sabemos en qué se traducirá. Quizás opten por habilitar ambientadores con temporizador en las esquinas de la Gran Vía, máquinas expendedoras de bolsas de tela de cachemir para recoger los excrementos caninos en la calle Rábida, papeleras inteligentes en la Palmera, wáteres portátiles para las palomas en los árboles de la plaza de las Monjas o por una cruzada antichicles pegados en el mobiliario urbano, con pelotones de vigilancia las 24 horas del día. Las posibilidades son ilimitadas. Aunque quizás sea momento de sacudir la alfombra bajo la que se ha ido empujando y escondiendo disimuladamente el desdén de una administración muy aseada, pero únicamente con aquello que alcanza su corta vista. The glass multitouch touch pad is a bit small and has dedicated buttons beneath instead of a clickpad-style interface, but it's otherwise responsive and offers a similar level of traction to Apple's clickpads. One drawback: with frequent use, the black touch pad developed a patch of oily fingerprint smudges that were hard to remove. We're not saying all parts of the U260 experience smell of roses, however: we found the IdeaPad U260's boot-up time and general responsiveness to be sluggish compared with other laptops, which is largely because of the CULV Intel processor, which operates at a lower clock speed. We also weren't wild about the annoying smiley face icon called the Lenovo Smile Dock that kept appearing onscreen, which launched a toolbar with various program shortcuts. The toolbar can be deactivated, but it's a nuisance. Pop-up virus software warnings and other preinstalled bloatware spam occur in other Windows laptops, too, but in a premium product like the U260 it comes off as tacky.

The glossy, 16:9 LED-backlit 12.5-inch display on the IdeaPad U260 has a native resolution of 1,366x768 pixels, which is standard for most midsize laptops. The screen's unique size sounds jarring at first, but in use it feels nearly the same as a 13-inch. Icons and text were easy to read, and videos and pictures played back with vivid color and brightness.The stereo speakers embedded in grilles above the keyboard had decent enough sound for the U260's size, but weren't notably excellent. The 0.3-megapixel Webcam has a maximum image resolution of 640x480 pixels, and comes packed with Cyberlink YouCam software. It's a standard Webcam with no premium functionality.The IdeaPad U260 has Bluetooth, but only two USB 2.0 ports along its edges. The sparse collection of ports is a bit of a letdown: there is room for more, especially since the U260 lacks an optical drive. We were surprised that the U260 lacks an SD card slot, too; even 10-inch Lenovo Netbooks come with SD card compatibility.

The IdeaPad U260 has a limited number of configurations, with a choice of a 1.33GHz Intel Core i3-380UM CPU or a 1.33GHz Core i5-470UM CPU. Our review unit was the top-of-the-line $1,049 version, in Clementine Orange, with 4GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive. Opting for Mocha Brown and the Core i3 CULV processor will save you a few hundred dollars, at $899; and all configurations come with the same hard drive and RAM. Lenovo currently has an additional promotion on its site to save an extra $200 off certain U260 models, which could be worth your while if you're thinking of picking one up. At $699 to $799, we feel a lot more bullish about this laptop's value proposition.The Core i5-470UM CPU is one we've seen before, in the Dell Vostro V130. The Vostro is a similarly sized 13-inch laptop with an appealingly thin portable frame, but poor battery life. The IdeaPad U260, though boasting a better battery life, doesn't fare all that much differently. Intel's CULV processors aren't to be confused with their similarly branded standard-voltage siblings. While a "normal" standard-voltage Core i5 is great for most everyday use, the lower-performing, energy-saving Core i5-470UM CULV in this laptop feels sluggish on boot-ups, and though it will perform most everyday tasks well (and far better than any Netbook), including HD video streaming, its benchmark speeds lag well behind most mainstream 13-inch laptops. If you consider the IdeaPad U260 an ultraportable, it will likely exceed your expectations as a computer. If you consider it a full-fledged laptop, you may be disappointed.

The IdeaPad U260 has integrated Intel graphics, which allow for basic casual games and HD video playback, but won't satisfy anyone looking to edit or create high-res videos or play more graphically intensive mainstream games. This laptop doesn't yet feature Intel's new Sandy Bridge processors, which offer more-robust integrated graphics.The 10.1-inch N230 is the latest in the N-series netbook line-up. It packs a choice of Intel Atom 1.66GHz N450 or 1.83GHz N470 processor, with integrated graphics. It packs either 160 or 250GB hard drives.The case is a mix of glossy, matte and patterned black, with a chiclet keyboard and trackpad. Connect to other devices with Bluetooth 3, the Web with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi or optional 3G, and Samsung cameras and televisions via DLNA.There are two battery options: one giving 7 hours, or a larger one with a whopping 13.8 hours of power. That's enough to watch a whole series of Doctor Who or get you through a flight to another continent.We have to admit that when Toshiba told us it was announcing a brand new product that wasn't quite a laptop, and wasn't quite a smartphone, we fully expected them to unveil a tablet PC -- something along the lines of the Dell Streak perhaps? But instead we got the AC100 -- an laptop that runs Android and makes some big promises when it comes to battery life and portability. Read on to check out our hands-on photos and our first impressions on this curious new machine...

Well, there you have it -- the AC100. Toshiba reckons that by combining the functionality of a high-end smartphone with the usability of a netbook, it can create something that's actually really good at web browsing, networking and editing your documents on the move.As you can see, it's sporting a bee-like black and yellow finish, a great big keyboard and a 10.1-inch screen. The starting weight is 870g, so it's looking to be plenty portable. Right -- let's get down to the photo-analysis... As you can see, the AC100 is thin. Really thin in fact -- 21 millimetres at its thickest point (the bevel) and just 14 millimetres at the front edge. On the right side of the machine you can see a USB socket, Mini USB socket and power input. Over on the other side, bear witness to an HDMI port, a 3.5mm microphone and audio combo socket and a multiformat card reader. Also witness our intrepid reporter's oddly twisted hand.That's not a huge array of ports -- we know Toshiba will be trying hard to keep weight and size down, but we can't help but think a second USB port might have been more useful than the HDMI output...

The keyboard is sensibly laid out -- we especially like the great big return key and proper direction arrows. These things are normally the first casualty of space-saving when it comes to laptops. Also note the rubber texture on the wrist-rest -- we found that to be pretty comfy.Likewise we were pleased with how the trackpad responded -- pleasingly sensitive and nicely textured, it made navigating the AC100's various menus rather pleasant. This is the 10.1-inch LED Backlit display, with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels. It looked pretty sharp to our discerning eyes, and crucially we didn't notice too many reflections. You've probably noticed that curious interface -- that's because the AC100 is running... Android 2.1! Yes -- check the firmware version on-screen right there. Android is best known as the Operating System de rigueur for smartphones like the HTC Desire and tablets like the Dell Streak. It looks a little out of place on a laptop screen, and we noticed a few people familiar with the system prodding ineffectually at the display, expecting to find a touchscreen...

Inside, the AC100 has an Nvidia Tegra 250 mobile processor, clocked at 1GHz -- that's the kind of processor we'd expect to find in a mobile phone. 512MB of RAM serves as the memory.Obviously that's not very much, but the operating system does look to be pretty basic, so we can't say for sure that the AC100 is slow until we get to grips with a final review model. However, with specs like these you may well find some memory-intensive websites make the AC100 a little wheezy.For hoarding your precious documents and photos, you get 8GB of flash storage on-board. Build quality seemed reasonably high, though we did notice a fair degree of flex in the keyboard, as this image demonstrates. That's a bit disappointing... That black textured finish extends to the lid. What's really interesting is that Toshiba claims you'll get a massive seven days of battery-life with the AC100 on standby. Furthermore, opening the lid will pull the machine out of standby in under one second. We tested this, and it sounded like a fair claim to us -- the display popped up almost instantaneously.Just how useful the AC100 turns out to be will depend largely on whether those battery-life claims turn out to be accurate, and of course how much it costs. We'll find out when it's released in August of this year, but until then, our curiosity is most definitely piqued.

There's a fingerprint reader over on the right, for example. The keyboard and trackpad are different too -- we'll get to them in a minute. The m6's chassis is black and sports a brushed metal effect that looks neat, but clashes with the black plastic gloss that surrounds the screen.Audio comes courtesy of Beats, though unfortunately I didn't get a chance to put the m6's speakers through their paces. Don't expect much -- laptop speakers generally sounds tinny regardless of who's providing the hardware, but previous HP efforts with Beats have featured special sound programs or Windows themes so don't be surprised if there are a few software surprises in store.The Beats tie-in means there's a little lowercase 'b' on the speaker grille -- how chuffed you are about that will depend on your feelings toward the hip-hopping audio brand. There's a bit of flair elsewhere, with silver trim around the edge of the lid, and that grey-ish hue is also present on the bottom of the chassis.All things considered, this design makes a decent first impression. It's far from ugly, though it's on the plasticky side, and doesn't feel as sturdy as the aluminium-addled Envy Spectre XT.

HP promises the m6 will play host to "the latest Intel and AMD processors", while the model I was toying with featured a 750GB hard drive. Discrete graphics are an option if you plan on performing more intensive tasks like gaming or photo editing. The 15.6-inch display crams in a respectable 1,366x768 pixels, and there's a DVD drive squeezed into the m6's right flank.Increasingly laptops are shedding disc drives, prioritising a slim build instead, but if you have a big DVD collection you may appreciate the option to pop in a disc.Next to the disc drive are two USB ports, while over on the left you get Ethernet, HDMI and VGA out, a 3.5mm headphone jack and two more USB sockets. There's a webcam above the monitor for video calls.HP promises up to eight hours of battery life -- we'll be putting that claim to the test when we give the m6 the full review treatment.The keyboard on the m6 is quite large, and even though the laptop isn't that massive HP's squeezed in a number pad. Handy perhaps -- though the 'Enter' key on this laptop is looking worryingly small -- that'll doubtless see you making the odd mistake as you rattle off emails. A backlight is optional should you want to type in the dark.

In den überarbeiteten Axim-Modellen wird die WindowsCE-Version Windows Mobile 5.0 verwendet, was einem verbesserte Office-Applikationen für die Bearbeitung von Word-, Excel- und PowerPoint-Dokumenten beschert. Natürlich gehören auch PIM-Applikationen zur Termin- und Adressverwaltung sowie ein E-Mail-Client, Web-Browser und MP3-Player zum Lieferumfang.In Deutschland wird Dell den Axim X51 in den drei genannten Ausbaustufen mit deutscher Oberfläche erst zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt auf den Markt bringen. Derzeit sind die Versionen nur mit englischsprachigem Betriebssystem zu bekommen.Der Axim X51v mit VGA-Display wird dann 451,- Euro kosten, während das mittlere Modell "Axim X50 520 MHz" für 393,- Euro zu haben ist und das Einstiegsmodell "Axim X50 416 MHz" ohne WLAN im Preis bei 324,- Euro liegt. Zusätzlich fallen Versandkosten von rund 15,- Euro an.

Aldi-Süd bietet in der kommenden Woche ein Tri-Band-Handy mit Digitalkamera, MP3-Player, UKW-Radio und Speicherkartensteckplatz für miniSD-Cards zum Preis von 149,- Euro an. Das Tevion-Modell steckt in einem Gehäuse mit Schiebemechanismus, so dass es durch kompakte Maße punkten kann. Aldi-Handy Die im "Tevion Multimedia Handy" eingebaute CMOS-Digitalkamera knipst Fotos mit einer Auflösung von maximal 640 x 480 Pixeln und zeigt sie auf dem Display mit maximal 65.536 Farben. Für musikalische Unterhaltung sorgt ein eingebautes UKW-Radio sowie ein MP3-Player, der Musikstücke auch von einer Speicherkarte abspielt. Dazu bietet das 88 x 44,5 x 23 mm messende Taschentelefon einen miniSD-Card-Steckplatz.Als Tri-Band-Handy agiert das Tevion-Modell in den drei GSM-Netzen 900, 1.800 sowie 1.900 MHz und unterstützt GPRS der Klasse 10. Zu den weiteren bekannten Funktionen zählen eine Freisprechfunktion, ein Browser gemäß WAP 2.0, MMS-Funktion und drei vorinstallierte Spiele. Angaben zur Display-Auflösung, zur Größe des integrierten Speichers und zum Gewicht machte Aldi leider nicht.

Die Sprechzeit mit einer Akkuladung für das Tevion-Handy gibt Aldi mit 5 Stunden an. Im Bereitschaftsmodus muss der Akku nach rund 8 Tagen wieder an die Steckdose. Bei kontinuierlicher Nutzung des eingebauten MP3-Players werden sich die Akkulaufzeiten aber voraussichtlich entsprechend verringern.Aldi-Süd bietet das "Tevion Multimedia Handy" ab dem 26. September 2005 in seinen Filialen zum Preis von 149,- Euro ohne Vertrag an. Dem Mobiltelefon liegen ein USB-Kabel und Ohrhörer bei.Tiger Telematics hat einen Nachfolger seines dauerverspäteten, GPS- und GPRS-bestückten Spiele-PDAs Gizmondo angekündigt. Wie die konkurrierende PlayStation Portable soll der "Gizmondo Widescreen" ein breiteres LCD aufweisen, passend wurde auch die Prozessorleistung und der Speicher vergrößert. Wer bisher mit dem Gizmondo liebäugelte, musste und muss sich wohl auch in Zukunft auf das Warten einrichten - oder sich das Gerät aus Großbritannien importieren. Bisher ist es in keinem anderen europäischen Land erschienen und die immer wieder durch das Netz geisternden Termine für eine mögliche Markteinführung sind sang- und klanglos verstrichen. Auch in den USA hat es Tiger Telematics bisher nicht geschafft, das erste Gizmondo-Modell auf den Markt zu bekommen.

Anders als bei der PlayStation Portable müssen beim Gizmondo allerdings für die jeweiligen Regionen Kooperationen mit Handy-Netzbetreibern geschlossen werden, um die GSM/GPRS-Funktionen des Geräts nutzen zu können. Mit dem Gizmondo Widescreen kommt noch eine GSM-Telefonie-Funktion hinzu, die Tiger Telematics für den Vorgänger noch nicht angekündigt hatte. Damit könnte es leichter werden, den Netzbetreibern das Gerät schmackhaft zu machen. Bei der GSM-Sprachtelefonie kann auch eine Freisprechfunktion genutzt werden, dazu kommt eine Sprachsteuerung. Auch Bluetooth-Headsets können genutzt werden.

Der Gizmondo Widescreen findet nicht nur per Tri-Band-GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz), GPRS und Bluetooth Anschluss, sondern versteht sich im Unterschied zum Vorgänger auch auf WLAN (IEEE 802.11b/g). Das Nintendo DS, die PlayStation Portable - beide mit WLAN bestückt - und das glücklose Nokia N-Gage (GSM/GPRS) können mit dieser Masse an Funktechnik nicht mithalten. Über WLAN sollen Gizmondo-Widescreen-Besitzer Mehrspielerfunktionen und - falls ein Access Point zur Verfügung steht - Onlinedienste nutzen können. Damit es im Flugzeug keinen Ärger gibt, können im "Flug-Modus" alle Drahtlos-Dienste zentral deaktiviert werden.Die augenfälligste Änderung ist sicherlich das 4-Zoll-Breitbild-LCD, das mit 480 x 272 Bildpunkten die gleiche Auflösung wie das 4,3-Zoll-16:9-LCD der PSP bietet. Sollte das nicht reichen, kann der Bildschirm-Inhalt auch über einen analogen TV-Ausgang auf einem Fernseher dargestellt werden.Unter der Haube hat sich auch einiges geändert: Unter anderem soll der Prozessor - zuvor war es eine Samsung-ARM-CPU mit 400 MHz - mit laut Hersteller mindestens 500 MHz zu Werke gehen. Auch der 3D-Grafikchip soll ein besserer sein und wird vermutlich wieder von Nvidia stammen - im Vorgänger steckt ein GoForce 4500, vielleicht findet sich dann ein GoForce 4800 im Neuling.

Zudem soll der Speicher größer sein; ob das sowohl das Onboard-RAM als auch den Onboard-Flash-Speicher betrifft, ist aber noch nicht bekannt. Dazu kommen ein extern zugänglicher SD-Card-Reader und ein interner, aber vom Nutzer selbst bestückbarer Platz für die kleineren Transflash-Speicherkarten.Wie schon das erste Gerät soll auch der Gizmondo Widescreen über einen GPS-Empfänger verfügen, der sowohl mit Navigationssoftware als auch von Spielen genutzt werden kann. Auf eine 2-Megapixel-Digicam muss ebenfalls nicht verzichtet werden, sie soll gar mit Autofokus und LED-Blitz daherkommen. Auf den bis jetzt veröffentlichten ersten Bildern eines Prototyps findet sich noch der Hinweis auf eine 1,3-Megapixel-Kamera. Per USB 2.0 können Daten mit dem PC ausgetauscht werden und dank USB-On-The-Go-Unterstützung kommuniziert das Handheld auch selbst mit externen USB-Datenträgern.Gesteuert wird der Gizmondo Widescreen über zwei analoge Joysticks, einige Steuer- und Zusatztasten, per Kopfhörer mit integrierter Fernbedienung und per Sprachsteuerung. Die Tonausgabe kann auch über die Stereo-Lautsprecher des Geräts erfolgen. Bei den Multimedia-Funktionen - insbesondere bei der Audio- und Video-Wiedergabe - soll das Gizmondo Widescreen nicht hinter Sonys PSP zurückstehen. Tiger zufolge können Audiodaten in den Formaten MP3, WMA- und High Efficiency (HE) AAC sowie MPEG-4-ASP, MPEG-4-AVC- (H.264) und WMV-Videos abgespielt werden.

Zur Kommunikation mit anderen stehen neben Telefonie auch SMS, MMS, Instant-Messaging und ein E-Mail-Client zur Verfügung. Die Eingabe dürfte aber dank fehlender Stiftsteuerung nicht sonderlich bequem sein. Eingehende Nachrichten und Anrufe können auch per Vibrationsmodus signalisiert werden. Als Betriebssystem kommt Windows CE 5.0 mit DRM 10 und dem .Net compact Framework 2.0 zum Einsatz.Die technischen Daten des Gizmondo Widescreen sind zwar beeindruckend, es bleiben aber einige wichtige Fragen offen: Da wäre die Frage nach der Akkulaufzeit des Geräts, denn bisher verschwieg der Hersteller noch, wie lange der Lithium-Ionen-Akku durchhalten wird. Auch in Bezug auf das Gewicht und die Größe fehlen bisher Angaben. Zudem wird so viel Technik auch ihren Preis haben, denn schon das einfache Gizmondo liegt preislich über einer PSP. Aber vielleicht helfen hier die Subventionierung durch Mobilfunkbetreiber und die Werbefinanzierung ("Smart-ADD"), wobei ab und an MMS mit zielgruppengerechter Werbung empfangen werden.

Tiger Telematics gibt zwar an, dass eine Verkaufsgenehmigung vorliege und das Gerät voraussichtlich im 2. Quartal 2006 in die USA und etwas später nach Europa kommen soll, hat allerdings beim aktuellen Gizmondo-Modell bisher nicht durch Pünktlichkeit glänzen können. Die erste öffentliche Demonstration des neuen Modells soll im Januar 2006 auf der Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas erfolgen.Den "alten" Gizmondo will der Hersteller trotz der Ankündigung noch vertreiben, er soll bald in den USA auf den Markt kommen. Dabei gab es bisher in jeder Region Verspätungen, mit dem Ergebnis, dass es bisher nur in England Gizmondos zu erstehen gibt. In Europa verpasste man damit die Chance, in breiten Regionen vor der PSP liefern zu können.Tiger spricht indes von einer Multi-Produkt-Roadmap, plant also, auch in Zukunft mehrere verschiedene Spiele-Handhelds anbieten zu wollen und spricht auch nebulös von deren Aufrüstbarkeit. Mehr dazu werde in Zukunft bekannt gegeben. Zu den bisherigen Gizmondo-Spielen - von denen die meisten noch nicht verfügbar sind - soll das neue Modell abwärtskompatibel sein.

Dass man es beim Breitbild-Gizmondo vor allem mit der PSP aufnehmen will, zeigt ein Kommentar von Carl Freer, einem der Gründer und Vorsitzender von Tiger Telematics: "Unsere langfristige Aufgabenstellung ist, einen Bereich von Unterhaltungs- und Nachrichten-Einheiten anzubieten, die sich für unterschiedliche Unterhaltungswünsche eignen. Widescreen ist am besten vergleichbar mit der Sony PSP, aber mit noch mehr Leistung und Leistungsmerkmalen."Bei Aldi-Nord gibt es ab dem 21. September 2005 ein Subnotebook mit einem 12,1-Zoll-LCD zu erwerben. Das Medion-Gerät hört auf den Namen MD 96400 und arbeitet mit einem Turion 64 Mobile ML-30 von AMD mit einer Taktfrequenz von 1,6 GHz. Als Chipsatz kommt ATIs Radeon XPress 200M zum Einsatz, dessen integrierter DirectX-9-Grafikkern sich bis zu 128 MByte des Hauptspeichers abzweigt. Das "Hochglanz"-Display bietet eine Auflösung von 1.280 x 800 Pixeln.Das Notebook verfügt über 512 MByte DDR-RAM, womit schon beide Speicherbänke belegt sind. Wer auf die maximal möglichen 1.024 MByte aufrüsten will, muss beide Speicherriegel auswechseln.

"Es un presupuesto social con claros ejemplos como ayudas a vivienda, estudios, o mayores; destacando el Plan Especial de Empleo y las aportaciones al autoempleo y al fomento de la contratación". En cuanto al Ahorro Neto que es otra de las variables que diagnostica la salud presupuestaria, en el Ayuntamiento de Palos es de más de 10 millones de €. Esta cuantía facilita, según Carmelo Romero, la posibilidad de una buena gestión presupuestaria.Representantes de los funcionarios del Ayuntamiento de Ayamonte pertenecientes al sindicato CSIF se han reunido con el Subdelegado del Gobierno, Enrique Pérez Viguera, para informarle sobre lo que consideran "una situación alarmante” en los que se refiere a la seguridad de la localidad costera por la falta de medios y dotaciones de la Policía Local. En este encuentro, los responsables sindicales le trasladaron al máximo representante en materia de seguridad pública en la provincia de Huelva que desde el pasado día 14 de noviembre "los agentes no realizan servicio de patrulla ordinario por las calles del municipio ante la imposibilidad de comunicarse entre sí y con la Jefatura de Policía Local, tal y como se exige legalmente, debido a una carencia total de emisoras portátiles operativas y la inexistencia de emisoras fijas en los vehículos patrulla”, lo que incumple la normativa relativa a los medios técnicos y defensivos de los Cuerpos de la Policía Local de Andalucía.

Los representantes de los trabajadores explicaban que "los sistemas de transmisiones son esenciales para el desempeño de los cometidos de la Policía ya que les permite intercambiar continuamente información indispensable para el buen desarrollo de las intervenciones y alertar a otros servicios de urgencia y seguridad en caso de ser necesario”. Por este motivo, advierten que "la imposibilidad de que los policías puedan comunicarse afecta a su propia seguridad y a la de los propios ciudadanos”. Fuentes sindicales de CSIF apuntaron durante la reunión con el Subdelegado del Gobierno que "la Policía Local ha estado durante bastante tiempo supliendo las carencias en los sistemas de transmisiones usando los teléfonos móviles particulares, con un coste económico personal para cada uno de los trabajadores del cuerpo (considerando, además, que iniciarán el mes de diciembre con cinco nóminas pendientes de pago), mientras se espera una solución que hasta el momento no ha llegado pese a que en los dos últimos años desde la propia Jefatura se ha comunicado directamente a los responsables municipales de éstas y otras deficiencias”. Otras cuestiones que fueron expuestas al Subdelegado fue el número y la situación de los vehículos patrulla de la Policía Local del municipio fronterizo (cuentan con dos coches que resultan insuficientes y que presentan continuamente problemas mecánicos) o la carencia de los documentos de acreditación profesional reglamentarios con el número de identificación asignados por la Consejería de Gobernación y que constan en el Registro de Policías Locales de Andalucía.

En este sentido, desde CSIF apuntaron que los documentos de acreditación debían haber sido facilitados a cada uno de los agentes desde hace más de dos años lo que les impide identificarse correctamente cuando legalmente proceda, "lo que da idea de la situación de abandono y deterioro en el que se encuentran los servicios de Policía por parte del Ayuntamiento”. "Los responsables municipales incumplen de manera reiterada y permanente la legislación dictada por la Junta de Andalucía en materia de Coordinación de Policías Locales”, afirman los representantes sindicales pero a pesar de ello "se continúa dando servicio y atendiendo los requerimientos de los vecinos, aunque su presencia en las calles se ve notablemente afectada”. Finalmente, José Luis Pérez, Presidente de la Junta Personal en el Ayuntamiento por CSIF, ha asegurado que el Subdelegado del Gobierno "ha oído amablemente y entendido las dificultades que tiene la Policía Local para la prestación de los servicios en las actuales circunstancias, y se ha mostrado dispuesto a colaborar para encontrar soluciones a los problemas existentes en el seno de una Junta Local de seguridad que se convocase al efecto u otras formas que pudieran articularse”.

La actualidad de la provincia en la red El pleno del Ayuntamiento de Palos de la Frontera ha aprobado este lunes por unanimidad de todos los grupos una bajada del 5 % en el IBI urbano, una tasa de 1 euros al año para la basura, una cuota de abonado al polideportivo también de 1 euros al año y bonificaciones de la plusvalía que llegan al 90 %. Asimismo el alcalde, Carmelo Romero, ha anunciado que "si las cuentas lo permiten, bajaremos otra vez los impuestos en 2015”.Los puntos 5, 6, 7 y 8, referentes a estos asuntos han sido debatidos conjuntamente saliendo adelante la propuesta del alcalde de reducir la presión fiscal para aliviar el bolsillo de los ciudadanos. Así, a partir de enero de 2015, la cuota tributaria en el Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles Urbano (IBI) bajará un 5 % situádose en 0,669% con carácter general y en un 0,70% para los inmuebles de uso industrial que superen el valor catastral de 500.000 euros. Esta bajada se acumula a la acordada en 2013 (de otro 5%) y que los ciudadanos ya han visto reflejado este año en sus recibos. A modo de ejemplo el primer edil ha exibido un recibo de contribución y ha apoyado su discurso en un gráfico que reflejaba la progresiva disminución del IBI en Palos desde 2012.

En cuanto a la tasa por recogida de residuos sólidos urbanos, se estipula una cuota única de 1 euro al año para todos: viviendas, locales, despachos profesionales, hoteles y hostales y núcleos de viviendas en fincas agrícolas. Así, las viviendas, por ejemplo, el año pasado pasaron de pagar 36 a 30 euros y en enero de 2015 pasarán de 30 a 1 euro. En este punto Carmelo Romero ha dicho que "es una oportunidad que no tiene ni creo que la vayan a tener ningún ciudadano de la provincia de Huelva. Ojalá la Diputación ponga el recibo por el tratamiento de la basura a 1 euro también”. En este sentido instó a la portavoz del PSOE y diputada provincial, Esperanza Cortés, a que media en el asunto ante el órgano provincial. Asimismo, se ha aprobado que quede reducida a 1 euro al año la cuota de los abonados al Polideportivo Municipal. De la ordenanza municipal que regula la tasa por estos servicios se modifica el artículo referente a bonificaciones de manera que se establecen distintos descuentos que se traducen en el pago de una cuota única para todos los colectivos de un euro al año. Ahora la cuota que pagan los palermos oscila entre los 8,68 euros al año que pagan los jubilados y los 30,86 euros que pagan las familias con hijos menores de 16 años; los mayores de 19 años pagan 17,37 euros, los jóvenes entre 16 y 18 años pagan 12,62 euros y los jóvenes hasta los 16 años pagan 9,62 euros. Eso sí, esta nueva cuota de 1 euro es sólo para los usuarios del polideportivo que sean de Palos (al menos 5 años empadronados).

Otro de los impuestos que sufrirá una importante bajada será la Plusvalía. "Esto es un alivio económico en momentos de hondo pesar”, ha asegurado el alcade. El pleno ha aprobado una modificación de la ordenanza fiscal reguladora del impuesto sobre el incremento del valor de terrenos de naturaleza urbana, estableciendo una bonificación, que oscila entre el 30 y el 90 %, en los supuestos de transmisión o constitución de derechos reales de goce limitativos del dominio "mortis causa” a favor de los herederos de la vivienda habitual del fallecido. Para viviendas con valor catastral inferior a 50.000 euros, la bonificación que se pretende es del 90 %; para viviendas que estén entre los 50.001 y los 100.000 euros, un 60 % y; para viviendas con valor superior a los 100.001 euros, el 30 %. Además, según Carmelo Romero, estas bajadas se hacen sobre impuestos y tasas que estan congelados desde hace 15 años quedando el resto de impuestos, tasas y precios públicos congelados como hasta ahora. Otra de las cuestiones sobre las que se ha pronunciado el pleno y que también ha salido adelante por unanimidad de todos los grupos es la modificiación de los requisitos de los Programas Cheque Vivienda, Posito Vivienda, Cheque Bebé, Posito Bebé y Cheque Bañera. En todos estos casos el requisito de empadronamiento para poder ser beneficiario de estas medidas se reduce a la mitad, es decir, pasa de 10 a 5 años, igualándose con otros programas en los que ya se establece este margen temporal, como es la entrega de portátiles a los estudiantes. Sólo en los casos de Cheque Vivienda y Posito Vivienda cuando el solicitante hubiera adquirido una vivienda de VPO se exigía, desde el año pasado, los 5 años de empadronamiento en vez de los 10 que se les requiere a los que compran o construye su casa en régimen de renta libre. Esta rebaja temporal en el empadronamiento se instala ahora con carácter más general y alcanza a otros programas. Según el Alcalde, Carmelo Romero, con esta medida se pretende hacer más universal el acceso a prestaciones de carácter social, sobre todo, teniendo en cuenta los momentos que atravesamos y favoreciendo a un mayor número de vecinos.

Carmelo Romero ha aclarado "que estas medidas son posibles gracias a la amortización anticipada de todos los préstamos a largo plazo concertados por el Ayuntamiento. La deuda 0 en operaciones financieras a largo plazo es un objetivo económico que se marcó el equipo de Gobierno hace algunos años y así se fue incluyendo en cada ejercicio presupuestarios créditos para la amortización anticipada de estos préstamos. Este año, se ha conseguido el fin propuesto y de aquí a dos meses el Ayuntamiento de Palos no tendrá que pagar ni intereses ni gastos de amortización por operacines financieras a largo plazo. Y así consta en los informes economicos que sustentan la bajada de impuestos y tasas aprobadas hoy". Los ahorros comportados por esta gestión de carácter económico ha permitido que, tendiendo en cuenta la situación de crisis que viene padeciendo los ciudadanos en general y las empresas, sobre todo las Pymes en particular, se puedan utilizar recursos para bajar los tipos de gravamen y las cuotas tributarias de algunos impuestos y tasas lo que supondrá un ahorro en el bolsillo de los ciudadanos. En otro orden de cosas, el pleno ha aprobado por unanimidad el proyecto de rotonda de acceso al polígono industrial San Jorge desde la carretera A-494 (Moguer-Mazagón) dotado con 437.000 euros. Esta actuación mejorará la circulación en la zona. Asimismo se ha aprobado también, con los votos a favor del Grupo Popular y la abstención de la oposición, el proyecto básico y de ejecución de la ampliación de la piscina cubierta. El programa contempla una subvención del 40% sobre los gastos de matricula para jóvenes que cursen estudios en universidades públicas. Serán objeto de subvención los créditos en primera matrícula así como los gastos de tasas de secretaría del curso en el que se matricule el alumno y los gastos de apertura de expediente del primer curso.

The trackpad doesn't have the eye-assaulting disco effect present on some of HP's other new machines. Instead your eyes and digits are treated to a more standard black trackpad.Number crunchers will appreciate the number pad, which has been spared the cut, despite the relatively small size of the laptop. A very promising sign is that the click buttons seem to be separate from the touch-sensitive portion of the trackpad. HP has a nasty habit of incorporating buttons into its trackpads, which means you often end up nudging the cursor off course when you try to click.There's not much about the m6 that's likely to get your blood pumping, but if the decent design is matched by solid performance and battery life, this could prove a dependable laptop. Starting at just shy of £600 it's at the upper end of the mid-range scale, so we'll be looking for plenty of processing grunt and impressive battery life when it comes to the full review.After two reports of flaming laptop batteries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday that Hewlett-Packard is voluntarily recalling 70,000 lithium-ion batteries that shipped with several models of its HP and Compaq laptops.

The recall affects nine models of HP Pavilions, nine models of Compaq Presarios, two models of HPs, and one HP Compaq laptop model sold between August 2007 and March 2008. For the full list, see the CPSC's site.There were two separate reports of batteries that "overheated and ruptured, resulting in flames/fire that caused minor property damage" but no injuries, according to the CPSC report.HP is instructing consumers who may be part of the recall to remove the battery from their notebook and contact HP to find out if theirs is affected. HP says it will provide a free replacement battery. For more information, see HP's Battery Replacement Program site.Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP is the world's largest computer vendor, and like many of its peers in the industry has been part of several similar battery recalls. The most recent incident involved 100,000 Sony-made batteries faulted for overheating late last year. HP had sold 32,000 of the affected batteries in its laptops. But that was tiny by comparison to the massive recall caused by Sony batteries in 2006.

Pressure from Apple's MacBook Air has sent the PC industry into a spiral of thin-and-light craziness. HP's getting in on the action too, with a new skinny machine called the HP Envy Sleekbook. Powered by AMD and coming in 14 and 15.6-inch sizes, I've been hands-on with the Sleekbook ahead of its launch. Read on for my first impressions.The HP Envy Sleekbook will be available in the UK from July, with prices kicking off at £549. Expect the cost to jump up if you opt for the 15.6-inch version. The images above are of the 15.6-inch edition, but check out our hands-on with the 14-inch HP Envy Ultrabook for an idea of what the smaller version looks like.The Sleekbook is exactly like an ultrabook -- in fact this machine is visually identical to the HP Envy Ultrabook, which also comes in 14- and 15.6-inch options and was announced at the same time. But Intel owns the 'ultrabook' name, and since these PCs are powered by AMD chips, HP has cunningly gone with 'Sleekbook'.

Crafty. But the Sleekbook has a starting price £100 lower than the HP Envy Ultrabook, making this a potentially more tempting proposition.To be brutally honest, using the terms 'ultrabook' or 'sleekbook' to describe this laptop is slightly misleading, as while it's reasonably thin at 19.8mm, the Sleekbooks are nowhere near as skinny or classy as the wedge-shaped MacBook Air, or even HP's own Envy Spectre XT.Take heart though -- the Sleekbook is still reasonably slim, and for a mid-range laptop it feels decently portable. Having a mildly bulkier chassis also makes room for more ports, which are detailed further down.The rectangular styling Sleekbook looks decent enough, though the plastic chassis doesn't exactly ooze class. There's a brushed metal effect on the lid and keyboard surround, which clashes with the black gloss that surrounds the display. The screen itself packs a respectable 1,366x768 pixels.

The version in the photos above is red and black, though a silver version was also on show -- fingers crossed a selection of hues make it to the UK.Like other HP laptops, the Sleekbook has speakers provided by Beats Audio. As such, there's a small lower-case 'b' sitting on the speaker grille.The keyboard sits within a recessed part of the chassis, with a healthy space between keys that should keep typing errors to a minimum. Helpfully, it's also backlit, which means you can keep on writing once the lights go out.The trackpad has a psychedelic, swirled metal look, that I wouldn't exactly describe as demure, but at least it's different to most trackpads. Unfortunately, HP is still making the click buttons part of the touch-sensitive surface, which means you'll likely end up nudging the cursor by accident when you try to click on things. There's a hearty port selection on show here. The left side plays host to an Ethernet port, HDMI out, two USB ports and an SD card slot -- handy for yanking photos off your digital camera.Spin the laptop around and along the right you'll find two 3.5mm sockets for a microphone and headphones and another USB port, which makes three in total -- one of which is USB 3.0.

There's 500GB of storage on an HDD hard drive with 32GB of SSD cache on the 15.6-inch version, while the 14-inch model has a 320GB HDD. Hybrid mechanical and solid state hard drives will be an option, or you can upgrade to an SSD drive. Expect that to make the Sleekbook more expensive -- although it might be worth the extra pennies. Solid state drives are better because they're faster than their mechanical counterparts, and lack moving parts, so are less susceptible to knocks.The SD card slot is useful for whipping holiday snaps off your camera and onto Facebook, where your ungainly knees will attract the requisite ridicule. I'm excited to see what performance the AMD chips inside the Sleekbook can deliver -- we'll know for sure once we get this PC into our testing lab, so stay tuned.The design of the Sleekbook doesn't exactly feel all that sleek, but I'm intrigued by the price. Starting at £549, if performance and battery life are up to scratch, this could be a great value machine.

Like Asus' Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the IdeaTab S2 comes as two separate, interlocking pieces: a tablet and a keyboard dock. It's a great combo for anyone who feels that their tablet needs to do more than just Angry Birds and Web browsing and actually serve as a tool for working and communicating.The keyboard accessory also provides a number of useful extras, such as two full-size USB ports, HDMI output, SD card reader, and an internal battery pack that affords an extra 10 hours of uptime.

With a press of a button, the tablet springs out (expertly demonstrated in this video) and you find yourself holding a slim (8.69mm) tablet with a 10-inch IPS display, boasting a 1,280x800-pixel resolution. The tablet runs Android 4.0 powered by a Qualcomm 8x60A/8960 1.5 GHz Dual Krait processor and 1GB of LP-DDR2 memory.The rest of the hardware capabilities are just as you'd expect from a high-end Android tablet, including GPS, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, and an 8-megapixel camera on the back that includes autofocus and an LED flash. There's also a microSD card slot for extra storage, Micro-HDMI output, Micro-USB sync, and an optional SIM card slot.Finally, to put its own spin on Android 4.0 (for better or worse) Lenovo has skinned the UI with a unique tiled interface, allowing you to quickly access frequently used apps and widgets (such as stocks and weather).

No word yet on exact availability, but Lenovo sounded optimistic that the tablet would arrive in the second quarter of 2012 with a base price of $399.While some of Apple's new laptops are built with internal batteries to increase power capabilities, other systems still have easily removable batteries. In similar systems, the batteries are interchangeable, and while it may be obvious that you can swap batteries among these systems, some people may also have concerns about doing this. Some of these might include whether or not the system would read battery status properly and if charge values would be similar across multiple machines."Since I own two batteries for my Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro I was wondering... where is the battery condition information stored, in the battery or the computer? The reason I ask has to do with conditioning/calibrating the batteries. If I successfully calibrate one battery and then do the same for the second, can I swap batteries and be confident the calibration will be accurate for whichever battery I am using at the time?" Battery calibration adjusts the battery itself, and not the computer's reading of the battery. A full calibration pushes the battery to its limits and resets the output levels that the battery tells the computer is 100 percent of its capabilities. As batteries age, they lose their ability to hold a full charge, so what is considered "full" for a given battery needs to be reset periodically.

Asus K50IE Battery

Interested consumers will likely ask: what's the difference between this "small business-oriented" Mini 1103 and HP's consumer-branded HP Mini 210, a perennial top pick at CNET among Netbooks? Mostly, not much. In terms of design, the Mini 1103 is spartan. Black is the only option, unlike HP's spectrum of Mini 210 colors. The price is better with the Mini 1103: instead of mid-$300s for a Netbook, the 1103's $299 price puts it on par with the least expensive Netbooks from Acer and Asus. Feature-wise, the 1103 actually comes out on top; instead of removing any features to hit $299, the Mini Glossy black on the outside, matte black on the inside, the Mini 1103 has a clean, inoffensive look that doesn't try too hard. The plastic Netbook is lightweight, although slightly thick with the curved lid closed. To eliminate battery bulge, the long-life battery in the Mini 1103 is largely tucked into the space between the hinges. The top lid opens up completely to a flat 180 degrees, affording plenty of flexibility when lap-typing. Its design is an analogue to HP's consumer Netbooks, and is nothing like the high-end, crisp design of the more expensive HP Mini 5103. This one's a rental car compared with the Mini 5103's luxury coupe touches.

The flat keyboard and its surrounding deck are treated in matte black plastic that has a budget feel, but is sturdy and flex-free. The keyboard isn't full-size, but it's close enough to allow easy and fast typing. Enter and Shift keys are amply sized, and the volume/brightness buttons on top are function-reversed, meaning that they operate directly without requiring a Function button-press.The multitouch touch pad beneath is wide but very narrow, making for awkward navigation. Two large discrete buttons beneath are generous, but the design would have made a lot more sense as a clickpad, thus saving real estate. We can't expect too much out of a budget Netbook, but Asus' Eee PC touch pads are more comfortably designed. The Synaptics touch-based gestures are varied, but hard to execute on such a small surface area.The 10.1-inch LED-backlit matte display on the Mini 1103 looks better in direct light than other displays because it foregoes the glossy treatment on the majority of laptops, but the maximum brightness isn't that high. The 1,024x600-pixel native resolution is standard for 10-inch Netbooks, offering easily readable text and clear-quality images and video, but browser windows and document layouts end up with less user real estate. Web browsing suffers the most, especially with multiple toolbars.

Video and audio playback aren't the strong suits of the Mini 1103, nor are they with any Atom processor-based Netbook. The front-facing stereo speakers built into the lower edge of the laptop achieve functional audio, but cap at an insufficiently low volume for Hulu and other movie playback with a wide sound range. The screen on the Mini 1103 has very limited viewing angles, and is best for single-user watching. A VGA Webcam included with the Mini 1103 has average recording and picture quality.The Mini 1103 has three USB 2.0 ports and an Ethernet port hidden away behind a flap on the right side; it also has Bluetooth, a rarity among budget Netbooks. Also included is a high-speed 7,200rpm 250GB hard drive, a step up and a contributor to zippier file-opening speeds. However, other specs are standard-issue for budget Netbooks: 1GB of RAM and Windows 7 Starter. This Netbook also lacks HDMI-out, so hooking it up to TV could be a hassle.The single-core Atom N455 CPU is perfectly capable for basic tasks such as Web browsing, e-mail, and office document work, even some light multitasking, but the experience slows down significantly with any added multimedia tasks. Playback of full-screen streaming Hulu and Netflix videos degraded into choppiness while still being technically watchable, depending on your definition of watchable.

Bottom line: all Atom Netbooks are limited computing platforms that are fine as long as your expectations are curbed, and your concerns lie more toward size and budget than all-purpose use. There are no dedicated graphics, but the Mini 1103 could easily play casual Web-based games and the like.Asus may have invented netbooks, but Samsung has made some of the best models to grace the market. The NF110 has plenty to live up to, then. With a price tag of £280 and slick styling, the initial signs are promising.Netbooks have a tendency to look quite similar, but the NF110 certainly stands out from the crowd. Like the Samsung NF210, the NF110's chassis has a very distinctive, sculpted shape. The edges of the chassis on either side of the keyboard curve upwards, creating an organic, wave-like appearance.The netbook's design also benefits from the use of three different colours on the chassis. The lid and base of the chassis are finished in black, with a red highlight around the edge, while opening up the netbook reveals a matte white screen surround and keyboard. It all adds up to a very stylish machine. The netbook is also very light and fairly compact, weighing in at a mere 1.3kg and measuring just 265 by 29 by 189mm.

There are no surprises when it comes to the range of ports on offer. There are three USB ports, along with an Ethernet socket, SD card reader and VGA output. Sadly, Samsung hasn't managed to squeeze in an HDMI socket, but, at this price point, that's not a huge surprise.A 250GB hard drive provides a decent amount of room for storing your media files and work documents. Along with 802.11n Wi-Fi, the NF110 supports Bluetooth connectivity. Unusually for a netbook, the NF110's speakers actually sound quite decent. They're not exactly hi-fi-quality, but they're quite loud and rival those found in many larger laptops.The NF110 has one of the better 10.1-inch displays we've seen on a netbook. Its resolution of 1,024x600 pixels may be fairly standard, but it's finished with a matte, rather than glossy, coating, so screen reflections aren't an issue. That's something your eyes will thank you for after a long day's work. The screen is also very bright, and colours are punchy, so pictures and movies look rich and vibrant. Viewing angles are excellent too, and the backlighting is pretty uniform across the screen.

Asustek Computer may still be best known for its low-cost Netbooks, and occasional high-end reaches such as its Republic of Gamers desktop replacements, but the company churns out a fair number of middle-of-the-road systems as well. The Asus U41JF is a solidly built 14-inch notebook that will work fine for nearly any mainstream task, but at the same time is no bargain at $849. Worse, it's easily outclassed in the design department by its 13-inch cousin, the Asus U36JC, which costs around the same, but is thinner, lighter, and more attractive, and has similar discrete graphics and a better processor.Neither model has Intel's new second-gen Core i-series processors (formerly code-named Sandy Bridge), but for mainstream systems such as this, that upgrade may take a while to hit store shelves, especially given Intel's recent troubles with the new platform.At prices approaching Apple's MacBook (and topping Toshiba's 13-inch R705), unless you're wedded to the idea of the system's Nvidia GeForce 425M graphics, there are better-priced or nicer-looking laptops out there. That said, the U41JF has really good battery life, and never really let us down, which may sound like faint praise, but is praise nonetheless.

The biggest immediate problem we had with the Asus U41JF was its overall look. The brushed metal lid and wrist rest are standard enough, and not offensive, but that's paired with a glossy black keyboard tray (with matte black keyboard) and screen bezel that extend to the four edges of the chassis. This gives the entire device a gaudy two-tone look that we've previously criticized on other systems. If you can't go monochrome, at least keep the colors in the same family.The body itself is angular and boxy, but not overly thick for a 14-inch system. We're not aesthetic elitists by any means, but with laptops mostly being constructed from the same core set of components, the visual flair is often what sells one model over another.The keyboard has the same flat-topped, widely spaced keys as most current laptops, which is a style we sometimes call island or Chiclet keys. The keys are a good size, with large Left Shift and Enter keys, but the Right Shift key gets unfairly shortened. We're also not a fan of the extra row of buttons some laptop makers are adding to the far right side, which are typically Page Up, Page Down, and other movement keys. They can throw off your touch typing pretty easily, making it hard to hit the Enter and Shift keys if you're used to them being on the far right side of the keyboard. Additionally, the keyboard flexed under our fingers in the middle while we were typing, which never makes for a good long-term experience.

A generous touch pad is centered under the keyboard, but its basic multitouch gestures are hit or miss (however, the same could be said of most Windows laptops right now). One nice touch is that you can scroll vertically by either swiping one finger along the right edge of the touch pad or by using the Mac-like two-finger method. Under the touch pad, a single rocker bar takes the place of separate left and right mouse buttons. We strongly prefer separate buttons, but Asus seems married to the rocker bar concept across most of its products. The 14.1-inch display has a native resolution of 1,366x768 pixels, which is typical for a midsize laptop. Off-axis viewing was good horizontally, but the image faded quickly when viewed from above or below. The built-in Altec Lansing speakers are decent for a laptop, and at least good enough for personal video viewing. There's nothing notable, or missing, from the U41JF's collection of ports and connections. But for nearly $900, it's possible to find extras such as a mobile broadband antenna or even a Blu-ray player if you shop around.
